Chapter 273: Crist wants to know the full story

Emily let out a small sigh before she replied, "I didn’t return to the mansion that night because Shadow needed to rest. He was in bad condition because he overexerted his powers and tried to suppress his hunger when he clearly needed to feed."

Crist shook his head as he spoke, "No wonder he seemed so tired these days. Seems like even the Supreme Immortal can have bad days."

Emily chuckled softly at his words. Only if he knew just how worse Shadow’s days could turn out to be sometimes.

"So he’s tired... Is that why he’s still sleeping?" Crist asked when he realized that he still hadn’t received the answer to his initial question.

"Kind of. You know his personality. He won’t rest even if he’s on the verge of passing out but in his current state, he needed to rest for a couple of days. That’s why..."

Emily trailed off as the elevator door opened on the seventeenth floor and the two of them stepped into a huge lobby that was decorated with potted plants and limestone statues.

"And...?" Crist questioned as he tapped her arm with his index finger and gazed at her with curious eyes.

"You are so annoying," Emily muttered as she brushed off his finger and headed toward Nick’s office.

"Since we knew he won’t rest no matter how much we will tell him to, I asked Bianca for a strong sleeping potion and made him drink it with a cup of orange juice." She confessed with a straight face.

"I don’t believe that Shadow didn’t realize your intentions. How come he didn’t find out about the potion?" Crist questioned as he knocked on the CEO’s office door.

They both heard Nick’s voice allowing them to enter and only then did the two of them walk inside the spacious office room.

Domenic was on a phone call so he signaled them to wait for him for a while as he continued to discuss some sort of proposal with the other party.

Crist led her to the huge floor to the ceiling glass window where sofas were placed around a wooden coffee table.

"Continue..." He told her as they both took seats around the table, making sure to sit by her side to listen to the entire story.

"You...! Of course, he knew. I think he went along with it because he wasn’t aware of just how strong the potion was. He should have thought that he will only fall asleep for a couple of hours, and not days. The effect of the potion will wear off tonight." Emily told him the rest of the story hurriedly so he won’t pester her anymore.

Crist relaxed in his seat as he looked at her with pity while shaking his head as if he was utterly disappointed by her. "You are in deep trouble, sis. Did it ever occur to you that Shadow won’t like you playing tricks on him? Not only that but you even dared to walk around the city without any protection with you. What are you even thinking?"

Emily gave him a not-so-happy look as she folded her arms and crossed her legs as if trying to defend herself with her posture. "It’s the middle of the day, I don’t think anything will happen. Besides, who said that I’m without any protection. Even though he’s sleeping, I know that his people are still following me around. I can always feel Irene’s presence around me."

Crist looked at her for a couple of moments as if trying to read whether she was lying or telling the truth but he knew immediately that his sis was telling the truth. Besides, she was poor at lying.

"You keep making me worry about you all the time. Just for this once, I won’t tell Domenic about it. But you better not repeat such mistakes. Don’t you dare go anywhere without security and I’ll be dropping you off after lunch."

Emily finally relaxed as a small smile appeared on her lips. She moved forward to punch her brother’s cheek as she whispered, "You are the best."

Crist slapped her hands away as he rubbed his cheeks before pulling his phone out of his pocket. "Come, help me order food for our lunch."

A few blocks away from the Alessandro Corporation, a black SUV was parked next to a cafe, and inside the car sat two very familiar figures.

"I need to go. Emy and my brothers are waiting for me." Leo muttered as he texted back Crist, telling him that he was on his way to the company. 𝒇𝒓𝒆𝒆𝙬𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝒎

Rylan immediately wrapped his arms around his mate as he buried his face in the crook of his neck. "Can you not leave? I don’t want to let you go."

Leo hurriedly put his phone back in his pocket before he replied to his boyfriend. "Stop being so clingy. We just spent the entire morning together and you are still not satisfied."

Rylan made a pout as he adjusted his chin on Leo’s shoulder while gazing at the latter’s side profile. "I want to cling to you for the rest of my life. I’ll handcuff you to my bed and won’t let you go."

"You...!" Leo could feel his cheeks burning as he glared at his shameless boyfriend. It seemed like the young master Sullivan was becoming bolder with each passing day.

A smile made its appearance on Rylan’s lips as he noticed Leo’s flustered state. "Did the idea of being handcuffed to my bad excite you? I think you will enjoy it." He couldn’t help but tease him more.

"Shameless!" Leo muttered as he looked away from Rylan but didn’t try to pull himself out of the latter’s arms at all.

Rylan chuckled softly as he grazed his nose lightly against Leo’s jawline. "Only for you, babe." He whispered next to Leo’s ear before placing a soft kiss on his earlobe. "Let me drop you at the Alessandro Corporation."
