The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 88: Favours ()
Zariah sat in the dungeons of the Sea Palace, her back leaned against the wall and her eyes closed in meditation as the royal siblings interrogated her.
"Lady Zariah! You know the significance of the tide trident to the Sea Kingdom! Carting away with it is a crime punishable by death!" Prince Treyton reasoned,
Zariah ignored Prince Treyton’s words, she was not in any mood to give any responses to their questions.
"Surrender the tide trident and Kristen this instant!" Princess Shariah roared furiously, angered by her brother’s calm approach.
While Prince Treyton tried to play it mild and reason it out, Princess Shariah was barely restraining herself from lunging at Zariah,
However neither of their approaches would be able to move Zariah to speak when she was not willing to.
And presently, at this moment, Zariah had no intentions to speak whatsoever, not when she knew whatever she said would not make any difference.
The facts were clear, she had snatched the tide trident and Kristen also right under the nose of the Sea King himself.
"Lady Zariah, staying silent at this time will not help your case in anyway, my father is raging. Whatever your intentions were, now would be the best time to explain it." Prince Treyton continued, ignoring his sister’s rage.
"Intentions?! What intentions?! Clearly everyone believes the Sea Kingdom is easily bullied! First it was that Fairy Queen and now it is a mere Head Warrior of Crimson Moon!"
"Do you think your Alpha will still be able to protect you?!" Princess Shariah raged. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Again, Zariah gave no response to the words from the royal siblings, there was nothing to be said,
Not from Zariah’s end at least, clearly the royal siblings had quite a lot to say as they had been raging outside Zariah’s cell for quite sometime now.
"Is this how the Crimson Moon educates their wolves?! A representative of the Crimson Moon commits such unforgivable crimes?!"
" Do you believe the Sea Kingdom is intimidated by the power of Crimson Moon?! Do not take our regard for granted! Your tales of glory are old and long forgotten!"
"If the Crimson Moon stands against us, we will topple them as well!" Princess Shariah growled out fiercely, her true opinion spilling out in her anger.
"Shariah! Watch your words!" Prince Treyton cautioned,
"Why? Let her speak, I would like to hear it." Zariah finally spoke up.
"I..." Princess Shariah began again but a stern glare from Prince Treyton silenced her.
Princess Shariah growled furiously as she turned around and stormed out of the dungeon.
"Lady Zariah, the Sea Kingdom holds great respect for Crimson Moon, this fact cannot be disputed."
"As such, we are willing to do the Crimson Alpha a favor and put this aside, provided the tide trident is returned and Kristen cured." Prince Treyton continued as though they were having some sort of business transaction.
"Favor?" Zariah asked in amusement, her eyes still closed as she shook her head slightly.
To think the Sea Kingdom would actually consider anything they did for the Crimson Moon at this point as ’A Favor’, it was clear they did not understand the meaning of brotherhood.
It was clear both the good and bad of the supernatural realm had forgotten they had once sworn fealty to the Crimson Moon through an unbreakable blood vow.
If favors were being counted, how could the races of the supernatural realm ever dream to repay the favor they owed to Crimson Moon?
The favor of hundreds of Crimson Wolves sacrificed to restore the peace of the supernatural realm, but of course, the Crimson Moon never counted favors,
Yet the Sea Kingdom hoped to do the Crimson Moon a favor, in the end, all the races only cared for their own well being,
It was obvious in how the Sea King was willing to flood the Floral Domain regardless of how many lives would be lost just to prove a point that they were not the type to accept injustice lying low.
It was obvious in how a mere accusation had turned the entire supernatural realm against the Crimson Moon in the blink of an eye, with no one willing to step out and investigate the truth.
Zariah wondered what they would do if she revealed her identity as Crimson Alpha at this point? Obey her orders to retreat?
Zariah doubted that, the Crimson Moon held influence over the supernatural species but not enough to enforce Zariah’s will upon them.
Zariah guessed they would instead justify their cause before her and then expect her to chose a side and if she refused, perhaps she would still have ended up in this same dungeon.
Zariah could never let the supernatural rulers have any leverage over the Crimson Moon, it was still okay if they believed she was a messenger, then they would be cautious of the Crimson Alpha’s retaliation if they were to step out of line.
There was a certain leverage attached, now when everyone believed her to be dispensable.
But if they knew she was Crimson Alpha, out of the barrier, with only a few warriors for protection and in this case none,
If Zariah were in their shoes, she knew exactly what she would do.
If the Sea Kingdom was able to apprehend the Crimson Alpha and pressure the Crimson wolves with her life to force them into picking a side,
Then the battle was as good as over, as unruly as the Floral Domain was, they did not stand a chance against the Crimson Moon.
Zariah shook her head slightly, this supernatural realm, it was far more different from all the stories and tales she had grown up hearing.
It was no wonder Lord Kodin had once told Zariah that there was much she did not know about the supernatural realm...dark, horrible things that would tear the realm apart from the shadows.
The unity and bond shared was nothing but a thing of the past and even the respect granted to the Crimson Moon was merely on the surface,
Deep within, Zariah could see that the supernatural rulers were actually wary of the Crimson Moon as they were of one another.
The extent of the power of Crimson Moon was unknown and for that, they feared them.
At the present rate, the supernatural realm would self destruct faster than any dark or horrible thing could destroy it.
Zariah did not particularly blame them, centuries had passed and the supernatural realm had experienced many changes.
Loyalties had changed, ambitions had arisen, greed was stirred in the hearts and each person was an enemy to the other.
Such a world, this was precisely how the darkness had been formed in the first place, these were the things it fed on and strengthened itself,
And if things continued like this, Zariah wondered just how long the element seal could hold.
"The tide trident...or Kristen? What if I said you can only have one?" Zariah asked in a blank tone.
"You bitch! Do you consider yourself untouchable?!" Princess Shariah shrieked.
Zariah shrugged casually, not at all fazed by Princess Shariah’s reaction.
"Perhaps, perhaps not, it depends on if you have the ability." Zariah replied calmly.
"Lady Zariah, if you insist on this, I fear the Sea Kingdom will have to offend the Crimson Alpha." Prince Treyton said,
"If you dare, then by all means, do as it pleases you." Zariah replied in a blank tone.
Prince Treyton was quiet for a moment before he released a grunt of frustration.
"I honestly do not know what you are playing at Lady Zariah, but I do know this is not you. I cannot do anything if you do not let me help you, as a friend." Prince Treyton pleaded.
Zariah sighed as her eyes finally fluttered open to meet the honesty in Prince Treyton’s gaze.
There were times when Zariah could not understand what it was about the supernatural realm that was so special, her ancestors spared no efforts to protect it.
And there were other times were Zariah understood it better, in the end, the supernatural realm was home to the Crimson Moon also.
And then there were still those of noble heart like Prince Treyton, those who were worth protecting.
Hence a little discomfort in the dungeons was nothing compared to the sacrifices her ancestors had made for this very same supernatural realm.
"Your thoughts are appreciated Treyton, but take my word for it and do your duty as Prince. I will handle my own business." Zariah assured in a calm tone.
"This is not going to end well... for any of us." Prince Treyton murmured as he stepped back from Zariah’s cell and nodded.
"Very well then, I will let my father know of your stance." Prince Treyton said as he made to head away but stopped.
"Kristen and the trident..." Prince Treyton began in a low tone.
"Rest assured, they will be safe and returned to the Sea Palace in one piece." Zariah promised.
"Then I shall hold you to your word, Lady Zariah." Prince Treyton said as he headed out of the dungeons.
