Chapter 87: Move Aside (Ch.87)

Askel awakened to a pounding ache in his head, his eyes fluttered open and he squinted slightly, his hand lifting up to rub his aching temple.

The world tilted slightly around him and a strange exhaustion tugged at his muscles which was a foreign feeling to Askel.

Askel groaned slightly as he let his eyes flutter closed to steady his vision, before they came open again,

Askel let his gaze wander over the unfamiliar surrounding and it took him only a heartbeat to recall exactly where he was and the events that had just passed.

"Zariah!" Askel exclaimed as he shot up to his feet in a flash, heading out of the room only to have his path blocked by Luther.

A ferocious snarl escaped Askel’s lips as his eyes narrowed into a deadly glare, his wolf growling furiously in his mind, demanding him to rip apart whoever stood in their way.

"Where is she?!" Askel snarled in a chilling cold tone.

"My King... please calm down and hear me out." Luther began to reason but Askel cut him off immediately.

"Where. Is. Zariah?!" Askel growled out in an animalistic tone, enunciating each word clearly, his golden orbs blazing furiously, their deep glow revealing the presence of his wolf.

"Apprehended by the Sea King, in the dungeons of the palace, but Askel you can’t go there..." Luther pleaded but Askel clearly did not have the patience to listen to anything else his second in command had to say.

All that resounded in Askel’s mind was the fact that his mate, his queen had been locked up in the dungeons.

To think the Sea King had actually dared to apprehend Zariah over the life of some merman,

The very same merman Zariah had let go even after he had fallen to the possession of some charmer demon spirit and tried to harm her.

Rage unlike any Askel had ever felt before surged through him.

Askel regretted sparing the merman back in the Ethereal Domain, if only he had ripped his throat out then, Zariah would not have had to suffer such injustice.

’Kill them all!!’ Vance, Askel’s wolf growled furiously, Askel’s beast echoed his support with a fierce roar, and for once, Askel agreed with them.

"Move aside." Askel ordered in a chilling cold tone.

"My King, this is a fragile situation, we cannot make any moves at this time. The dungeons will definitely be well guarded, you don’t actually plan to break into it, do you?" Luther asked in concern.

"Break into?" Askel scoffed,

Breaking into was a gross understatement compared to what he intended to do, Askel planned to begin with tearing down the dungeons and then a whole lot more damage would follow,

By the time Askel was done, the Sea King could then decide if he truly intended to take on the Ethereal Domain.

And Askel did hope he dared, because then, he would make an example of the Sea King to ensure everyone in the supernatural realm would understand clearly that laying a hand on Askel’s woman was certain death!

"My King, do think about this. We have come to prevent a war, we should tread with caution."

"The Sea King requests your presence in the throne room and has been waiting for you to awaken. Go to him first and afterwards we decide on what steps to take. " Luther reasoned.

Luther’s words only served to infuriate Askel even more, Askel could not believe Luther was actually telling him to tread with caution.

In this situation, Askel saw no reasons why he had to tread with caution, if there was anyone who needed to tread with caution, then it most certainly was the Sea King.

To think the Sea King actually dared request his presence, it seemed he was yet to understand that he would be better off not appearing before Askel for the rest of his days.

"Who cares about the Sea King?! Move aside Luther! I won’t ask you again!" Askel snarled as he brushed past Luther.

"My King! At least consider what Lady Zariah would have wanted you to do! Why do you think she sent us away earlier?" Luther said, hurrying after Askel.

Askel paused, his eyes narrowing into a frown as he recalled Zariah had been the one to put him to sleep with some spell.

Askel understood her will, she had said she did not want the Ethereal Domain involved, but how could Askel stand on the side lines when the one person who meant the world to him was being wronged?

How could Askel turn a blind eye and watch his beloved in pain, when he was meant to protect her and shield her from all the pains and sorrows of the world.

"She doesn’t expect me to just stand aside and watch as Himan does as he pleases, does she?! She doesn’t expect me to watch her be accused and treated like some criminal, does she?!"

"I cannot Luther! I will not!" Askel snarled, his eyes blazing, the mere thought of Zariah locked up in a dingy, dark dungeon driving Askel mad with rage.

If truly that was what Zariah expected of him, to turn a blind eye to her plight, Askel was afraid he could not comply with this wish of hers,

He was willing to do anything she asked of him, give her the world if she just said the word but this...?

Askel would rather stand on the receiving end of her scorn and atone to her for the rest of his life for going against her will.

"Lady Zariah is My King’s mate, it is without a doubt that she understands your difficulties, she would never place you in a position where you are forced to watch her in pain."

"Lady Zariah left orders to assure you that she is of Crimson Moon, even King Himan would have to think twice before harming her."

"I believe all she wants is for My King to approach this situation rationally."

" Lady Zariah’s sole mission is to restore peace to the supernatural realm, it is for this reason the Crimson Alpha dispatched her in response to our invitation."

"She would never approve of the Ethereal Domain declaring war on the Sea Kingdom, that would be against everything Lady Zariah and the Crimson Moon stands for."

"I bid My King to think of Lady Zariah’s will and restrain yourself. We will get her out, but not by breaking into the dungeons and starting a war."

"The Sea King stands to loose more if a war were to break out between our two species, he will be besieged on both sides by the floral domain and our Ethereal Domain."

" With the Ethereal King here, even if the Sea King grew another head, he would not lay a hand on the Ethereal Queen." Luther reasoned,

Askel’s hand curled up into fists as he sucked in a deep breath in a bid to restrain his wolf,

Askel knew Luther was right, so long as he was here, King Himan simply was not daring enough to hurt Zariah, but if Askel were to start a fight first,

Then Askel knew the Sea King well enough to know he also would not back down, he would stand his ground regardless of the consequences.

It was the steadfast and unyielding personality of the Sea King that had won him Askel’s respect in the first place.

’Askel! Don’t you dare give in to them.’

It took every ounce of restraint Askel had to force his wolf and beast to retreat to the back of his mind.

"Fine, I will go see the Sea King. But Creator helps him he has hurt Zariah in anyway, I will have his head!" Askel seethed,

Askel passed a glance at the door to Zariah’s room in their shared quarters, his gaze lingering for a moment before he stormed out of his quarters.

Emerging from his quarters, Askel was not surprised to see two battle mers standing guard outside the doors.

Askel growled low at the fact that the Sea King had planted guards at his door, but he guessed considering the present situation, he should not have expected otherwise.

Besides, the Sea King knew clearly that not even a hundred of his battle mers could prevent Askel from doing as he pleased.

"Are you two here to keep me in?" Askel asked in an amused tone.

It seemed Luther noticed Askel’s rising anger and so he immediately explained the situation through their mind link.

’King Himan knows better than to set guards on you, the battle mers only just arrived to escort you to the throne room.’ Luther explained.

"King Askel, we only came to convey our orders, by orders of the Sea King..." One of the two battle mers began to explain but a deadly glare from Askel silenced him.

"Get lost." Askel warned as he walked past and made his way down the halls, heading for the throne room.
