The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 239: Call The Team Back.
"You guys can go ahead. Chairman DeLoach asked me to visit the estate," Raymond informed them.
Enoch was surprised and he did no good job in hiding it. "You alone? He didn’t ask for me?"
Raymond nodded in reply.
"I guess he’s calling in regards to the elite team. Our team has been encountering his for a while now, yet Shikera remains missing. You think he should be suspected?" he asked.
"He wouldn’t dare do that," Enoch replied, shaking his head. "He knows Ethan best and won’t dare offend him."
"Let’s see then. I will leave now," Raymond stated, leaving the two alone to walk back to his car, the face of a certain person in his mind.

"Call the team back," Chris instructed. A determined gaze which was similar to his son’s in his eyes, he sat back and waited for Raymond’s reply.
Just as Raymond expected, Chris had called him back to instruct him to withdraw the elite team ordered to search for Shikera. He knew Chris would surely find out that they couldn’t reach his son and would therefore, want to make use of Ethan’s elite team during that time.
He sighed. "Ethan instructed the team to keep searching for Miss Anderson until they find her. I don’t have the authority to call them back," Raymond refused.
"You won’t find her. Both of our teams have been searching the country for a while now and we haven’t found her. If we continue like this, it’s the same as broadcasting it to the whole country and you know what next if that happens," Chris insisted.
"But—"
"No buts, Ray. I heard news that Ethan arrived at The Jordans base already. He didn’t say anything about where that was so I’m guessing he still sees them as family and does not want to end them. Instead of letting them roam around aimlessly, don’t you think the men should be called back and placed on standby?"
"I do think so. But The Jordans are also loitering about and if they happen to be the first to find Miss Anderson, no one would be able to quell Ethan’s anger," Raymond reasoned, maintaining a bargaining tone. He barely had interactions with Chris DeLoach since his own boss, Ethan, had moved out just a few days after he came back home, so he could not talk to the man casually. Ruthlyn could do that instead, since she once worked for Mignon and was now the daughter in-law of the DeLoach family.
He looked up at Chris’ face to notice the relaxed manner with which he was sitting. He was not as tense as the other heads of the Mega families, as if he was sure his own family would not be attacked. 𝕗𝐫𝐞𝕖𝕨𝐞𝗯𝚗𝕠𝘃𝐞𝚕.𝐜𝗼𝚖
"I am not in charge of the team, Chairman. I will take my leave now."
With that, he rose from the chair and bowed slightly before walking out of the building.
As soon as he got into his car, he retrieved his phone and dialed Enoch’s number. The call connected after the very first ring.
"Yes?" Enoch’s voice was sharp, showing that he had been expecting the call.
"Can you contact Cole?"
"Yeah, he contacted me after losing Ethan so...I think it’s possible. You want to pass a message to him?" Enoch asked.
Raymond nodded, forgetting that Enoch could not see his face.
"Yeah. The chairman might call him now and ask him to call the team back. Ask him to comply," he said.
"What?! Call back the team Ethan sent after Shikera? You hate Cole that much?" Enoch asked in shock. He could already imagine what Cole’s reaction would be when he heard this.
Raymond chuckled in spite of himself, "I thought about it and my decision is to call them back. Shikera is human too and she needs to breath and move around. Who knows what kind of place she’s hiding that’s out of reach of the elites team? Also, the Jordans might be using us to find her. We can trick them instead."
"How?" Enoch inquired immediately.
"We call them back but leave behind some of the least skilled ones, without the Chairman’s knowledge. All of them are skilled anyways so the worst of them would be able to detect immediately she gets out of wherever she’s hiding. That way, the Chairman’s personal team will be withdrawn too while the Jordans will be confused. They will conclude we are taking our teams back because we found her already. What do you think?"
"Uh...I think it’s worth a try. But if something happens, I’m outta here. I’m merely a messenger; I hope you remember that," Enoch agreed, how voice lowered into a whisper.
"Just get to work already. The chairman would have made the call." Raymond hung up on the call immediately. Turning the key in it’s ignition, he started the car and drove out of the dark parking lot.
BACK AT THE VILLA.
Enoch dropped the call and turned to Ruthlyn, who had been listening in on their conversation the whole time.
"What do you think about Ray’s theory?" he asked.
"Nothing. I just don’t think Shikera is still in the city. She knows just how much power the DeLoachs and the Andersons have combined so she must have planned her escape meticulously. Finding her in this city is easier than ABC for them, so she wouldn’t have stayed near at all," Ruthlyn replied. Dipping the pen in her hand into one side of her cheek, to create an artificial dimple.
Enoch saw reasons with her words.
"That’s right. Anyways, Cole and Raymond will handle it. Let’s talk to Elizabeth Anderson."
He switched on his phone and pressed the message icon, before clicking on a particular contact that had messaged him ten times just that morning.
"She sure is persistent," he muttered.
"She has every reason to," Ruthlyn said, "Liam Anderson has a very good relationship with the DeLoachs so she wants to do the same. The best person, who is also the hardest, to associate herself with among them is Ethan DeLoach and the only way to get to him is through his daughter, Esther DeLoach. What other honorable way to approach Esther than offering to be her home tutor?"
"Wise. But I must ask, why do you think the best person to associate herself with is Ethan? You don’t think it’s me she actually likes and she’s just using Esther and Ethan as a shield?" Enoch asked. His expression was so serious that when Ruthlyn turned to look at him, she almost started to wonder to about the possibilities of that happening.
"Why would she dilly—dally when she can just ask you out directly?"
"Because I’m engaged, and getting married in a few months?" Enoch guessed.
Ruthlyn nodded.
"Ethan is married too, since a few months ago. You know what, we might actually just be judging her without knowing anything about her. We should check tomorrow. While Mrs Ashley Zuresh engages with Mrs Anderson, we can get to know Elizabeth and find out what kind of person she is."
"Before that happens, we have to contact her." Enoch eyed the phone in his hand. "We don’t even know yet if her mom will agree to come yet we have concluded on our own."
His fingers began to move on the phone and within a minute, he was done texting. He clicked on the second button to see the message delivered that very second.
He was about to exit the page and wait for a reply along with Ruthlyn, when his phone pinged.
"She replied already and it’s positive," he informed Ruthlyn with a disinterested tone. Somehow, he felt like he already knew what the results would be, if he tried to get to know more about Elizabeth Anderson.
"Read out the message you texted," Ruthlyn requested.
"Hey! I’m being informal since we are meant to be close family friends and not rigid ones so I hope you do the same. I was informed you’ll be Esther’s home tutor until she can return to school and that’s perfectly delighting. But before that, why don’t we all meet for lunch. You, your mom, I, Esther and the rest over here. What do you say?" Enoch sighed when he was done reading, cringing at the image he just projected himself with.
"And what did she reply with? A simple yes?" Ruthlyn asked again.
"Of course, I totally don’t mind being addressed informally and yes, I and my mom would love to meet you at lunch. Looking forward to seeing you...and Ethan," Enoch complied. He chuckled mockingly when he was done reading, "I can totally hear the coyness in the text! Does she think Ethan would like her just because of her face?"
"None of my business. Search for private restaurants that can accommodate us all, and take note to make sure it is not associated to either of the Andersons or DeLoachs. We can’t have people recognizing us. I will go prepare Esther for tomorrow."
"Leave that to me!" Enoch exclaimed, smiling sheepishly as he waved Ruthlyn off. However, the smile fell as soon as her back turned to him.
