Chapter 49: Chapter 49: Young Master Wouldn’t Abandon Her

When Yelena Hughes went downstairs, she saw that the dining table was already set with food.

All were nourishing foods for the stomach, quite sumptuous.

Yelena Hughes didn’t stand on ceremony and fed herself well before heading out.

She went there early, and there were only a few people in the lounge. Madeline Forest came over to her side. "You alright from last night?"

"I’m fine."

"I saw it was the young master who took you away. You were unconscious at the time, scared me to death. I even saw the young master looking tense."

Yelena Hughes had already changed into her work uniform and began applying makeup in front of the mirror, "You saw wrong. Why would he be tense because of me?"

"Really, I think the young master is interested in you."

Yelena Hughes’s hand shook with laughter, her mascara almost smudging, "Madeline, you have quite the sense of humor."

If Madeline Forest knew what Jasper Yale had just said to her, she wouldn’t say that.

Jasper Yale wouldn’t be coming tonight; Nancy Alden was injured, and he’d be feeling too sorry at home to come. A light makeup would just suffice for Yelena Hughes.

...

Half a month quietly passed, with the days running smoothly.

In Jasper Yale’s private room, idlers dared not enter, and Yelena Hughes just needed to wait for her shift to end there.

She simply brought her computer along, intending to edit tomorrow’s news release.

When noises came from outside the private room door, she thought Jasper Yale had arrived and quickly closed her laptop.

Chester’s voice resonated through the door panel, "Master Thorne, that’s not allowed..."

"Am I allowed or not, would you know?" As the words were spoken, the private room door was pushed open.

Yelena Hughes looked over, her back almost instantly straightening, and supported herself on the table edge, slowly standing up.

Shawn Thorne’s eyes blazed brightly, "You are indeed here."

Chester, who had seen many scenes, couldn’t hide her tension, "Master Thorne, we’ve recently got two new girls here, they’re quite pretty..."

"It’s none of your business, get out." Shawn Thorne approached Yelena Hughes, holding a cheongsam in a retro green hue, still hanging on an hanger.

Yelena Hughes felt her scalp go numb, only coming to her senses when he grabbed her wrist.

"Change into it and let me see. It’s newly made and suits you well."

Yelena Hughes struggled to break free, "Let go, this is the young master’s territory, don’t mess around."

"Isn’t he not here? Just name your price."

Yelena Hughes, frightened by Jasper Yale’s previous words, knew this Shawn Thorne was a pervert. Chester attempted to help but was pushed far away by Shawn Thorne, "Get lost!"

His accompanying men dragged Chester away.

One must know that at The Sovereign Club, Chester might not be respected, but no one would mess with her. Yelena Hughes watched the private room door shut, her heart sinking to the depths.

"I don’t want your money, and I won’t put on that cheongsam either."

"Such a hard mouth, it seems it hasn’t been pried open forcibly before. Could it be that Jasper Yale can’t bear to use force on you?"

As Shawn Thorne spoke, his hand moved towards Yelena Hughes’s face.

She did not dare to act, but her face turned away, her eyes filled with restrained rage that Shawn Thorne found somewhat mesmerizing. "If you don’t agree, I’ll have to take action."

The two men he brought heard this and pressed forward. Yelena Hughes, despite her frame, couldn’t match them even if she were to fight to the bone.

She simply extended her hand. "Where’s the money, hand it over first."

"Ha, you got some sense now."

Shawn Thorne handed over the little cash he carried, but she wasn’t satisfied. "Not enough."

"You sure have a big appetite."

"Indeed, after all, I’ve been well-fed by the young master before. It seems compared to him, Master Thorne isn’t as generous with spending."

Shawn Thorne sensed her deliberate provocation but had to endure it, the proud male ego taking the bait.

He removed the watch on his wrist, "Is this enough?"

Yelena Hughes knew these items worn by young masters weren’t cheap. She took it without hesitation, taking the cheongsam along as well.

"You two leave first, surely I can’t undress with you men watching?"

With only one door in the private room, Shawn Thorne didn’t believe she could pull any tricks.

Chester wasn’t assured, waiting by the door. When Yelena Hughes saw her, she suppressed the tremor in her voice, "Chester, come inside and help me out, I’m not good at wearing this alone."

"Alright."

Yelena Hughes feared Shawn Thorne’s dissent and quickly continued, "The zipper is at the back, I can’t reach it."

She pulled Chester inside and closed the door, nervously stepping further back, placing the watch in Chester’s palm.

"Please help me, save me."

Chester glanced at it, pushing it back, "He’s a major client, there’s... there’s nothing I can do."

"Chester, find a way please, I know today won’t end well. If I actually change into this cheongsam, I might be taken away by this pervert and locked up, I’m a living person, not a livestock he can buy."

She pried Chester’s fingers open, forcing the watch into her hand.

"I’m begging you, even if you can’t help, just keep it."

Shawn Thorne grew impatient, knocking on the door outside. Yelena Hughes tidied her hair and then sat on the sofa, "Chester, you can leave now."

Otherwise, no one could leave.

Chester clenched the watch, her palm hurting, she pocketed it and quickly went to open the door.

Shawn Thorne squeezed past her inside, seeing Yelena Hughes seated, unmoving, without changing the cheongsam. "Were you intentionally playing games with me?"

"I don’t like wearing cheongsams."

"Didn’t you agree just fine earlier?"

Chester moved outside, taking large strides away.

Madeline Forest found Chester smoking intensively in the bathroom, smoke filling the space. "Chester, hurry, save Yelena..."

Madeline Forest tried pulling her out, but Chester stayed unmoving. "Let go."

"It’s too late, Yelena was taken to the top floor, I heard him say she’s to be locked in the sauna, to... to suffocate her, something’s going to happen, Chester..."

Chester thought of the young lady Yelena Hughes, she felt quite sorry but could she offend those top clients for her?

No.

Could she, as the manager at The Sovereign Club, call the police?

No.

Chester choked on the smoke, coughing intensely. Madeline Forest was tearing up with anxiety, "Are you going to watch her die?"

Chester’s hand trembled holding the cigarette, finally taking a deep drag, "She’s the young master’s person, surely he won’t ignore her life or death."

"Oh, right!" Madeline Forest grasped Chester’s wrist, "Quickly get the young master over."

At The Summit Gardens.

The nearby annex was as warm as always, with a fire roasting in the fireplace, Nancy Alden sitting in a rocking chair, gently swinging her legs.

Jasper Yale had been reading stories for quite long, lovingly taking the book from him, "Your throat must be getting dry."

"Are you tired? Let me carry you to bed." Jasper Yale’s face was framed by the firelight, with a touch of warmth.

"Not tired, I want to drink some juice."

Jasper Yale stood up to go to the kitchen, Nancy Alden grasped his fingers, "Where’s your phone?"

He fished it out from his pocket, placing it on the table, and only then did Nancy Alden release her hand satisfactorily.

He had said, the time once home was all hers.

The phone rang while Jasper Yale was still in the kitchen.

Nancy Alden answered and held the phone to her ear, Chester’s voice was urgent, "Young master!"

Without hearing Jasper Yale’s voice, not even a word, Chester didn’t dare to continue, only calling once more, "Young master, I have an urgent matter to discuss."

Nancy Alden’s lips curled slightly, "What urgent matter?"

Chester’s tone slowed, "Is he there?"

"Yes, the phone is right here, isn’t it? I don’t care who you are, don’t call again, otherwise..." Nancy Alden’s words were full of warning, "You’ll regret it."

She hung up the call, deleted the call log, and placed Jasper Yale’s phone back to its original spot.
