The Celibate Tycoon Has Fallen-Chapter 68: Losing Temper for Yelena Hughes
This should be the most exciting scene of the night.
Nancy Alden squinted her eyes. It’s even more entertaining than watching a movie.
Madeline Forest was also standing there, but someone found her in the way and pushed her aside.
She accidentally bumped into Yelena Hughes’s arm, "Shall we..."
Pick it up?
Before Madeline Forest got an answer, she saw Yelena Hughes squatting down, picking up the scattered bills by her feet one by one.
"What are you standing there for?"
Yelena Hughes looked up at her when she didn’t move.
Madeline Forest didn’t hesitate any longer. She still owed a huge debt. Pride meant nothing.
"This is mine, don’t take it!"
"Did your name get written on the money? Hand it over!"
On the other side of the table, two people started grappling. Money, no one ever thinks they have enough, everyone wants to claim others’ as their own.
"I clearly picked it up first."
"Which dog eye of yours saw that?"
The two of them pushed each other, eventually ending up wrestling on the ground.
The high-ranking people watched them as if they were watching a monkey show.
Yelena Hughes saw two bills fall onto the coffee table, and as she looked up, she reached out to take them.
She was squatting, Jasper Yale was sitting upright, and the one throwing the money was standing.
The division between low and high status was so clear.
Yelena Hughes protected the money in her hands, Nancy Alden snuggled up to Jasper Yale’s shoulder, and the man naturally wrapped his arm around her waist, "Are you tired?"
"Not tired, I’m quite happy to be out for a change."
Aaron Payne’s gaze toward Yelena Hughes had changed, this woman seemed to be all show, but what’s really inside?
He couldn’t think of any adjectives. Watching her pick up money just made him feel sick.
How much money is that? Is she really that desperate?
A group of people played until late before heading back. Nancy Alden was carried into the car by Jasper Yale, and just as the door closed, there was a knock on the window from outside.
Nancy Alden lowered a piece of glass, seeing Lily Jewel standing outside.
"Nancy, shall we arrange to hang out again in a few days?"
Nancy Alden was satisfied with everything arranged today and was just about to agree when Jasper Yale intercepted, "She’s busy."
Lily Jewel looked inside through the outside light, seeing no friendliness on Jasper Yale’s face, "Young Master, it’s been a long time since I’ve seen Nancy."
Jasper Yale didn’t respond to her; instead, he said to Nancy Alden, "Do you want to hang out with her?"
She couldn’t figure out what he meant by that.
"Hmm." Nancy Alden nodded cautiously.
"Aren’t you afraid she might lead you astray?" Jasper Yale’s words were harsh, and even towards Nancy Alden, he was no longer as gentle as before, "Nancy, just like birds of a feather flock together, or do you think what she did tonight was right?"
Nancy Alden felt embarrassed. What does he mean by that?
Lily Jewel’s face had turned ashen, as if being publicly slapped, "Young Master, I don’t understand your words."
Jasper Yale sat in the car, hidden in the shadows, his expression unreadable, "The Jewel Family can only lose so little money. How about another day, I play with you like this, making you crawl on the ground like a dog."
In the cramped space, the air was being sucked out little by little.
Nancy Alden’s hand trembled slightly, and Lily Jewel, though angry, dared not speak, and was eventually pulled away by her boyfriend.
Nancy Alden carefully looked at Jasper Yale’s expression, was it because of Yelena Hughes that he spoke so harshly?
"Jasper, I also don’t approve of Lily Jewel’s actions tonight, but polite words should still be said."
The man remained silent, staring out the window, the cold air radiating from him.
Nancy Alden looked at him in disbelief, "Could it be that you’re angry because of Yelena Hughes?"
Jasper Yale’s tone was a bit impatient, "No."
She felt even more constricted in her chest.
Hailey Jenkins then had to interject, "Miss Alden, the Young Master doesn’t like this kind of behavior. That Jewel woman can do whatever she likes, no one minds, but the Young Master is sitting here. Isn’t this something that shouldn’t be flaunted? How terrible if word got out? The PR department has always maintained the Young Master’s image very well, but tonight’s events..."
Hearing this, Nancy Alden felt somewhat relieved but still harbored doubts.
"Lily Jewel went too far," she said, maneuvering herself closer to Jasper Yale’s side, "I won’t hang out with her anymore. Anyone you dislike, I won’t see, okay?"
Jasper Yale was too lazy to speak at this point. He had done similar things to Yelena Hughes, but doing it himself and watching someone else do it were different.
Yelena Hughes walked out of The Sovereign Club, Madeline Forest treading on her shadow behind her. As she stopped, Madeline bumped into her back.
"Madeline, are you hungry?"
Both had a few drinks tonight, and their stomachs were burning uncomfortably.
Madeline Forest nodded vigorously, "Hungry."
Yelena led her down a stretch of road, and at a corner, there were a few small stalls. This weather called for some hot, soupy food.
Two pretty girls each ordered a bowl of spicy hotpot, and before they started eating, Yelena clinked bowls with her.
"Cheers."
Madeline Forest’s eyes were misty from the steam, as if she had been crying. She knew Yelena didn’t like hearing her apologize for dragging her down.
She said "cheers" and in the cold of late autumn, the two girls leaned against each other, a simple bowl of spicy hotpot warming their bodies and hearts.
After the Alden Family incident, most of their assets were seized, except for a major pharmaceutical company that Jasper Yale had preserved.
Over the past year, the company continued to operate, and Nancy Alden didn’t want to idle at home, living off Jasper Yale’s support, so she prepared to take over the company.
When the pharmaceutical company returned to the original owner’s hands, marketing was naturally essential.
Jasper Yale had already arranged for reporters, but Nancy Alden was not satisfied.
"I have someone in mind," she said softly.
"Who?"
"Yelena Hughes."
Jasper Yale didn’t outright refuse, but he clearly didn’t understand Nancy Alden’s reasoning, "Why choose her?"
"Jasper, I don’t want more people to know that I have mobility problems. I already seem miserable enough in other people’s eyes." Nancy Alden placed her hand on her leg, pounding it hard.
"Yelena Hughes knows the situation, after all, it’s just an article, it doesn’t matter who writes it."
Jasper Yale frowned, "Anyone else can do it too; no one dares to write recklessly."
"I know you wouldn’t allow such a thing to happen, but..." Nancy’s face was clouded, "Other people seeing me like this will definitely talk about me when they go back. They’ll say I can’t stand, that I’m a cripple, and I don’t want that."
"Alright," Jasper indulged her, not wanting her to be unhappy over such trivial matters, "I’ll arrange it."
When Yelena Hughes received the interview assignment, she refused immediately without thinking.
She didn’t want any interaction with Nancy Alden, fearing there could be a trap waiting for her.
Yelena Hughes’s rejection was firm, "I have no free time, I have other news to follow."
"I won’t go, even if they fire me, I won’t go."
Until Jasper Yale called her, "You don’t want to go?"
Yelena Hughes responded with a sound of acknowledgment.
Why is it wrong for her not to want to do the interview?
"Fine," Jasper Yale’s voice carried no warmth, "Then I’ll invite your entire department to play at The Sovereign Club."
