Sweet Wife So Charming: CEO: Hold Back Your Heart-Chapter 157: Bad Luck
"I said, I must take you away." Carter Porter hoisted Heath Sterling up, pulling one of his arms over his shoulder.
Heath’s legs were no longer able to walk, they kept trembling, leaving Carter with no choice but to carry him.
Heath’s people and Glen Guthrie’s people were mixed in the fight, because the people Carter brought were used to fighting; facing the security guards Glen hired was just like hitting chicks.
Carter put Heath in the car and immediately sped towards the hospital.
Heath’s current condition was very bad, he was lying in the back of the car, gradually slipping into unconsciousness.
——
The hospital.
Carter looked at Heath lying on the hospital bed, holding a phone in his hand, hesitating about something.
Heath had several injuries stitched up, already bandaged, Carter wasn’t sure whether he should call Heath’s parents now.
The nurse urged several times that such matters should be notified to the parents, but Carter was afraid Heath would disagree, so he hadn’t made the call.
His current thought was to wait for Heath to wake up and let him make the decision.
Two hours later, Heath finally woke up.
"Heath, you’re awake!" Carter stood up in surprise, "Good that you’re awake!"
Because he had been on an IV drip and the wounds had been treated, Heath now had a little strength to speak.
"You haven’t told Moira, right?" The first thing Heath did upon waking was fear that Moira Young knew about this; he didn’t want Moira to know he got hurt for fighting because of her.
Carter thought he would ask if he’d told Heath’s parents and was momentarily stunned before responding, "Didn’t tell her."
"So... should we tell your parents?"
Heath frowned slightly, his face swollen, "No."
"Alright, then let’s not say for now. Are you hungry? I’ll get you something to eat. The nurse said you should drink some porridge first, you can’t go without food." Carter spoke and then went out.
Since it was midnight, he didn’t know where to buy porridge, and after wandering around, he found that all the nearby shops were closed.
Then he thought about going back to the ward to order delivery, but just as he was entering the hospital door, he ran into someone he shouldn’t have.
"Carter, why are you here?" Not far away came Thea Thorne.
Carter was completely bewildered, "Why are you here in the middle of the night?"
"My cousin is in the hospital." Thea didn’t want to say much about her own matters, "What are you doing here?"
"It’s none of your business, so stay out." Carter shifted aside, ready to leave.
"You’re not allowed to leave!" In Thea’s mind, as long as Carter was here, Heath must be here too, so she suspected Heath was in the hospital.
"What are you doing?" Carter never liked Thea; her temper was worse than a stone in a cesspool, and he found it very annoying.
"Tell the truth, is Heath here?" Thea scrutinized him with a probing gaze.
"He’s not!"
Carter’s gaze was dodging somewhat, and as soon as Thea mentioned Heath’s name, he got a little nervous, increasing her suspicion.
"If you don’t tell me, I’ll search him room by room!"
Carter was almost driven mad, "Ms. Thorne, aren’t you embarrassed? Can you calm down? Whether Heath is in the hospital has nothing to do with you!"
"If Heath is in the hospital, then Aunt Sterling must be there too; she always likes me, so what’s wrong with me asking how they’re doing?"
"I already said Heath’s not here. Stop pestering me!"
Thea was relentless, "Then tell me, what are you doing in the hospital?"
"I damn had food poisoning; I’m here for a stomach wash, okay?" Carter didn’t know how to handle her and blurted out in frustration.
This outburst made Thea understand immediately; she frowned and said, "I knew it, Heath must be here. Otherwise, why would you react so strongly? Even if you were hospitalized for food poisoning, I don’t believe Heath wouldn’t come with you."
Carter was getting exasperated; what he feared most now was Thea finding out Heath was in the hospital; that would mean Heath’s parents would get the news from Thea first; if they came to the hospital, the incident’s origins would be traced.
Heath wouldn’t want Moira Young dragged into this.
"Fine, you won’t tell me, I’ll find out myself!" Thea gave him a look, "There’s definitely something fishy about this!"
"Come back!" Carter was utterly helpless against this miss; he knew Thea’s temper would just do as she said, and Thea liked Heath so much, now having managed to grab him, how could she easily let go?
"Consider it me begging you, okay? Can we talk tomorrow? Is that okay?" Carter’s brain wasn’t working very fast, but now he felt he could stall for a minute; he’d try to discharge Heath tomorrow and then hide.
"Either you take me to see Heath now, or I’ll find him one by one myself. If I find him then, just you wait!"
Carter’s face was in complete ruin today; it had been nothing but bad luck!
Thea saw Carter was unresponsive and blanched, immediately heading to the nurse’s station to inquire; Carter followed her closely until Thea asked through the sixth floor of the inpatient building and suddenly realized, smacking her forehead, "I really am silly; Heath should be in the VIP ward, why am I searching the regular one."
Upon hearing this, Carter became nervous, a cold sweat broke out on his forehead, "Stop searching, I’m telling you, Heath really isn’t here; I’m really here for a stomach wash; why don’t you come with me to wash my stomach."
Thea rolled her eyes again, not caring about Carter’s woes; she must see Heath today.
This time, Thea learned the lesson and directly took the elevator to the VIP ward. Carter clenched his fists and followed closely. Just as Thea reached the door to Heath’s room, Carter felt his heart drop.
However, Thea glanced at it and walked straight past, moving to the next ward and peering inside through the glass.
Carter held his breath, oh my God! Did she not recognize it?
After looking around, Thea shook her head to herself and muttered, "Why don’t they put patients’ names on the door."
"I told you Heath’s not here, you refused to believe me. Now this, you’ve almost looked through all the VIP wards, you should give up now." Carter sighed in partial relief.
"I’m one hundred percent certain Heath is in the hospital, or you wouldn’t keep following me. Carter, everyone knew in high school; your brain isn’t as quick as mine." Thea mocked disdainfully.
Listening to this, Carter instantly got angry, retorting, "Why is it that my brain isn’t as quick as yours? I got into Arden University through connections and money, same as others, who’s different from who?" 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢
"Don’t be silly, I got in on merit." Thea had only a couple of wards left to search and was a bit gloomy; could it be Heath isn’t in the VIP ward?
"Hey hey, you two, who are you looking for? How can you look through rooms one by one? Patients have privacy." The head nurse walked over and looked at Thea impatiently, "Young lady, didn’t anyone in your family teach you better?"
"Who are you talking to? What’s wrong with me?" Thea couldn’t bear to be criticized by others, anger rising, she prepared to leave.
