Chapter 352: Missing Each Other

I struggled internally for a moment, but I knew that there was no way that I could turn her down. Donna looked so sad and also a little stressed. She was right that getting this shoot right was important in returning her to the social scene. Also, it wouldn’t be so great for her to mess up her first magazine shoot after returning to the country. I let out a loud sigh as I closed my eyes when I realized that there was probably no other way out.

“This is because of the weather, isn’t it? Is it that time of the year already? I guess it sucks that your allergies never completely went away. How are you holding up? Do you want to take that medicine that you always take?” I asked before letting out a soft sigh.

I had failed to realize that it was already that time of year when Diana’s weather allergies would start acting up. Being stuck inside, I had failed to realize that the air outside might have gotten heavier and it had been raining on and off for a few days. Suddenly, I felt slightly guilty for not realizing that Diana wasn’t in the best of her condition and that might be because she had been spending almost all of her time in the hospital with me instead of resting comfortably at home. Unfortunately, it seemed like the allergies that she suffered from when she was little never went away completely.

“I’m sorry...” My sister apologized softly.

I didn’t like the mix of sorrow and guilt that became apparent on her beautiful facial features. For a moment, I was at a loss about what to do. Whenever Diana got sick when we were younger, it almost became a norm that I would take her place. The face that she made reminded me of all the times she would apologize to me for being a burden to me whenever she got sick.

I guess there really is no other way...

"Fine, I’ll do it," I said, while thinking that I might end up regretting my decision.

"That’s great! You need to get ready right away. The shoot’s very early in the morning, that way you can be back earlier too. I promise that it won’t take long," Diana said, suddenly sounding so energetic.

"Why is this photoshoot so early in the morning anyways?" I asked.

"Well, I wanted them to shoot some photos of me in the garden and also do the interview in the garden, so I thought that having the natural morning light would help. It might end up raining later in the day according to the forecast...so..." Diana explained smoothly before smiling my way.

She helped me get dressed and ready before practically shoving me out of the room so that I would make my way to the photoshoot in her place.

**An hour later**

I arrived at the location for the photoshoot based on the instructions that I’d received from my sister. The location of the shoot was exactly as Diana had described. The staff greeted me warmly enough, and it was clear that none of them could tell that I wasn’t my sister. That did not surprise me, but the lack of equipment that was present at the site surprised me a little.

"Are we starting with the interview first?" I asked, flashing them a beautiful smile.

"Yes, actually about that," the director in charge said before trailing off hesitantly. That was when I started to pick up that something felt a little wrong.

"Is something the matter?" I asked.

"Well, unfortunately we have to reschedule the main part of the photoshoot. Of course, we’re not canceling it, but just postponing it. We’ll still do the interview today and take a couple of photos as we agreed on in the garden with the natural light," the director explained.

"Oh, is that so?" I said, wondering if Diana was going to be okay with it.

"The photographer that you wanted to work with suddenly called in sick this morning, apparently it seems to be quite serious. I did try to give you a call to inform you about this earlier, but no one picked up," the director said while looking quite uncomfortable.

"Don’t worry about it. Let’s do all that we can today, and then we can just call it a day," I said before flashing a sweet smile.

Honestly, I didn’t mind at all that the interview was going to be short and the photoshoot was going to be even shorter than planned because that meant that I could return to the hospital to check on my sister faster and then work towards my own official discharge from the hospital.

Who would have thought that on the exact same day that I would be discharged from the hospital after waiting for so long, my sister would get sick and need to take a rest in the hospital in my place?

"Make sure that everyone is ready to leave right away after we’ve gotten in the car," I instructed the driver before getting out of the car. I looked around at the cars and the guards that were going to be a part of the efforts to escort us safely back to the mansion while trying to tell myself that nothing should ever happen to Dahlia.

Right at that moment, I was certain that Dahlia was waiting for me anxiously in her hospital room. The day of her discharge from the hospital had finally arrived, and I appreciated her patience up until that point. At first, Desmond was adamant in escorting her back as well, but some last-minute change in plans meant that he couldn’t make it.

I had assured him many times that I could handle taking Dahlia back to my mansion without his interference, but Desmond felt so on edge that he even sent along additional bodyguards. That made the entire entourage much more complex than it had to be. I only prayed that we would not be attracting any unnecessary attention on our way back to the mansion.
