Chapter 160: Chapter 160: Vehicle Impoundment

"Why are you driving so fast! Do you think you’re Heath Sterling!" Thea Thorne looked at him in fear. She trusted Heath’s driving skills, but definitely not Carter Porter’s.

Carter didn’t realize he was speeding. He hadn’t even checked the speedometer, thinking it was only sixty or seventy miles per hour.

Then—

Both of them saw a police car following them in the rearview mirror!

"Dammit! What’s happening!" Carter was confused about the situation, and since he couldn’t control his feet, he suddenly remembered the image of himself killing someone earlier. Terrified of the police, he instinctively pressed the gas pedal to the floor!

"Carter! Are you crazy! It’s two hundred and forty! Have you lost your mind!"

"Ah—!" Thea was on the verge of madness!

Carter finally looked at the speedometer and realized the speed had reached two hundred and forty...

"Wha... what’s going on!" Carter finally realized he’d been targeted by the traffic police, so he hurriedly slowed down and pulled over. The police car surrounded his car tightly...

"Get out of the car!" The traffic police officer got out of his patrol car, pointing at Carter and Thea sternly.

Thea looked at Carter helplessly, almost crying with anger, all thanks to Carter’s foolishness!

After getting out of the car, they both leaned against the car as instructed. The traffic police first did a simple identity check and found they were both students with no criminal record.

But the officer still asked sternly, "Why were you speeding?"

"Officer, I honestly didn’t know I was going that fast..." Carter explained.

"Why did you run when you saw us?"

"I didn’t run. I just didn’t realize my foot was heavy on the pedal. When I noticed the speeding, I stopped immediately."

The officer didn’t believe him. Glancing at Thea, he asked, "Are you trying to impress a girl? You can’t just drag race in the city because you’re driving a sports car?"

"I am not! Officer, I wouldn’t try to impress her!" Carter was evasive, not wanting any association with Thea.

"As if I’d want anything to do with you! How dare you!" Thea shot back, unwilling to back down.

The officer gave them a sidelong glance, "Alright, stop arguing."

The pair finally fell silent.

"You were speeding over fifty percent. Twelve points will be deducted, and the car will be impounded." The officer wrote a ticket, and with a firm attitude, handed it to Carter, "Sign it."

"Huh?" Carter looked at his beloved car in distress, hesitating for a long time before reluctantly signing.

Soon, Carter’s car was towed away, and the police left, leaving only Carter and Thea on the road.

The two glared at each other, especially Thea, who wished she could kill Carter with her eyes.

"What are you looking at! This is all your fault!" Thea complained, frowning.

"Big sister, it’s my car that got towed, not yours. Why are you yelling at me?" Carter didn’t want to argue further and pulled out his phone to call a friend for a ride.

Then he said, "I’ve called a friend to pick me up. Call your friends to pick you up too."

Thea didn’t have any friends who could pick her up at this late hour, but her pride wouldn’t let her admit it. So she decided to hitch a ride with Carter, "You still have to take me to find Moira Young."

"Why bring Moira into this now? What do you want with her?"

"I bet she doesn’t know Heath is injured yet? I want to tell her in person and make sure she stays away from Heath from now on." Thea had never found a way to keep Moira away from Heath, but now that she had the opportunity, she was determined to seize it.

Carter remained silent, having already made up his mind. Once his friend arrived, he’d get in the car and leave, leaving Thea to call a cab on her own.

A while later, Carter’s friend arrived, and with a quick maneuver, Carter got in the car and had his friend lock the doors.

Thea frantically tried to open the door but couldn’t, and immediately got angry, "Carter—!"

Carter rolled down the window, "I called a cab for you. It’ll be here soon. I’m heading home now!"

Thea stomped her foot in anger but had no other choice!

She really wanted to drag Carter out of the car and kick him several dozen times!

The more Carter didn’t want her to find Moira, the more Thea insisted on doing so. She pulled out her phone and looked through her high school classmates group to find Moira’s WeChat.

She had never added Moira as a friend and now sent a friend request, but after waiting a while, there was no response.

Thea thought for a moment and decided to ask old classmates for Moira’s phone number, but after asking around, everyone said Moira had changed her number and no one knew her new one.

She eventually got Moira’s latest phone number from her college class president.

Then triumphantly pressed the dial button.

It took a long while for Moira to pick up, and even after answering, she didn’t say anything.

"Moira, I’m calling to inform you, you caused Heath to be hospitalized twice. Stay away from him in the future." Thea bluntly started the conversation.

There was still silence on the other end of the line, and just when Thea thought the call hadn’t connected, Moira finally spoke.

"Heath... what happened to him?" Her voice was soft and full of concern.

Thea despised Moira’s pitiful demeanor, impatiently said, "He has stitches all over and his face is swollen beyond recognition. If you really have any conscience, stay away from him. You broke his leg before, and now you’ve caused this. Have you no heart?"

On the other end, Moira seemed to choke up, "He... what happened to him...

Isn’t it me who should be asking you what happened? What did he get into a fight for you?"

Moira fell silent, speechless.

Thea didn’t care anymore, as long as Moira stayed away from Heath. She directly hung up the call.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the city—

Moira, trembling, shrank into the corner of her bed, knees folded, arms wrapped around her knees, staring blankly at her phone.

Since she got home, she had been terrified and anxious, feeling that only by staying in the corner could she find a shred of security. Her mind was filled with the image of Glen Guthrie’s terrifying face.

Tears welled up in Moira’s eyes. She was certain it was Thea calling earlier. She wouldn’t forget Thea’s voice and tone.

If what Thea said was true, then...

Heath hadn’t gone back to get something but to fight!

How hadn’t she thought of that!

How... how could this happen...

Suddenly, Moira felt a tightness in her chest as if a huge stone pressed down, making it hard to breathe.

She hurriedly called Carter, assuming he would visit Heath after dropping her home.

"Carter, how... how are you all?" Moira anxiously choked out.

"Huh? We’re fine." Carter pretended not to understand what Moira was talking about.
