The Broken Angel & Her Overprotective Brothers-Chapter 275: The Weekend Date
Emily slowly walked inside her apartment and swiftly closed the front door behind her while making sure to not make any sort of sound.
Her plan was to hurriedly make her way to her bedroom and get changed in comfortable clothes before heading over to Shadow’s room to check on him.
However, her luck wasn’t as good as she wanted it to be. As soon as she entered the living room, she was greeted by the sight of Shadow standing in the center of the room while staring at her with an unreadable expression on his face.
"S-shadow..." Emily tried to speak but couldn’t find the right words to say as the grim look on the man’s face was making her nervous. Why did she even think that she won’t get caught? When her luck had been good in case of defying Shadow’s rules?
"Where have you been?" Shadow asked as he stood still in his place while looking straight into her eyes. His voice came out too calm for Emily’s good.
"I... I just went to meet my brothers... and... and I only went outside this afternoon. I didn’t step out of the apartment yesterday or this morning at all. Be-besides... Simon dropped me off here. I wasn’t alone. Ca-can you not..." Emily started rambling and it only became worse as Shadow suddenly moved toward her.
"Shadow... Please don’t be angry. I di-didn’t mean to... Huh?" She trailed off as surprise took over her nervousness when the man came to stand in front of her and pulled her in his arms.
Shadow let out a small sigh of relief as he folded his arms around the slender frame of the girl and felt his soul and body relaxing immediately.
"Why didn’t you pick up my calls, Princess? If not for my powers sensing that you were safe and happy..." He didn’t complete his sentence as he let out another sigh while tightening his arms around her.
Just recalling the moment when he suddenly woke up a couple of hours ago and found that he was all alone in the apartment while his mate was gone, one couldn’t even imagine the horror that took over him.
Thankfully, his soul sensed that she was somewhere safe and was enjoying her time which finally helped him to calm down.
"You called?" Emily asked as she hurriedly took out her phone from the bag that was still dangling over her shoulder. A long sigh left her lips as she noticed that there were over a dozen calls from Shadow and her phone was on silent mode.
"It’s on silent mode. I’m so sorry." She recalled turning on the silent mode during her lunch with her brothers so that she won’t be disturbed by any calls from the company.
"Did you try calling any of my brothers?" She asked while setting her phone and purse on the coffee table.
"I tried to call Crist but he also didn’t answer. But then I received a message from Domenic telling me that you are at the company." Shadow told her as he still kept his hands wrapped around her.
"Crist?" Emily was surprised to know that her brother didn’t answer Shadow’s call. Was it just a coincidence, or did he purposely plan to get her into trouble? She needed to talk to her brother to make sure he won’t make such trouble again.
"It’s alright. You are back home." Shadow spoke when he noticed the frown that appeared on Emily’s beautiful face.
He took a last deep breath of her sweet scent before pulling away from her. He rarely crossed his lines to approach her but at the moment, he was just too disturbed to mind what he was doing.
Emily also found herself relaxing as she pulled Shadow to take a seat beside her on the sofa before she reached out for her purse and took out an ice cream that was surrounded by a cold spell.
"Here! Have this one. It’s your favorite flavor - mint choco." The disgust was pretty clear in her voice as she handed him the ice cream. She still couldn’t believe that anyone could like such a weird flavor.
"Who put the spell on it?" Shadow asked as he accepted the ice cream and immediately noticed that the spell didn’t belong to Emily.
"The store owner was a witch," Emily explained as she watched the man take the first bite. "We are cool now, right?" She asked after a couple of seconds.
Shadow remained silent as he took a few more bites of his ice cream. "As long as you won’t repeat it. I know that you care about me and I really appreciate it. But please don’t take such risks again."
Emily nodded her head in understanding immediately like a good girl before she spoke, "By the way... I’m aware that Irene and the others follow me all the time and they have been doing so ever since I asked you to dismiss the bodyguard team."
Shadow didn’t respond as he continued to enjoy his ice cream. He already knew that she was aware of his men following her in the shadows to assure her safety. And even though he knew that his men were capable of protecting her and they would do everything to protect her, he still couldn’t help but worry about her.
The silence was disturbed when Emily’s phone started ringing, she turned off the silent mode when she checked her phone for Shadow’s missed calls a few moments ago.
A small smile bloomed on her lips as she noticed the caller id. It was her mate calling her. She picked up the call and was immediately greeted by his sweet voice.
The two of them talked for a few minutes before hanging up. Shadow noticed that his Princess seemed pretty excited as she turned her full attention to him. "Kaiden has prepared everything for our weekend date. We will be traveling out of the city."
A sigh escaped his lips as he realized that he could no longer be saved from this upcoming date.
