Chapter 165: Best of Friends

The kiss was brutal.

It stole the breath straight from her lungs, teeth knocking, and lips demanding, like he was pouring every unsaid thing into her mouth because words would shatter him.

His grip tightened, and he pinned both hands over her head, his forehead pressed to hers as he breathed her in like he needed her to live.

Theo melted despite herself, and a soft sound broke from her chest before she could stop it.

Zeke’s free hand was all over her body, while his lips devoured her mouth endlessly. He had her against the wall before she even realised it, and whirled her around roughly so her chest was pressed against the wall instead, her hands still pinned over her head.

She felt him shove down her pants with a growl, and then his palm came over her ass cheeks, the sound so loud she prayed they wouldn’t get caught by someone closeby. Like they were literally making out in open space and anyone could just walk by and see them.

And Zeke did not seem to give a fuck about that.

His palm came down on her ass again, and he grabbed her hips and arched them forward properly, forcing a gasp out of her as his hand came down on her second cheek.

Theo cried out his name, tears stinging the back of her eyes while moisture pooled shamelessly between her legs.

"Zeke-"

Her words turned into a sharp cry of pleasure as two fingers were shoved inside her, and her knees instantly weakened.

"I wanna fuck you right here, right now!" He grunted, "Damn you’re so wet, Hellcat. So wet and ready for my cock...,"

He was tugging down her pants even further, and she felt his hard length pressing against her back, seeking her to feel his warmth, wanting to feel her soft skin on him.

He yanked his fingers out and she cried again, loving the viciousness of it all.

Then he grabbed her waist and ached her till she was bent over completely, her ass cheeks pressed against his jeans.

Theo’s eyes widened. Was he really planning to do it here?!

"Zeke-" She tried to speak, but let out a gasp again when she felt something big and hard rubbing against her.

Oh God, was he really about to...? Are they gonna do this here?! This was not how she imagined this happening. It was all happening so fast that it was a little overwhelming, and she squirmed under him.

"No...," She sounded almost inaudible, so meek and a little frightened.

There was a sudden pause from him, and then the air shifted again.

The next second, her pants were back on, and she was standing all alone.

Zeke was gone. He had run off.

Theo’s heart was thrumming. She had scared him away when she had said no, and she had felt his panic right before he had zoomed off.

Oh no. She didn’t mean to do that.

She took a step forward, but her legs trembled and she quickly caught herself before she fell. She could still feel his breath everywhere, hear his harsh breath against her ear, and his fingers in her.

She needed a few minutes to recover from all that.

She couldn’t find Zeke anywhere. She wanted to find him and tell him it was all right, but his scent was being dispersed by the rising wind, making it hard for her to track him.

After a while, she decided to return to the dorm. Hopefully, she would find him there.

On her way, she stumbled upon William walking alone. Ever since their fight that day, his eyes had lost a lot of their shine, and he didn’t seem like himself anymore.

And maybe she was right. Maybe she was being selfish by wanting him as a friend, still. But he was one of the best things that’s ever happened to her. But everything that has happened so far was making her ask herself now: was it wrong for her to keep pretending to be a boy to him? Would he feel better if she told him she was a girl, a Bloodmoon Vanguard and that they can’t be together?

She walked behind him for a few seconds before he finally noticed she was there. He turned around to see who it was, and his eyes fell even more when he saw her.

Theo hesitated a little before she waved.

And as always, he ignored and turned away.

"I wanna talk," She said, loud enough for him to hear.

Liam paused in his steps.

"You once told me...," She came over and stopped next to him, "That if I ever needed to talk, you were...great at pretending to listen,"

She looked at him, but his eyes resumed staring straight ahead with a cold look. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺

"I wanna talk now," Her voice cracked, "So could you please...at least, pretend to listen?"

He remained silent, but his lips twitched.

"I care about you, more than you know," She swallowed, "And I miss you so much. I know that you can’t look me in the eye anymore without getting hurt and I know that you hate me for giving my heart to someone else when you most definitely deserve it, and I’m not asking you to forgive me for that. I’m not asking you to look at me, and I’m not asking you to be my friend again, because it’ll only keep hurting when I’m close,"

Her toes curled inside her boots, and she blinked rapidly to stop the tears from gathering so fast.

"I just want you to know that no matter what, no matter how far we have drifted apart, I will always cherish what we have. The North and West are like natural enemies, fire and water that never get along, but I believe we broke that millennial belief when we made the best of friends with each other. I have had the best times of my life with you, William Sinclair. I wouldn’t dare ask you for more of that no matter how much I want to," The tear slipped out finally, and she sniffed.

Boys aren’t supposed to cry. Boys aren’t supposed to be so expressive of their emotions. She wasn’t gay.

Liam looked up at her, finally. The cold look had dissipated a bit, and he watched the tear roll down her face.

"And I’m really sorry for breaking your heart. I’m sorry for breaking it then, and now, and always," She sniffed, and forced a strong look on her face, "That’s all I wanted to say. I hope you pretended to listen,"

Slowly, she turned around and started to walk away.

She wouldn’t force him to stand there any longer. She was already lucky enough that he actually stopped for her, and she wouldn’t selfishly keep asking for more. If he believed staying away from her was what’s best for his heart, then she would no longer bother him.

She was almost at her dorm when she felt a foreign presence behind her. Her body grew alert, thinking it was her stalker again.

But when she turned around, she saw Wolfe standing there.
