Chapter 159: Chapter 159: Nemesis

Carter huddled to the side, not daring to utter a word, his back pressed against the wall, trying to find a suitable posture to conceal his nervousness.

"Carter, you tell us," Heath’s dad took a deep look at Heath, then turned his attention to Carter.

Heath immediately winked at Carter with his swollen face.

Carter shivered slightly, stammering, "Un...uncle...well...I really don’t know what exactly happened. He called me, and only then did I find him beaten like this..."

"Carter, thank goodness for you. Otherwise, who knows how badly this kid might have been hurt. Heath has always been worrisome, causing trouble everywhere," Heath’s mom sighed sadly, "After that dead girl broke her leg, I’ve been especially afraid that Heath would get hurt, and now...sigh..."

When Heath’s dad heard Heath’s mom mention the dead girl, it was clearly referring to Moira Young. He was startled. This time Heath got into trouble, could it be related to that woman, Julian Sinclair?

If it were an ordinary fight, Heath’s dad wouldn’t intervene. But now, if it really was connected to that girl, the matter wouldn’t be just a simple incident.

"Which bar were you fighting at?" Heath’s dad’s face was calm, his tone heavy.

Heath grumbled impatiently, "Dad, why are you asking so much? Are you planning to get back at them for me?"

"I’m asking you which bar," Heath’s dad looked angry; this child was getting more and more out of control!

Heath’s mom was startled by Heath’s dad’s sudden anger. Heath’s dad was usually calm, rarely losing his temper over Heath’s matters.

Today, Heath was already hurt like this, why the sudden change? 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

After all, Heath’s dad was Heath’s father. When he acted so fiercely towards Heath, Heath felt a bit uneasy.

Heath’s eyes were a bit evasive; sometimes, he still feared his father, not knowing what to do for a moment.

"Which bar doesn’t matter right now. What’s important is to rest well and recover," Heath’s mom held Heath’s dad’s hand, "Don’t scare the child."

Heath said nothing, pretending to be dead.

"I’m asking you again, which bar were you fighting at?" Heath’s dad didn’t listen to Heath’s mom’s advice, determined to get to the bottom of it today.

Heath still didn’t speak. How could he possibly reveal the name of the bar? If Heath’s dad really investigated, wouldn’t he find out about Moira Young?

Seeing Heath playing dead, Heath’s dad became more convinced there was something suspicious.

"Is it because of that girl?" Heath’s dad suddenly asked directly, waiting earnestly for Heath’s reaction.

Heath’s nerves were tense, he didn’t expect them to guess it was related to Moira Young!

Heath’s mom, shocked, looked at Heath as soon as she heard Heath’s dad mention that girl. Her face turned pale instantly, "Heath, are you still entangled with her?"

"Don’t guess wildly, there’s nothing like that. I told you it was someone provoking me first, and that’s why I acted," Heath defended, but the more he explained, the worse it seemed.

The most critical part was that Thea was there.

"Uncle, Aunt, are you talking about Moira Young?" Thea asked.

"Yes! That dead girl! She’s Heath’s nemesis!" Heath’s mom got a bit agitated whenever Moira Young was mentioned, remembering all those distressing things, causing her heart to ache.

"Aunt, you don’t know, they stick together every day. Recently, Heath and Moira Young even went on a trip to Japan together. You didn’t know about that, did you?" Thea added fuel to the fire, quickly.

"Is there really such a thing?" Heath’s mom, incredulous, looked at Thea, fully astonished, even Heath’s dad frowned.

"What nonsense are you talking, don’t speak if you don’t understand!" Heath, agitated, tried to sit up on the bed, almost managing but he lacked the strength, "Dad, Mom, it’s not like she said. It was Carter and I, along with Morton, who went to Japan. Moira Young just tagged along for fun, it’s not as ambiguous as Thea made it!"

Heath’s dad’s breathing got heavy. He recalled when the company shares were forcibly taken by Julian Sinclair, feeling as if life was gloomier then, hoping Heath would sensibly distance himself from Moira Young. But unexpectedly...unexpectedly, not only did he fail to keep a distance but also traveled together...

Heath’s dad clutched his chest tightly, almost collapsing, but luckily Carter supported him quickly, guiding him to the sofa.

"Dad...are you okay..." Heath worriedly asked. Heath’s dad’s health wasn’t great now, Heath feared something might happen to him.

"You...you...are trying to drive me insane..." Heath’s dad started coughing again, Heath’s mom kept soothing him.

Because Carter and Thea were present, Heath’s dad, no matter how angry or disappointed, couldn’t show it excessively. He tried hard to maintain composure, yet couldn’t suppress physiological discomfort.

Whether Thea had any sense or not, she didn’t stop talking even when Heath’s dad was furious, continuing her remarks, "Moira Young only causes trouble for Heath, bringing calamity. Uncle, Aunt, you really need to manage him well, Heath’s current state must be Moira Young’s doing!"

"Thea, enough already! Leave now!" Heath was truly annoyed, "Can’t you see my dad’s condition, yet you keep babbling!"

Seeing Heath so agitated, Carter knew the situation wasn’t suitable for lingering. He stepped forward, tugging at Thea, "Stop talking."

"Kiki, you and Carter should leave first. We’ll watch over here," Heath’s mom didn’t want Heath’s dad’s loss of composure exposed to outsiders.

"Alright then, Uncle, Aunt, we’ll leave first, and visit Heath again tomorrow," Carter said politely, wishing to leave quickly, knowing Heath’s mind worked faster than his, fearing he’d slip up.

Reluctantly, Thea left with Carter.

The two left together, yet one walked on the far left, and the other on the far right of the corridor, clearly annoyed, neither wanting to engage.

"Drive me," Thea said upon reaching the hospital parking lot.

Carter froze, "Why should I?"

"I kept your secret, didn’t I? Shouldn’t you thank me? Driving me home is a favor for you." Thea, not waiting, got in the car, sitting in the passenger seat as if it were her right.

Carter didn’t want to argue, driving was fine, not saying much more, "Where’s your home?"

"I’m not going home."

"Are you crazy? You asked me to drive you home; now you say you’re not going home, where are you going then?" Carter was frustrated by Thea’s antics, losing patience.

"Drive me to Moira Young’s place," Thea asserted, her chin raised.

Carter’s heart skipped a beat, foot pressing too hard on the accelerator; though late at night, city road cameras captured everything.
