Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 158: Notification
"I remember you. Have you informed the parents of the patient named Heath Sterling?" the nurse turned around pointing at Carter Porter, admonishing, "You young people fight without a care, ending up in the hospital, and still haven’t notified the parents? What are you waiting for?"
Thea Thorne had just stepped into the elevator, heard this, and immediately ran out.
Carter kept signaling the nurse with eyes full of imploration and pleading.
But the head nurse did not understand, nor did she want to, "Quickly inform the parents, otherwise I’ll find a way to do it!"
Thea rushed over, "I’ll inform them!"
"You stay out of this!" Carter was somewhat angry, "This matter doesn’t concern you. Don’t meddle. Heath already dislikes you, don’t make him annoyed at just the sight of you. You don’t want that, do you?"
The more Thea heard such extreme words, the more she couldn’t stand it. She defiantly took out her phone and stared at Carter, saying, "I’m calling Aunt Sterling right now. I’m telling you, Carter, when Aunt Sterling arrives, I’ll tell her you guys fought and ended up in the hospital, and you’re still hiding it from her."
"You’ll bear the consequences yourself!" Thea didn’t say another word, dialing Aunt Sterling’s number.
"That’s right, you kids are young, but when something happens, you should definitely inform the parents. Such childish behavior, really." The head nurse glared at Carter, "Learn more from the girls, their thoughts are meticulous!"
Carter was nearly in tears, feeling the urge to punch this head nurse to shut her up!
Perhaps it was too late; Aunt Sterling wasn’t answering the phone. Thea dialed several more times until finally, the call connected.
"Aunt Sterling! Heath is hospitalized!" Thea exclaimed anxiously. She was actually quite worried inside, not knowing Heath’s current situation.
"What!" Aunt Sterling on the other end immediately got out of bed, dragging Uncle Sterling to drive out, still in their pajamas.
"I don’t know what exactly happened. Auntie, please come quickly. I’ll send you the address."
After hanging up, Thea sent the address to Aunt Sterling.
Carter seemed deflated, with slumped shoulders and unsure what to do.
"Which ward is Heath in?" Thea asked.
Carter helplessly closed his eyes, slowly extending an arm to point at the farthest ward.
"You’re lying. I just saw, and he’s definitely not over there." Thea couldn’t understand why Carter was still lying to her at this point.
"Believe it or not." Carter wore a bitter expression, helplessly leaning against the wall, and slumped down exhaustedly.
"Take me there." Thea stood in front of him. "After all, we’re classmates. As long as you take me, I won’t tell Aunt Sterling that you’re hiding things from her."
Carter looked up, his eyes bloodshot, knowing that the matter couldn’t be concealed. But if he were to truly lead Thea there, it would mean betraying Heath.
And just then, the head nurse spoke again, "It’s the second-to-last room over there."
Thea recalled, her face changed dramatically, exclaiming, "That swollen one is Heath!"
"Oh my God! How did this happen?" Thea pulled Carter up, demanding, "What exactly did you guys do? Why is Heath like that? Why is he hospitalized and you’re not?"
Carter’s face turned pale. He shook Thea’s hand off, "I don’t know."
Thea’s breathing became rapid. She immediately ran over, opening the ward door and entering to find that the person lying in bed was indeed Heath!
"Heath! You... you..." Thea’s eyes reddened, nearly crying. She walked to Heath’s bedside, truly unable to bear seeing Heath in his current condition.
"I’ve called Aunt Sterling, they’re arriving soon. Don’t worry, just rest well."
Heath hadn’t expected to see Thea at this particular time, especially upon hearing that his parents were coming, his anger surged. Though his face showed no expression, his tone was icy cold.
"Get out..."
Thea ignored what he said, and Carter, looking ashamed, entered the ward but dared not come in further.
Heath looked at Carter with a glance that seemed he wanted to devour him!
A while later, Aunt Sterling and Uncle Sterling arrived. Upon seeing Heath’s appearance, both elders couldn’t hold back; Aunt Sterling cried, Uncle Sterling’s eyes turned red.
Heath saw his parents crying, and his eyes also reddened, feeling both angry and amused, "Why are you crying? I’m not dead!"
Currently, Heath didn’t know how badly swollen he was; he still thought he was quite handsome. But seeing each of their expressions, he only began to suspect something was off.
"Why the hell—did my face get destroyed or something?" Heath looked at Carter, "Give me a mirror."
Carter glanced at Aunt Sterling, who slightly nodded to signal her consent. Only then did Carter hand a mirror to Heath.
As Heath saw himself in the mirror, he suddenly couldn’t hold it together, "What the hell! Who the hell is this!"
In his excitement, his face hurt more, and even the stitched areas on his body throbbed.
Heath’s mind was only filled with how he clearly protected his head, so why did it swell to this ridiculous extent?
Wait... the head was protected, not the face...
Thea handed Aunt Sterling a few tissues, Aunt Sterling wiped her tears and asked, "What exactly happened?"
"I don’t know either... I just happened to be in the hospital, then saw Carter, and he brought me to find Heath." Thea glanced at Carter; she chose not to reveal his concealment.
Carter, whose palms were tense with sweat, finally felt a trace of relief.
"Carter, did you guys fight again?" Aunt Sterling never liked Heath’s friends, but luckily Carter wasn’t a bad kid. He had a kind heart, and always hung out with Heath, so she didn’t have much opinion of him, except that she couldn’t accept the two fighting.
"Mom, I fought by myself. If it weren’t for Carter, I would’ve been beaten to death." Heath said.
"Why did you fight? You’re so grown up, yet still so immature?" Aunt Sterling’s eyes reddened again, "Fighting couldn’t have left you like this... You look like this—how painful it is for your dad and me to see..."
Aunt Sterling cried more as she spoke, eventually unable to stop. Thea comforted her from the side, taking a long while to calm down.
"I didn’t want to fight; someone provoked me, but I didn’t expect they had numbers on their side. I was alone, so it ended up like this." Heath spoke with utter disdain as he fiercely tried to conceal the truth.
But Aunt Sterling and Uncle Sterling were ultimately Heath’s parents. Heath’s hand movements betrayed him; whenever he lied, his hands would unconsciously clench, and his thumb would rub against his index finger.
Uncle Sterling was the first to notice this, immediately realizing the situation wasn’t as simple as Heath said, knowing he was definitely hiding something.
