Chapter 350: Back to Work

I had to say that after he ascended to the throne, Desmond gave off a vibe that made him seem even more mature than before. I stared at his attractive face as I thought to myself that he would indeed make a great king, if only he wanted to be one.

Now if only that king would just keep his words and the promises that he made to me, then all would be perfect.

“What about my father? Is he going to end up being the new president of this country?" I asked directly.

"It’s a surprise," Desmond replied with the response that I dreaded the most.

"I somehow knew that you would say something like that," I muttered darkly to express my disappointment.

"I have to say that your father is actively campaigning for votes now, so you should be glad that your sister is back; otherwise, you’re going to be the one who needs to be out there working for him," Desmond said before letting out a dry laugh.

"I guess I have you to thank," I remarked a little sarcastically.

"I can’t have you joining him because I need you to be by my side. Now that things have settled down a little, it’s time for us to stir things up a little as well," Desmond said with a mischievous sparkle in his eyes.

"I guess I wouldn’t mind doing that if that means that I get to finally go outside again," I admitted honestly.

"Don’t worry so much. I’m going to make sure that you enjoy all the events that I have planned for us," Desmond said, sounding a little too confident for my taste. All the while, Bradon just stood simply to the side without saying anything as he listened to the conversation between Desmond and me.

Since I would be attending events with Desmond while my father was actively trying his best to win over the people of this country to vote for him in the upcoming election, I figured that Bradon would be busy with fulfilling his role as Anthony along with Diana.

"Good luck with all the campaigning. Please just hang in there for a while longer. The election is coming up soon anyways," I turned to say to Bradon because I knew that he would probably hate the idea of helping my father out.

His eyes finally met mine, and I knew that he was paying attention to what I said; however, in the end, Bradon didn’t say anything.

**2 Days Later**

Apart from dealing with my own anxiousness and excitement at my upcoming discharge from the hospital, I had to say that the past two days were uneventful. Diana went out without telling me where she was going, but I figured that she must be busy with helping out our father with his political campaigns. I didn’t ask her much about it because I didn’t want to put her in a bad mood.

"I’m going to be back soon, so please behave yourself while I’m out," my sister said before blowing me a kiss.

"I’m not 7 years old," I retorted playfully as I waved my hand.

There was only one day left before I would regain my freedom to roam the outside world once again. Of course, I was excited and looked forward to when the sun would rise the following morning so that I could be officially discharged from the hospital. I spent the entire day making sure that my journey out of the hospital would be smooth and without any further delay. I talked to all the doctors that had taken care of me to make sure that I had their approval to be discharged and that none of them would raise any last-minute concerns that would stop me from leaving. I also made sure to thank all the nurses who helped take care of me. Lastly, I made sure to carefully pack all of my things so that I would be immediately ready to leave whenever I was allowed to do so.

True to her words, Diana wasn’t gone for very long before she came back. Unlike when she left, it looked like she was in a better mood, and I wondered if something good had happened while she was outside.

"Did something good happen? You look so cheerful," I decided to ask her.

"I just got final confirmation that I’ll be gracing the front page of ‘The Starlight’ magazine. They’ll also interview me and have an entire section devoted to me. Now, isn’t that just hitting the right spot?" Diana replied with a playful flip of her hair. 𝗳𝚛𝚎𝚎𝘄𝕖𝕓𝕟𝕠𝚟𝚎𝕝.𝗰𝕠𝐦

“Wow! Congratulations, although I didn’t think that something like this could mean so much to you...” I pointed out because it clearly wasn’t the first time that Diana would be gracing the front cover.

“Well, I guess I like it because it makes me feel like they are welcoming me back with open arms...although they never knew that I was gone in the very first place,” Diana said before letting out a scoff. I looked at her skeptically before deciding to go with whatever she said while thinking that as long as it put my sister in a good mood, there was nothing wrong with it.

That night, my sister and I slept together in the hospital room for the last time. I was too excited to fall asleep, so I ended up thinking about the last time that I had that intense argument with Diana. Ever since that day, Diana refused to touch on the topic again, and things were left unsettled between us. Sometimes I thought that I was the one to blame for bringing up such a contentious topic when the timing wasn’t right. There were still so many uncertainties that we had to face before everything came to an end. No one knew what the election results would turn out to be like or how Desmond would manage to destroy the power of the noble families. There wasn’t enough detail on how exactly we would end the monarchy rule, and most of all, I had no idea when Anthony would return from wherever he was. Considering all of that, perhaps it was too soon for me to decide what I should do when everything came to an end.
