Chapter 166: Just The way you are.

He looked exactly as she remembered.

Rugged, scarred heavily on the face and larger than most men. What was he doing at Gravemont? And was Sylas with him?

Standing in a lonely path in the school or hidden in a silent corner had now become a habit for her. Right now, she and Wolfe had walked down to a place they wouldn’t be bothered.

"Why are you here? How is Sylas doing?" She began erratically, too worried to calm down.

Wolfe made a guttural noise from his throat, and then he shook his head.

Fear clutched her heart, and her heart rate shot up.

"What happened to him?" She demanded fiercely.

"Nothing," Wolfe said, "He asked me to come and check up on you. I’ll report back to him that you’re doing just fine,"

"Then why the hell did you shake your head when I asked if he was doing fine?!" She half-yelled.

"I was talking to my wolf then, not you,"

She was angry, but there was so much relief on his chest now. Thank Goodness Sylas was alive and ok.

"When will he return to Gravemont? Is he almost done with what he has to do?"

"He will return unfailingly on the night of the Full Moon,"

That was the night of the play.

"I’m glad he’s all right," She sighed, thinking of how she would see him again.

"I came here not just to check on you as per his orders, but to also warn you on his behalf," Wolfe said.

"Warn me about what?"

"He’s asked me to warn you to be more careful than you’ve ever been. Cain has been resting in the West, dining with the Council, but it all seems like a facade to us. And you’ve been engaged to the Voss family in secrecy, We’ve gotten intel that they would be coming to take you away from Gravemont on that same night. Also, Sylas asked me to tell you that you should be very wary of the person tailing you,"

Was Cain dining with the council members? Well, that’s very odd.

"Tell him I’ll heed his warning and he shouldn’t worry about me and focus on what he has to do," She replied.

Wolfe nodded quietly, and then his eyes fell on the black and white bracelet she was wearing. The one Sylas had given her before leaving, "Boss...gave you that?" Wolfe asked quietly.

She looked down at it, and her fingers brushed against the stones. "Yes," She raised her hand, "Do you know what stones they are?"

"Those are Bone Pearl stones. They are rare mountain quartz and the only ones ever forged. It’s a treasure that is said to have mysterious powers, depending on the wearer,"

Theo looked down at it again. She knew they were expensive and rare, but the only ones ever forged? That was one hell of a big deal. It was so sweet of Sylas to give her something like this.

"I have to get going now, Miss," Wolfe said and took a step back. He looked like someone who had done his job and was ready to vanish.

"Thanks, Wolfe," She smiled.

He gave a curt sharp nod, and then he turned around and sprinted down a corner, under the covers of building shadows. She watched him go till he was completely out of sight, before returning to her dorm.

Zeke was not back like she had hoped when she returned.

Outside, the wind had picked up its speed and dark clouds were gathering in the sky. Theo paced back and forth in the room, awaiting his return from wherever he had run off to.

The moment he walked into the room, he ran and threw herself at him, "Zeke!"

He didn’t hold her back. His arms trembled by his sides, unsure if it was all right to touch her still.

"Oh Zeke!" She cried as she pulled back to look at his face.

He looked pale and torn. His eyes looked sad, and he kept avoiding her gaze.

"Listen to me," She began, cupping his face so he had no choice but to look at her, but his gaze remained staring at a distance, "You didn’t do anything, okay? I was just a little overwhelmed, and that’s normal. You have nothing to worry about,"

He was quiet for some time. Then, he reached out for her hands and gently pulled them off his face like he wasn’t worthy of being touched, "You were right, Hellcat," He murmured, "I act irrationally and uncouth many times. I’m Hot-headed and I let my emotions get in the way. I...never should have forced myself on you like that,"

She dragged his face down again, this time with pain and determination in her eyes. She needed him to understand how wrong he was, "You did NOT force yourself on me! I just realised something when...it was about to happen,"

He blinked, awaiting more.

"Zeke, there’s this pressure on both of us to mate so you can get healed, but I’ll be honest with you, I don’t want to mate with you because I want to heal you, I want to mate with you because I want YOU. Even if we aren’t mates, I’d still want you in my life forever, Zeke Pendragon," She smiled at him.

His eyes slowly shifted from a distance, and finally looked directly at her. He seems almost amazed.

"Yes, that’s what I want, Zeke. I WANT you just the way you are. I love you being irrational, Hot-headed, crazy, dangerous and dark, those hot, sexy, bad-boy vibes. I love it all,"

He smiled back and took her face this time.

"And yes, I would really appreciate the help on helping me find my stalker and getting Heather off my back, and if you think that pretending you’re interested in her is what’s gonna get us to the bottom of this, then alright, go ahead," She made a mental determination, "I will stay out of your way, I promise,"

"Play is in two days. I’ll get a lead on your stalker then," He promised.

He looked so genuine and honest. Theo felt this powerful emotion for him that rocked her core, and she couldn’t help but reach in and kiss his lips. She was glad they were on the same page, once again.

Well, not entirely.

She had to tell him about her... upcoming marriage with Aurelius Voss.
