System Awakening Era: I Have 10x Skill Effects-Chapter 11: Skill Effect 10x + Assassin Skill= Broken
That afternoon, Aamon rested to ease his fatigue. He opened a can of food and ate it, then leaned his body against the cabinet drawers as he rested.
Throughout the afternoon, people from the Haven Faction and Black Shade kept fighting without stopping.
Haven blamed Black Shade for the deaths of the five elite army members, while Black Shade defended themselves and refused to accept the accusations.
One faction accused, the other fought to defend themselves. There was clearly no way their conflict would end anytime soon.
Aamon also had no idea how the Army would react once they realized their elite members had died.
He rose from the floor and peeked through the gap in the window curtains.
That night, not many members of the two factions went out to hunt monsters.
The city streets looked empty and silent. Monsters hid in the dark, filthy alleys, waiting for careless humans to come their way.
Aamon was still in the room of that house. He opened his system panel and brought out the rare-tier item he had obtained.
[1x Rare-Tier Skill Scroll]
[Use?]
[Congratulations! You have opened the skill scroll]
[Death Sigil Skill]
[Desc: Marks a target with a sigil of death, increasing +75% damage for several seconds and reducing the target’s movement by 20%. If the target is killed while the sigil is active, the user recovers 25% Mana and receives a 50% skill cooldown reduction.]
Aamon was impressed.
The skill he obtained was a mark skill for enemies—something very fitting for the Assassin class. At first, he thought the skill scroll would only give a regular skill, but apparently that wasn’t the case.
[Apply skill as class skill?]
[First Skill] [Change?]
[Second Skill] [Change?]
Unfortunately, the third skill slot had not unlocked yet due to his level limit.
Comparing Shadow Stealth and Death Fang, it seems I should replace Death Fang with Death Sigil.
He decided to replace Death Fang with his new skill, Death Sigil. The replacement was successful, and the system panel appeared in front of Aamon’s eyes.
[Congratulations! Skill successfully equipped]
Time to see what this skill can really do.
Aamon stepped out of his room and appeared outside the house, on a small street connected to the main road.
He walked alone while gripping the Iron Essence Sword in his hand. His eyes constantly scanned the surroundings, his head moving left and right without stopping.
Aamon was making sure he could spot the monsters before they ambushed him. That was important, because a monster ambush could be fatal.
The main road was visible ahead, but Aamon suddenly stopped when he saw three insect monsters that resembled giant grasshoppers devouring the bodies of the five elite army members.
Even though they were dead, the Army apparently had no intention of retrieving the bodies of their former elite members.
They died disgracefully.
Their bodies became free food for the monsters. Their parents would only know they had fallen on the battlefield—there would be no honor ceremony for them.
Realizing that, Aamon regretted joining the Army even more.
He even felt disgusted remembering the elite uniform he once wore and proudly showed to others.
He gripped his sword tightly and moved forward.
[Assassin Skill: Shadow Stealth]
Aamon’s body disappeared into the darkness. His movement speed increased thanks to the buff. He ran out of the small street and saw that the three grasshopper monsters had not noticed his presence.
He only had eight seconds in stealth mode. Once the skill was activated, Aamon would have to wait fifteen seconds for the cooldown.
He jumped powerfully and landed on top of a car. His stealth mode vanished—the eight-second limit had ended.
Aamon appeared right above the car, and the attention of the three grasshopper monsters shifted as they sensed a sudden presence near them.
They screeched and roared, attacking Aamon and abandoning their food.
Aamon leaped far backward to avoid them, right before using his skill again.
I haven’t used the 10x skill effect again yet. Maybe I’ll try it now.
[Assassin Class: Death Sigil 10x]
[Skill Effect 10x Activated]
His speed and strength increased.
Purple needles appeared above his hands, and both of his eyes had already locked onto the three targets.
With a swinging motion of his arm, the three needles shot forward and struck the three grasshopper monsters.
The monsters jerked violently and were pushed back, their HP reduced and their movement slowed.
Aamon smiled widely, examining both of his hands carefully.
"This... is incredible power."
He moved quickly in flashes of purple light, slashing the three grasshopper monsters one by one until their bodies were cut apart with clean, precise slices.
The damage Aamon dealt to them had increased by 750%.
That meant even Aamon’s basic attacks were enough to kill the three grasshopper monsters.
Aamon watched as their HP dropped.
The monsters collapsed helplessly to the ground, their green blood pooling around the area and mixing with the blood of the five elite corpses.
He stretched out his hand and received the item drops from the three monsters.
[Congratulations! You obtained drop items:]
[+75 EXP || +30 Contribution Points || +30 Coins || 3x Monster Core]
They were still level 1 monsters.
Their strength was nowhere near comparable to Aamon’s current abilities.
The Assassin skills combined with the 10x effect proved extremely effective, killing the monsters in less than a minute.
Slowly, the effect of the 10x skill faded, and the consequences began to appear in Aamon’s body.
His chest hurt, as if it were tightening. But his body no longer felt exhausted or weak.
It was different from the first time he had used the 10x skill, when his body had immediately collapsed and fainted.
Now, Aamon was fine. The only thing he complained about was the pain in his chest.
There were no signs that he would faint. No signs that his body would give out.
He ran into one of the nearby buildings and rested there until the pain in his chest faded.
Twenty minutes passed.
Aamon began to feel the pain slowly subsiding.
He took a deep breath and slowly exhaled.
The Skill Effect 10x was extremely effective for killing monsters quickly, but that enormous power also came with dangerous risks.
However, Aamon had found a solution.
The backlash from the 10x skill effect could be neutralized if his CON attribute increased.
Aamon’s breathing gradually returned to normal. He was no longer gasping for air.
His body recovered, no longer tired, and the tightness in his chest disappeared.
After recovering, Aamon left the building and walked alone along the city’s main road.
His destination was not the Haven Faction. He was heading toward the Army Base.
It was quite easy to find the Army Base in the city. Aamon simply followed the trail of lights glowing in the silent city center.
Eventually, he found the military headquarters.
It was located on the western side of the city, filled with people and guarded by many soldiers.
Aamon walked along the main road with his sword in hand.
One of the soldiers noticed him and immediately demanded his identity.
"Stop! Who are you?!" one of the soldiers shouted.
"I’m part of the Army’s Elite Members. I’m from Chicago," Aamon replied.
"Chicago? What business do you have here?"
Aamon stopped when he realized several soldiers had already pointed their rifles at him.
The commander of the frontline unit at the base ordered his soldiers to remain calm. They all listened.
"You’re from Chicago? Who sent you here?" the man asked.
"Commander Robert," Aamon explained, showing the satellite phone Robert had given him. "You can talk to him through this phone."
The commander froze.
He knew very well that such phones were only owned by officers. If Aamon possessed one, it meant Commander Robert greatly valued his ability and status.
"Lower your weapons. He’s one of us," the man said, followed by his soldiers.
The man looked forward again, "What’s your name, kid?"
Aamon narrowed his eyes, "Aamon. Aamon Viremont."
"Aamon... come with me."
