Chapter 330: Two Halves Make a Whole

Maybe she ended up getting it all wrong once again after all...

"Did you manage to find her?" I asked as I sat up straight in bed the moment the door opened.

I knew instinctively that Bradon had finally arrived. After staying up practically all night the night before, I was wide-eyed to greet Bradon, although it was very early in the morning.

"We’ve picked up her trail but we’ve yet to secure your sister," Bradon replied.

I was hit with a sudden wave of disappointment, although I told myself that Bradon wasn’t at fault. It would probably take a little more time in this game of hide and seek. It did surprise me a little that Diana managed to evade Bradon’s search, even if it was only for a night.

"Does this mean that she’s desperately hiding from me?" I asked before finding myself frowning while trying to figure out Diana’s intentions. I honestly did not think that she would take her teasing so far just to get back at me because I was sure that Diana wanted to see me as well.

"More like someone is trying to hide her," Bradon replied.

"Do you mean Desmond? You think Desmond is trying to hide her?" I asked while stating my suspicion.

"That would be my best guess," Bradon said.

I guessed that would perfectly explain why Bradon and his men haven’t found her yet. Just when I was about to launch a couple of complaints regarding Desmond’s unreasonable actions, there were a few knocks on the door. Bradon and I immediately stared at each other, and I could tell that he was thinking exactly the same thing as I was. With perfect timing, the hospital room door opened and Desmond slowly made his entrance. The sly smile that he had on his face told me that he was indeed hiding something from me.

"Good morning. I hope that I’m not visiting too early," Desmond said in greeting as he came to stand right next to my hospital bed.

"It’s nice for you to pay me a visit, Your Majesty" I replied a little sarcastically white trying my best to smile at him.

I couldn’t stop myself from glancing towards the door while half expecting to see Diana walk in right after Desmond. Unfortunately, nothing of the sort happened, and I found myself feeling slightly disappointed.

"How have you been? I take it that you’re feeling completely better now," Desmond asked as he leaned forward to bring his face closer to mine. I could see his gray eyes inspecting my face before he showed me another sweet smile.

"I’m fine. Did you come here today to deliver my present to me?" I asked without beating around the bush, referring to the present that he had promised me.

"I guess you still remember about that," Desmond replied casually.

I tried my best to smile, but I had to admit that his attitude was starting to irritate me a little because I hated the suspense of waiting.

"How could I ever forget? You know that I always look forward to receiving presents from you," I replied, staring directly back into his beautiful gray eyes.

"I guess there’s no point in delaying it any further then. After all, I can’t have the present that I prepared for you getting stolen on the way," Desmond said before he turned to smile innocently at Bradon.

Desmond’s words were proof enough that he had been keeping Diana away from all of our efforts to find her.

"I’m very excited to see my present," I said with a smile to layer on some more pressure.

Is Diana here in the hospital right now?

"Don’t look at me like that. I just want to make sure that I get to deliver the present that I had prepared for you myself," Desmond said before smiling sweetly my way. I smiled back in return without saying a word while thinking that this was exactly something that Desmond would do.

I watched as my heart raced rapidly in my chest as Desmond walked towards the door and opened it. For a moment, he disappeared out into the hallway before he made his swift return. Desmond was the first one to reenter the hospital room, but this time he wasn’t alone.

"Diana," I said in a breathless whisper when my sister gracefully walked into the room as if making her entrance at a ball.

For a moment, I couldn’t wrap my mind around the fact that she was really here, and I found it difficult to believe that my sister was standing in the same room that I was in. Everything around me seemed to fade away for a moment, and it felt like we were the only two people in our small, private little world where our catch-up was long past overdue.

When it finally hit me that this was really happening and that my sister was truly in front of me, my body moved as if it had a will of its own. I got off the bed and practically ran towards my sister, straight into her arms. I hugged her so tightly as if I was afraid that she would disappear into thin air and that everything that I was seeing was just a fragment of my own imagination. The moment that I felt her body and her familiar perfume in my arms, I closed my eyes and let out a long sigh of relief before wrapping my arms even tighter around her body.

"Dina," I called her name in a soft whimper as I refused to let her go.

Diana hugged me back just as tightly. I had no idea how long we spent locked up in each other’s embrace, but it must have been a while. I was so absorbed in finding comfort in my sister’s physical presence that it took me a while to realize that the other two men were standing there in the room just looking at us.

"I miss you so much," I confessed straightforwardly.
