Substitute Wife for the Mafia King R18-Chapter 351: At It Again
**The following morning**
"Diana. Wake up, Diana! Don’t you have somewhere to go today?" I asked as I reached out a hand to tap my sister softly on her shoulder.
Diana didn’t even stir in her sleep at first, but then her eyelids began to flutter. I recalled from the night before that there was a very important interview and photoshoot that she had been looking forward to. It had been a while since she had been officially featured on the front page of a magazine, and she was excited about this opportunity. That being said, I had no idea why she seemed to be sleeping in when she was supposed to be up and about and getting ready.
"Wake up, Diana! You have an interview to go to today and a magazine photoshoot. I also have to get my ass out of the hospital today," I reminded her, in case she had forgotten. Diana wasn’t the most diligent of people, but she was clearly responsible when it came to everything that she cared about, and I knew that she cared about this magazine photoshoot.
"Wake up!" I yelled quite loudly as I began shaking her shoulders in an attempt to wake her up.
Diana made a soft moaning sound in her throat before her eyelids fluttered open. "Dahlia?" she whispered dryly, as if she was still lost in a daze.
"This is no time to be sleeping in! You have a photoshoot to go to, and I need to get my ass out of the hospital today," I repeated once again before pulling on her arms so that she would sit up.
"I’m not feeling so well..." she said as she pressed her eyes closed again. Her hand flew to her forehead, and for a moment, she did look quite tired and sick.
"What’s wrong? Do you have a fever?" I asked as I reached for her forehead. She wasn’t burning hot to the touch, but she did look very disoriented and unwell.
"Should I go call for the doctor?" I quickly offered while I started to worry about my sister.
"There’s no need to. I don’t think I’m really sick, but I feel so tired, my body feels so heavy," Diana began to complain.
"Right. I guess you should get some rest then," I said as I hesitated about what to do. Diana turned to lay down on her belly before burying her face into the pillow. It was clear that getting out of bed was the last thing on her mind.
"Wait. What about the photoshoot today? Are you really going to miss out on it? Should I give them a call that you want to postpone?" I asked her question after question as I stroked her back.
Suddenly, Diana sat up in bed before turning to face me with a very disoriented look on her face as she stared at me. I stared back at her as I wondered what she was about to do. Diana’s eyes widened as if she had just realized that she had a very important appointment that she had been looking forward to on that day.
"The interview for the magazine is today?" she exclaimed with a clear look of panic on her face.
"That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you a couple of times now! Why didn’t you listen?" I asked before rolling my eyes upwards towards the ceiling.
"I feel too sick to go. Also, I feel like my face is too swollen, and my eyes are probably puffy. I cannot have people take photos of me in this condition," Diana said firmly, as if her mind had been made up.
"I guess there’s nothing to be done about that..." I murmured softly in agreement as I wondered when I could finally get my ass out of the hospital. The doctors were supposed to arrive to finalize some last-minute documentation, and then I would be officially discharged and free to leave.
"No. I have to be there. Diana has to appear on the front cover of this magazine no matter what," Diana said with extreme determination in her tone.
"You just told me that you’re sick. There’s no way that you can go in this condition," I said in agreement with her previous statement. I didn’t think that she looked that bad, to be honest, but I wouldn’t go as far as to say that she looked camera-ready either. The makeup team was going to suffer quite a bit to make her presentable in front of the camera and live up to Diana’s standard for making public appearances.
"You’re right, there’s no way that I can go in this condition, but I’m sure that you can," Diana said before offering me a calculating smile. I knew immediately what she had in mind, and that made my entire body freeze just at the thought.
"Oh no, don’t you do this to me. I’m finally going to be discharged from the hospital today, and I am going to enjoy my freedom outside," I said, enunciating each word loud and clear.
"That’s right! You’re supposed to be discharged from the hospital today, so you’re free to go outside. Wouldn’t you say that this is just perfect? You can go out there, take the interview, and the photoshoot all in my place," Diana said, as if that was the perfect solution. Ultimately it was the perfect solution for her but definitely not the perfect outcome for me.
"No. I am not going. If you can’t make it to your own shoot, then just cancel it," I said while I reminded myself that I shouldn’t let my sister talk me into anything.
"Don’t be so mean to me, Leya. You know how much the photoshoot means to me. I really need this to get myself back onto the social scene. Can’t you help me out just this once? My sister began pleading desperately.
I rolled my eyes at her as I tried to steel my heart against her persuading words. "It’s just my bad luck that I ended up getting sick on this day. Can’t you think of all the times that I’ve taken care of you? Please do this to help out your dear sister," my sister continued pleading.
