My Harem of Dangerous and Crazy Women as a Reincarnated Necromancer-Chapter 64: A Brief Trip to the Middle of Nowhere
A sphere of purple light appeared in the middle of nowhere.
The flash lit up the surrounding trees for a fraction of a second before fading, and from inside that sphere Mark and his subordinates fell to the ground as if someone had spat them out from another dimension.
Mark was the first to open his eyes, and the first thing he saw was sky.
’Are we... alive?’ Mark thought as he slowly turned his head from side to side.
They were in what appeared to be a small clearing surrounded by trees on all sides, and a few meters from where he had landed, a stream crossed the terrain.
Mark slowly sat up and looked around more carefully.
Yuki was on her feet a few steps away, swaying slightly but conscious.
Rose was to his left, on her knees with both hands resting on the grass.
Alice’s companions were scattered across the clearing in various positions.
And Alice was lying on the ground, completely still.
"Rose," Mark said without taking his eyes off the surroundings. "Do you think we were transported far enough?"
"Probably..." Rose replied, her voice exhausted. "The spell was blind, so I have no way of knowing exactly where we are... but the spatial distortion I felt during the teleport was considerable, so we should be far enough away."
Hearing that, Mark let out a sigh and then let himself fall flat on his back against the ground.
"We were lucky to get out in one piece."
But barely had he finished saying that when he turned his head to the right and saw Yuki carefully setting Alice down on the ground.
She had fainted, and noticing that, her companions quickly gathered around Alice, watching her with expressions of concern while Yuki rested her head on the grass.
Then Mark turned his head to the left.
Rose had sat down on the ground with her legs crossed and her eyes closed.
Her breathing was heavy and her face showed an exhaustion Mark hadn’t seen on her before.
The fight and the group teleportation spell had clearly taken their toll.
"Well... almost in one piece."
"What do we do now?" Rose asked directly.
Mark stayed silent for a moment, looking at the sky that was beginning to turn orange.
"I’ll figure that out later..." Mark replied without moving from the ground. "Right now I’m too tired to think straight."
"Tired?" Rose repeated, raising an eyebrow. "But you didn’t fight directly."
"No, but I almost died of stress," Mark replied with complete honesty. "Do you have any idea how exhausting it is to stand in front of a woman who could kill you with a finger while pretending you’re not scared out of your mind? That drains more energy than any fight."
Rose didn’t respond to that, but the corner of her lips curved slightly upward.
"Besides," Mark continued, "I burned a stupid amount of mana reanimating Alice and the other five. So yes, I’m tired. Physically, mentally, and spiritually."
Mark looked back at the sky.
The sun was getting lower and the shadows of the trees stretched across the clearing.
"Besides, there’s not much we can do right now," Mark said. "We’re all weakened. Alice is unconscious, you can barely sit up, Yuki is hurt, and I’m out of mana."
Mark paused, then added.
"Not to mention it’s starting to get dark... we’ll figure out what to do tomorrow with a clear head."
Nobody objected, and the rest of the afternoon passed.
Yuki, despite her wounds, was the one who took the initiative to organize the camp.
Three of the five subordinates, following Yuki’s instructions, gathered dry branches and stones to build a campfire.
Before night fell completely, Yuki decided it was necessary to set up a security perimeter around the camp and headed out with the five women to scout the surroundings.
As for Mark, he was sitting beside Alice with one hand extended over the nun’s chest.
"Come on... how much longer are you planning to sleep?" Mark said to Alice’s unconscious body.
A faint flow of mana left his palm and entered Alice’s body, so weak it was barely visible as a faint glow between his fingers.
He didn’t know if what he was doing was working or even made sense, but it was the only thing he’d thought of.
Suddenly the sound of footsteps on the grass made Mark look up.
Rose walked over slowly and stopped beside him, looking at Alice with a slight frown.
"How is she doing?" Rose asked.
Mark pulled his hand from Alice’s chest and looked at her. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ𝑤𝑒𝑏𝑛𝘰𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝒸𝑜𝘮
The nun was exactly the same as before, with no sign that she’d be waking up anytime soon.
"Honestly, I don’t know," Mark replied. "I had the idea of channeling a little of my mana into her to see if she’d wake up or if her body would heal something, but..."
Mark looked at his own hand, then back at Alice.
"I don’t think it’s working."
Rose knelt beside him and examined Alice for a few seconds.
"Her body is too damaged," Rose said calmly. "Remember she was already at her limit before you reanimated her, and on top of that she used everything she had left in that final punch against the demoness. It’s normal for her body to need time to recover."
Mark didn’t respond, instead staring at Alice’s face with a frustrated expression.
"Master," Rose said in a softer tone than she usually used. "You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself."
Mark looked up at her.
"For now we’re safe," Rose continued. "I don’t know exactly where we are, but I don’t detect any hostile presence in the area and Yuki hasn’t reported anything either."
Rose paused briefly, then looked him directly in the eyes.
"The best thing you can do right now is try to relax a little... you’ve already done more than enough for today."
Mark looked at Rose in silence for a couple of seconds as if he were going to say something, but in the end said nothing.
Because deep down he knew Rose was right — there was nothing more he could do that night.
"Alright..." Mark said, getting to his feet with visible effort.
But before leaving he took one last look at Alice, who still hadn’t moved, then walked with Rose toward the campfire.
