Chapter 274: Convenience Store Ice-cream

When Emily and Simon walked out of the company building, it was already half past three in the afternoon.

Because Crist had a sudden urgent work to take care of, he transferred the job of dropping her off at her apartment on Simon and the latter happily accepted it.

"How about ice-creams?" Simon suggested as they moved towards the parking lot where their cars were parked.

"Sure." Emily immediately nodded her head in approval. It had been quite some time since she and Simon spent some quality time alone and since they finally had the chance, she was eager to make use of it.

The two made their way to Simon’s sports car before heading out towards the downtown.

Around ten minutes later, Simon parked his car near a convenience store which made Emily arch her eyebrows in surprise.

"Here?" She asked while climbing out of the car.

"You don’t want to?" Simon asked as he gave a look in the store’s direction before turning his attention towards her with a questioning look on his face.

Emily smiled softly as she shook her head while replying, "I’m just surprised. Cone on, let’s get ice creams." She grabbed Simon’s arm and started dragging the man towards the store.

"Since we are already here, I think I’ll get some items for home too." She told her brother as the two of them entered the store and were immediately greeted by the sight of long rows of shelves containing all sorts of items that people needed on daily bases.

"How long are you planning to stay at your apartment?" Simon questioned as he picked a basket for her to store the items she was about to shop.

"Not for too long. We will probably return to the mansion by Friday evening." Emily replied as she grabbed a couple of packets of snacks and dropped them in the basket that her brother was holding.

Simon watched her picking two boxes of chocolate cookies as he asked, "Then what about your weekend plans? I heard that you, Shadow, and Kaiden are going out on a date?"

"That was the plan but Kaiden haven’t updated me about anything related to his preparations so far, that’s why I’m not sure if we are still going or not." Emily replied with a little shrug as she moved towards the section containing different flavors of ramyeon.

Simon watched as his sister once again grabbed boxes after boxes before dumping them in the already full basket.

"Don’t tell me you eat these junk foods when you stay at your apartment." He couldn’t help but wonder as he watched her collecting only junk food from the store.

"Do you think Shadow will allow that? He’s incharge of our meals most of the time and because of that I barely got to taste these treasures." Emily responded with a sad look on her face as she gazed at the bottle of sodas that she was about to pick.

"Then why are you buying these?" Simon asked as he looked at his sister in confusion.

Emily picked two bottles of soft soda before she turned to look at her brother and smiled innocently. "They are my late night snacks. Since I can’t eat them during meal times, I have find out a way to enjoy them a couple of times in a week. And before you ask, yes, Shadow knows about this but he doesn’t stop me because I don’t eat them on daily basis."

Simon just shook his head but said nothing. One thing that he had learned in the past few years was that if Shadow didn’t stop Emily from doing something, it meant that the thing was not dangerous for her.

He had finally started to trust the man when it came to Emily and he also agreed with Nick - probably no one in the world could keep Emily as safe as Shadow.

"What are you thinking about?" Emily asked when she noticed that her brother was not moving from his place.

Simon let out a small sigh as he shook his head slightly before moving to stand in front of her. "I’m just wondering what to gift you on your birthday. There’s barely a week left before you will officially turn twenty two. You have grown up so quickly."

Emily smiled as she noticed how emotional her brother appeared at that moment. "No matter how old I’ll get, I’ll always be your llittle sister who loves you a lot."

Simon finally smiled as he patted her head before taking a hold of her hand as he started pulling her in the direction of the cashier as the ice creams were also stored there.

The two of them picked their favorite flavors before making the payment and heading towards a window table to enjoy the ice creams and chat a little bit more.

******

A few hundred kilometers from the bustling City A, a huge mountain range was standing in full glory. Its high peaks touching the clouds and shining as the evening’s sunlight fell on them.

One of these peaks was the location of a secret cave that had been built artificially by the dark creatures who were still determined to take over the world and rule it.

In one of the huge and dimly lit rooms built inside the cave, around forty people in cloaks were gathered around a map of City A that focused mostly on the locations of the three big families that ruled the city.

Another person in dark red cloak entered the room and was greeted by all those who were present there.

"Master, everything is ready." One of the men notified the person in the crimson cloak.

The red cloak person took off the hood of their cloak and the face of a woman came in the view.

Long black hair, obsidian eyes, pale skin and red painted lips, she was beautiful but her aura screamed darkness and cruelty.

"Good. The only thing left now is to wait. Once the timing is right, we will visit out dear girl to present her with the best birthday gift of her life."
