Taming the Hybrid Mate: Desired by Five Alphas-Chapter 124: Who will be the prom queen
Andria’s POV
She left the stage for other form teachers to present their class results, and as soon as they finished, the headmistress took over the microphone.
"Now I would give the microphone to the student council president to comment on the results, and also make other announcements."
I stood slowly, making sure I stared into Allison’s eyes. I couldn’t get enough of the priceless expression on her face.
"I know the results might not be what some of you expected," I began, facing the class. "But this is not the end. It’s only the beginning.
You don’t expect your student council president to be a failure, do you?" I asked, staring at each of them, whispering into each other’s eyes.
"It will be such a shame and disaster to Ashwood Academy. I can’t wait to serve all of you in other ways."
All eyes were on me, even Allison’s angry gaze. I’m sure she was literally dying in her seat, witnessing me steal the spotlight, which she once possessed.
"Some of you passed, some of you barely scraped by. I won’t point fingers, but you know who you are."
My eyes flicked briefly toward Tricia and Alexa, who shifted uncomfortably. "Next session, I expect better. For all of us. Let’s put our effort into making Ashwood greater than it already is."
A murmur of agreement rippled.
"I could help with that as your student council president. How about we start a reading club, where we teach each other in preparation for the exams?
So that even if we have those who come last, they wouldn’t perform poorly,"
There was a sudden round of applause; every student was gleeful and happy with my suggestion, including the headmistress, who wore a proud expression on her face.
The only students left out of the celebration were, of course, the trio.
Aven, of course, was observing the scenery and the tension between me and his sister. He gave a slight smirk and stood up to leave the hall.
The other two stood up as well, walking out of the hall like they owned it. The headmistress didn’t dare to speak, because they were, of course, the Alpha successors.
I took a deep breath, ignoring them and continued. "Now, with exams over, it’s time for post-exam activities. We have intergroup sports coming up, where we’ll be divided into teams and compete against each other."
This drew a few excited murmurs. Sports always did; it came with a weird spirit of unity and excitement.
"There will also be a prom night for the graduating set, and we will be choosing our prom king and queen after the sports event against the prom the next night.
They would be our prom king and queen for the next academic year, so it would be wise to choose wisely.
Preparations will begin soon, so start thinking about who you’ll be asking." My words caused a wave of giggles, whispers, and side glances across the room.
"And finally," I added, raising my voice slightly to command attention again, "the student council will be accepting suggestions for other activities. The best one will be chosen and organized for everyone’s benefit. So if you have ideas, don’t keep them to yourselves."
The room again erupted in whispers and murmurs.
"We can’t wait to see who is going to be this year’s prom queen."
"I already have an idea!"
"Alexa would be my candidate."
"I feel like Liara is best suited for that, judging that she already is a princess."
Excited whispers filled the air, and soon they were arguing amongst themselves who was likely to become prom queen, and the headline figures were Alexa and Liara.
I sat down in my seat after my speech ended. Becca nudged me, "I’m liking this new you, Ari the president, to lighten the mood of everyone and foster unity."
I smiled faintly, my chest loosening for the first time that day. "Just doing my job. Let’s hope that the event actually fosters unity, and not becomes another avenue for a big fraction in the school.’
But as I glanced across the room, my eyes met Allison’s. Her smile was gone, replaced by a cold stare.
I matched her stare equally until she looked away. I wasn’t backing down for her, not even for her brother.
I took a glance at Alexa, and she wore a proud smile. Some students were chanting her name like she had already won the prom queen.
Her outfit wouldn’t beat yours on that day, nor would her composure and strides on the runway.
"You are built for this, and I’m sure you are going to beat her to that," Becca encouraged Liara, who already looked sunken from being placed side by side with Alexa.
"She isn’t prettier than you; moreover, you have a better heart, and you are smarter. Without doubt, you will win the judges’ points," Michaela added.
"You already know that I would unfailingly be part of the judge. Not going to be partial, but I’m sure you are going to pull the minds of other judges, but as for me, you already got mine," I said, nudging her slightly.
A faint smile appeared on her lips, and that alone was enough to make me smile too.
"Your form teachers will come to your class, and share you in groups, just like Aria had just said," The headmistress announced.
"You are to remain in that group throughout the sports activities. The sports outlined include: Baseball, basketball, tennis and football. 𝒻𝓇𝑒𝘦𝘸𝑒𝒷𝓃ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝒸ℴ𝘮
The she-wolves in each group are to serve as cheerleaders during the football game, but they are also eligible to participate in the other game, the female category. Now you can head back to your classes, everyone."
Everyone stood up, each in their own bubble of excitement. Some were hurrying off to their classes, while others walked briskly.
But they were all whispering about the events that were about to take place in the academy.
"And you will see who becomes queen by popular demand,"
