The Alpha King's Nemesis-Chapter 149: About Her ()
"Here, drink it while it’s still warm. It should help you sleep too." Darren said as he took a seat beside Eloneth and offered a hand to help her seat up.
Eloneth sat up and took the took the tonic, lifting it to her lips, she did not even take notice of the bitter taste since her attention was focused elsewhere.
Eloneth’s eyes were fixed on Darren as it had been all the while.
It was as though Eloneth feared if she took her eyes off of her mate for even a moment, he would disappear.
"You keep watching me...I am not leaving you know." Darren assured with a small smile on his lips.
Eloneth returned the smile, shaking her head slowly as she finished off the tonic.
"I know... I just... I can’t help it." Eloneth admitted hesitantly, a blush coloring her cheeks.
"Adorable." Darren complimented, his hand moving to brush the strands of hair that fell over Eloneth’s face before his hand rested against her cheek.
Eloneth leaned into Darren’s touch, a quiet sigh of delight escaping her lips.
"Darren... I know you are concerned for your sister’s well being and I want to help you ease your burden even just a little bit." Eloneth admitted truthfully.
"I do not know anything about werewolf ailments or how they can be treated. And if our healer is also at a loss, my knowledge hardly counts for anything...but perhaps there will be answers in the archives?" Eloneth suggested.
Eloneth had already thought over it, the archives of the floral domain had the longest standing and most accurate records dating back to thousands of years, long before the dark war.
There were all sorts of knowledge in the archives, related to every specie in existence and even those that had gone extinct after the dark war.
Eloneth had never heard of a wolf shifter losing her wolf side but Eloneth was certain if they scoured through the archives, they would find something that could be helpful.
It was only that the archives of the floral domain were only accessible to the noble blooded fairies, it was completely inaccessible to outsiders.
"The archives of the floral domain are not so easily accessible, it hides all the greatest secrets of the fae race. Queen Heveneth would never allow it." Darren pointed out the obvious.
"I will make sure my mother will not be an obstacle, so go with me please? I just... I want to do something for her... for you, anything." Eloneth pleaded hopefully.
Darren was quiet for a moment, considering Eloneth’s words.
If nothing else, there were many mysteries in the supernatural realm at this time, especially with the return of the forsaken.
Perhaps the records of the archives could tell something of all that was happening...if Darren could not restore Zariah’s wolf, he felt he could at least ease the burden of her responsibilities.
"Very well." Darren accepted Eloneth’s suggestion.

The archives of the floral domain were far greater than Darren could have anticipated.
For a vast space as far as Darren’s eyes could see, there were rows and rows of book shelves overflowing with ancient volumes each more voluminous than the other.
Queen Heveneth did mention ot was entirely impossible to go through every volume stored here and Darren now understood what she meant.
Every event that had happened in the past thousand years were recorded in detail and stored here, there were volumes that spoke of every kind of topic.
Darren could not even begin to imagine just what this bountiful amount of knowledge gathered over centuries was worth, it was even greater than the archives of Crimson Moon.
"It is a relief the volumes are categorized by year and contents, otherwise this would have been a futile attempt." Eloneth murmured as she glanced through another volume out of the pile she had pulled out.
Darren watched Eloneth in silence, he could see the strain and exhaustion on her face, her lips were still pale and every so often, she would shiver unconsciously.
The chilling cold of the frozen had seeped in deeply and Darren knew Eloneth would not recover from it so easily, she had been in the water for far too long.
Yet, Eloneth determinedly searched through volume after volume and had been for the past hour since they had gotten here.
There was no complaints or sighs of exhaustion, she was completely focused even when she had searched for an entire hour and found nothing worthy of being noted.
"You should take a break, the healer says you are still in recovery and need to rest." Darren suggested, and not for this first time.
"I’m fine, Darren. We have to get through all of this before sun down." Eloneth replied with a smile, gesturing to all the volumes they had retrieved.
Darren made to protest but thinking over it, he fell silent and just watched Eloneth, a ghost of a smile on his lips.
"Now you are the one staring." Eloneth pointed out.
"I cannot help it." Darren replied with a quiet chuckle.
"Help what...?" Eloneth asked, lifting her gaze to Darren, her lips slightly pouted.
"Help thinking about just how adorable you are... Zari would love you." Darren admitted honestly.
"Would she?" Eloneth asked with interest.
Darren nodded, the thought of Zariah stirred that terrible ache and despair in his heart and Darren lowered his gaze for a moment.
As much as he tried to be optimistic and hopeful, Darren had never seen Zariah in such a situation before... she was always the strong one.
The one who was steady and constant, calm in every situation, infallible even after losing her wolf.
Darren was not certain how to react to seeing Zariah in such a condition, he just could not bear it.
With a quiet sigh, Darren also picked up another volume and pulled it open, glancing through the pages.
"Your sister...tell me about her...tell me about you, your family... the Crimson Moon... just, I want to hear you speak about the things and people you love." Eloneth requested out of the blue.
"That would take a long while..." Darren pointed out, knowing Eloneth was trying to distract him from his worrisome thoughts.
"Have we anything else to do?" Eloneth asked with a raised brow.
Darren chuckled quietly and nodded his head in understanding.
