Supreme Dragon Lord-Chapter 86 - Sword of Misfortune
Two hours passed quickly. As the stone door of the training room slowly opened, the three people waiting outside all wore solemn expressions.
Elder Lu naturally hoped that Long Chen could prove his words were not an empty boast. Elder Huang, much like Elder Lu, also hoped Long Chen would succeed in refining the 150,000 Superior Spirit Stones. However, the claim was simply too shocking to believe. Only Wang Tong, the Martial Institute Steward, did not wish to see Long Chen succeed at all. After all, if Long Chen succeeded, the only thing awaiting Wang Tong was a dead end.
"He hasn’t broken through?" Elder Lu looked stunned. He sensed the Battle qi emanating from Long Chen’s body was still at the War Maniac Realm First Layer Heaven.
Relief washed over the Martial Institute Steward, Wang Tong, as he subconsciously raised a hand to wipe the cold sweat from his forehead.
"Hehe, I told you so! This kid is all talk and no substance, with no real skill to back it up! Do you two elders believe me now?"
Long Chen didn’t even spare Wang Tong a glance. Instead, he turned to Elder Lu and Elder Huang and clasped his fists.
"I’ve reached the breakthrough bottleneck. To step into the War Maniac Realm Second Heaven, I’ll probably need another 50,000 Superior Spirit Stones," Long Chen reported truthfully. There was nothing to hide; since he had refined all 150,000 Superior Spirit Stones, an explanation was warranted.
"So, you mean to say you succeeded?" Elder Lu was overjoyed.
Elder Huang’s breath caught in his throat. He immediately rushed into the training room to check.
"This is impossible!" The Martial Institute Steward, Wang Tong, also dashed into the training room after him.
Just a few breaths later, however, only Elder Huang emerged.
Seeing this, Elder Lu stroked his beard and chuckled. "I appreciate your trouble, Elder Huang."
"Hehe, I haven’t killed anyone in two years. I suppose I made an exception today because of this boy," Elder Huang said with a genial smile.
Hearing this, Long Chen’s eyes flickered. He roughly understood the two elders’ intentions.
"Long Chen, from now on, you can come here to cultivate anytime. The training room is yours to use," Elder Huang promised.
Long Chen quickly clasped his fists in gratitude. "Thank you for your immense kindness, Elder Huang!"
"There’s no need for such formalities. You possess such incredible innate talent, and your constitution is unfathomably profound. This old man truly cherishes talent." At this point, Elder Huang asked with a meaningful tone, "You refined 150,000 Superior Spirit Stones, yet you still need another 50,000 just to break through a single minor realm. Do you truly not know what kind of constitution you possess?"
Nearby, Elder Lu frowned slightly. That Old Huang is truly a cunning fox. First, he dangles a benefit in front of Long Chen to make him feel grateful, and then he immediately asks the one question he shouldn’t. Considering Long Chen’s age and disposition, wouldn’t he be likely to spill everything out of gratitude?
Although Elder Lu looked down on Elder Huang’s tactics, he was also curious about Long Chen’s constitution, so he didn’t intervene.
However, Long Chen answered without the slightest hesitation. "Reporting to Elder Huang, this disciple truly does not know his own constitution."
WHOOSH!
In an instant, both Elder Huang and Elder Lu were taken aback, each giving Long Chen a long, searching look.
If what Long Chen said was true—that he really didn’t know his own constitution—then that was one thing. But if he did know and could still lie so unhesitatingly, especially after having received a favor, it proved his mental fortitude was incredibly strong. He wouldn’t expose anything just because someone showed him a little kindness. To be so young, yet possess both supreme innate talent and such an impeccable mental state... it was simply terrifying!
"The weapons in the Hundred Arms Room are yours to use, anytime and free of charge." Suddenly, Elder Lu stroked his beard, his gaze fixed on Long Chen. "In fact, I can take you to choose a Superior Heavenly Soldier right now."
Clearly, Elder Lu was testing Long Chen, trying to see if he had chosen the Blackwind Sword on purpose.
"For now, the Blackwind Sword is sufficient. Its toughness is no less than that of a Superior Heavenly Soldier, perhaps even greater. Although a Superior Heavenly Soldier with Curse Marks would surpass the Blackwind Sword in might, at my current Martial Arts Realm, I cannot unleash the power of those marks." Long Chen spoke frankly, then asked, "Elder Lu, may I ask about the origin of this Blackwind Sword?"
It seems he truly doesn’t know the Blackwind Sword’s origins. Elder Lu nodded to himself. Stroking his beard, he began to speak slowly. "It was brought back from the God-Devil Domain, thousands of miles away, by the first Sect Master. The Sect Master’s early demise was related to this sword. Subsequently, several pillar-level experts of our sect also lost their lives because of it. Since then, the few who know its history have called it the Sword of Misfortune. Wary of its ominous reputation, even those who know of it dare not use it."
