The Faceless Billionaire Celebrity Wife-Chapter 219: Good Girl.
Liam brows raised in fake surprise, a mocking chuckle escaping his lips.
"Your son has to bear the brunt now? I’m sorry, Chris, but our children have borne the brunt for our crimes one time or the other. Ethan is not the first and..."
"And he will not be the last? He will be, as long as he completely ends the Jordans now that they are here. I am only telling you this so you won’t get flustered when you can’t reach Shikera. She really is gone," Chris stated.
"And where is Ethan? I won’t say anything to your business like mind so where is your son?!" Liam’s voice was raised, inevitably drawing the attention of the others in the quiet mansion. In no time, Natalia and Elizabeth were down and standing at the foot of the stairs, hesitating whether to join Liam in the living room or not.
"He is alright, as he should be. At times like this, Liam, I can’t help but be happy that he was kidnapped as a kid and shaped into a cruel, unfeeling, though crazy young man. That’s one of the reasons why he is barely moved by Shikera’s disappearance right now," Chris smiled gently, and an onlooker who saw his smile would think he was complimenting Liam. He added,"But you know what? Shikera didn’t deserve the black card after all, she did not really suffer from the kidnap. It turned out she was taken by her birth parents instead."
Liam gritted his teeth, unable to refute Chris’ words. He simply watched as the latter gave a small bow and walked out of the living room there were currently in.
"Daddy!"
He looked up to see Elizabeth running towards him with a bright smile on her face and he suddenly felt irritated. Did all this look like a joke to her?!
"What’s the problem?" he asked curtly.
Elizabeth appeared to be taken aback by his cold tone as she hurriedly assumed her docile demeanor.
"Sorry if I annoyed you, Dad, but I only wanted to tell you I’ll be leaving for the mall now to get your birthday gift. What would you like as a present?" she asked.
Liam felt his irritation subside instantly when Elizabeth’s face turned into that of Shikera’s whenever she wanted to please him in return for an extra bowl of ice cream.
"You don’t have to get me a gift. It’s dangerous outside so do not leave the house for the meantime," he replied curtly.
"How can you say that, Dad? The first birthday I’m celebrating with you had got to be one of the bests you will ever witness, so how could you have the heart to ask me to stay home," Elizabeth retorted petulantly, pouting her lips.
"Because I have the fucking heart not to let you die, Elizabeth! Going outside is dangerous so stay home patiently and do not worry about birthday gifts or what not."
Just then, Natalia rushed up to the two of them with a shocked look on her face. She turned to Elizabeth first.
"What happened, Beth? And you, Liam, what do you mean going out right now is dangerous?" she asked.
Tears falling from her eyes, Elizabeth took to her heels and ran out of the living room, up the stairs and to her room.
"It meant exactly what i said. The Jordans...they are here and though we haven’t found them yet, Ethan is working on it," Liam replied.
"But why are they suddenly here?! Haven’t the children suffered enough in their hands?" Natalia cried, falling onto a couch in shock.
Liam sighed as he massaged his temple in exasperation, before replying her, "We are not sure about that, but the only guess we have is that they came for Shikera. They want to get her back so as to extract information from her to use against the Mega families. If they can’t do that, then they will kill her."
"And where is she?" Natalia asked immediately, as if she had been preparing to ask that question. "Should we not kill her and present her body to them so they can know there’s no one to ask anything, and therefore retreat? Isn’t that safer?"
As if he could not understand the language Natalia just spoke, Liam slowly raised his head up to look at her, confusion evident on his face.
"What did you just say, Nat—" He could not bring himself to call that name, for he was damn sure that Natalia would never suggest something as cruel as what he just heard.
"You ask what I just said, Liam? Would you rather our daughter stay cooped up in this mansion without being able to live her life just because of a certain girl who actually stole her childhood?!" Natalia screamed.
"What?!" Liam muttered disbelievingly. "Shikera stole Elizabeth’s life? I understand your sentiment, Natalia, but I would not have you talk to Kera like that. I would agree if you say she stole Elizabeth’s life but I want to make sure you understand that she also stole Elizabeth’s suffering! You know it too well that it’s not easy to be a member of the Mega families and most especially for this generation of youngsters, they got kidnapped day in day out! Shikera was gone for five years, a whole of five years and I don’t fucking care if you say her parents were the one who kidnapped her. All I know is that my princess who has always been pampered right from the day she was born, was subjected to suffering for a whole five years just because of some adults selfish intentions!"
Liam stood up from the sofa, glaring down at Natalia as if he could not recognize her.
"You should get back to your room and safely stay in there. I will leave to look for my daughter," he stated, and walked away from there.
Behind him, Natalia brows furrowed as she stared at his retreating back.
"What the fuck is wrong with him now?"

Ethan’s Villa.
"I want my mummy and my daddy!" Esther screamed, flinging her homework onto the floor.
She guessed it was true that two wishes could not be granted at the same time after what she just witnessed. After praying for weeks that an undeserved vacation from school be granted to her so she could spend more time with her mummy and daddy, she finally got it only for them to be absent.
Hazel sighed for the tenth time since she started the home lesson thirty minutes ago.
"Esther, they will be back soon. Don’t you want them to bring gifts on their way back?" she tried to persuade Esther, but her words fell on deaf ears.
"When will they be back?"
Hazel’s eyes brightened, thinking she had finally succeeded in getting Esther to calm down. However, her face fell when she registered the question Esther asked and realized that she had no answer to it.
"Answer me, Miss Hazel. When will they be back?" Esther repeated her question.
"Uh..I’m not sure about that. But I know they will be back soon," Hazel replied carefully.
"I won’t read until they come back. Mum left the same way then and everyone kept telling me she would be back; now mummy and daddy are gone too. Take me to where they are or I won’t listen," Esther insisted defiantly.
"Alright, since you are not ready to read. Why don’t you eat breakfast instead? Only a strong girl can visit her mummy and her—"
Esther cut her off with a childish pout, as she said, "I can eat whenever I see them. Take me to mummy first!"
"But..."
"Why don’t you let me handle her?" Cyprian’s voice echoed from the doorway, attracting the surprised stares of both Hazel and Esther.
"Gladly," Hazel whispered as she hurried out of Esther’s room, while Cyprian stepped into the room and closed the door behind herself.
"Hey Esther," she greeted, but was ignored by the little girl.
Cyprian laughed lightly and continued,"If you won’t even answer me, then forget seeing your mom and dad. Who knows if they left because you were behaving like this?"
Esther’s head snapped up at what she knew was a false accusation. She had always been a good girl to both her mum and her dad for as long as she could remember.
"You are lying! I...I behaved myself well when mommy was here. She didn’t leave because of that," she protested.
The smile on Cyprian’s face didn’t lower as she looked around the room and took note of the yellow colored study table and chair, the couch, bedsheets and...in fact, very few of the things in the room weren’t yellow colored and they basically screamed Shikera.
"Is yellow your best color?" she asked, to see Esther nod gently.
"Okay, back to our earlier discussion. Do you think it matters that you behaved yourself when mommy was here? How you behave when your mommy isn’t here is what matters."
Behind the door, Raymond’s hand paused on the door knob as he listened in on the ongoing conversation in the room.
