Hogwarts: I Am an Exemplary Wizard-Chapter 607 - 605: The Late Weasleys
The next day.
King’s Cross Station was as bustling as ever, but today there was a group of special passengers, dressed in rather eccentric outfits, hurrying between the platforms.
What was even more noticeable was that on their luggage carts there was always a large birdcage with various kinds of owls inside.
Some new guards curiously observed them, but more experienced guards displayed a nonchalant expression.
It’s like this every year, probably some place holding an owl festival, they were used to it.
At Platform 9¾, a red steam train was stationed nearby, surrounded by parents dropping off their children, creating a lively atmosphere.
"Thank you for bringing me here, Dobby," Kael said to the house-elf beside him.
Because it’s the start of the school year today, Kael initially planned to take the Knight Bus, but Dobby offered to bring him.
The advantage of this was that he didn’t need to go through the station, he could come directly to the platform, which was quite convenient.
"Dobby is happy to help Mr. Kael," the elf said happily.
"Harry hasn’t arrived yet, do you want to wait a while?" Kael looked at the time, "Probably just a few minutes."
Dobby was tempted, but after a moment of hesitation, he shook his head.
"No, Dobby has a lot of work today, and the Invisible Beast needs looking after," the elf said, "Could Mr. Kael give Harry Potter a greeting from Dobby?"
"Of course, no problem."
Hearing the affirmative reply, the elf happily bowed and then disappeared from sight.
"Kael!"
Conna came over carrying a suitcase from a distance, "When did you arrive? I didn’t see you come in through the station entrance."
"A house-elf brought me here," Kael said. "By Disillusionment."
"That’s convenient," Conna said.
Soon, Cedric and Cho also arrived.
The Weasleys had not yet come, so the group decided to go onto the train to find a seat first.
As it was almost departure time, they walked from the front to the rear of the train until finally finding an empty compartment.
"How was your holiday?" Cho put her luggage on the rack, looking a bit frustrated, "I stayed at home for two months. My mom said we were going to travel to Sydney, but it got canceled due to work issues."
"I went to Hampshire. My grandfather is there," Cedric said. "My dad said the times are uneasy lately, so he made me go there, and only brought me back yesterday afternoon."
"Oh, right, Kael." He turned his head, "I heard you received a Ministry of Magic warning letter, what’s that about?"
"You got a warning letter?" Conna asked, a little nervously.
"How did you know?" Kael asked, "It shouldn’t have been reported in the newspaper."
"My dad told me," Cedric said. "Yesterday I got him drunk and found out a lot about what’s going on at the Ministry of Magic."
"..."
Alright, truly Mr. Digory’s good son.
"It’s nothing," Kael said helplessly, glancing at Cedric, then shaking his head, "It’s all been resolved, just a misunderstanding."
"I guess it must be related to You-Know-Who," Conna said, "I’ve read the Daily Prophet, it says Dumbledore’s a madman every day, clearly the Ministry doesn’t want to admit You-Know-Who has returned. You must have been dragged into it because of this."
"Exactly," Kael said, "but fortunately, it’s been resolved."
A loud whistle blew in the air.
"The train’s about to leave." Cedric opened the window, poking his head out for a look, "Strange, where are Fred and George? Kael, didn’t you come with them?"
Kael shook his head. "No, I came alone."
He found it a bit odd too; knowing Mrs. Weasley’s character, they shouldn’t be this late.
A few minutes later, another loud whistle sounded, and the train gradually began to move.
"Looks like they’re really late," Cho couldn’t help but frown.
"No, there they are!"
Kael instinctively looked outside, just as the train was about to leave the station, Fred and George finally appeared.
They Disillusionment-ed onto the train car at the last moment.
"Phew... made it," Fred said, leaning against the compartment door, panting heavily.
"What’s going on?" Kael handed him a bottle of pumpkin juice, "Where’s Harry, why did only you two make it?"
"Moody was attacked," Fred said after taking a big gulp of pumpkin juice, "just this morning, Death Eaters broke into his house."
"How’s Professor Moody?" Cedric asked.
"Injured, but fortunately nothing major," George said, "Stodgy happened to visit him at the time and saw the Killing Curse fly right over his head."
"That was close, wasn’t it?" Fred said, "Moody nearly got killed."
"Not so easy," Cho said, "Don’t forget Professor Moody is the most famous Auror, Death Eaters can’t kill him that easily."
"Maybe," George said. "Then everyone thought the Death Eaters might be lying in wait near King’s Cross Station, planning to attack Harry, so we were extra careful on the way."
"But no one kept track of time..."
"By the time we got to King’s Cross Station, we were already late."
"George and I ran the fastest," Fred said, "but Harry had too much luggage."
Saying this, he poked his head out the window for another look.
But by this time, the train had traveled a great distance, and the platform was long out of sight.
"Oh no, I wonder how Ginny will get to school."
"Too bad we can’t take people with us using Disillusionment."
"Don’t worry," Kael said, "there are adults there, they’ll definitely find a way to send Ginny to Hogwarts."
"True," George sat down next to Cedric, "Mom wouldn’t let Ginny and Ron be late."
"I’m just curious about how they’ll do it," Fred said, sitting beside him, "Wait a minute, George, do you think Sirius’s new car can fly?"
They both froze at the same time.
"If that’s the case..." George said dryly, "I won’t be able to sleep tonight."
"Me neither."
"That’s easy, why don’t you just ask when you get to school?" Cedric said, "But don’t you think it’s odd, why would the Death Eaters suddenly attack Professor Moody?"
"Maybe they wanted to find out Harry’s whereabouts from him," George sighed, "Everyone knows You-Know-Who has always wanted to get rid of Harry."
"But we can’t figure out why it had to be Professor Moody," Fred said, "He’s obviously a tough nut to crack."
"Do you think... it might have something to do with the Defence Against the Dark Arts curse," Cho said hesitantly, "It’s strange, isn’t it? The two professors from last school year were all fine, which has never happened before."
Hearing Cho say this, everyone realized it might actually be a possibility.
Indeed, in the past few decades, every Defence Against the Dark Arts professor could only teach for one year, except Moody and Sirius who made it through to the end of the school year, leaving Hogwarts with everyone else when the holiday began.
At first, everyone thought it was because there were two professors, sharing the curse, yet just the day before the new school term, Moody was suddenly attacked.
If there’s really no connection between these events, it would be too much of a coincidence.
