Substitute Wife for the Mafia King R18-Chapter 132: An Old Friend
As if one ring wasn’t enough, he was going on about buying me one every month. My mouth dropped open when I realized that he made it sound like we would be together for many months to come. I didn’t know what to think or how to feel about that, but before I could voice my concerns, Bradon lifted my left hand and brought it to his lips and kissed the back of it.
All at once, I forgot what it was that I was about to complain about. I also lost track of all my thoughts as I stared with widened eyes at the very attractive blond man with playful sparkling blue eyes that had just kissed the back of my hand with his tender and warm lips. He looked like a prince, and I wished that his looks didn’t come with such a rotten personality and menacing attitude.
“Why don’t you post a picture of this ring on social media so the world can see it?” he suggested before smiling charmingly my way.
Oh...
I knew that I had to be right that he was only buying this diamond ring for me just to make our relationship look more realistic. He also had a valid point that everyone would go crazy if I posted such an amazing diamond ring on Diana’s social media account. I didn’t even want to think how many million dollars the ring costed him. It was a heavy price to pay for something that was supposed to serve as just a prop in our play-pretend relationship. I had no idea why I felt so confused about this gift of his when it should have been obvious what he had purchased it for.
“Good thinking. Now I see what you’ve had in mind all along,” I said with a few approving nods of my head.
...
“Oh, wow! That is a very gorgeous ring that you have on your finger...” Jenna said as her eyes widened.
The other two maids that were with her did not hide their amazement either as the large shining stone on my ring finger caught their attention. I should have known that I would be getting this kind of attention but that didn’t mean that I was used to it. Regretfully, Bradon kept his ring on, so that meant that I had to keep mine on as well. I cursed my stubbornness and my unwillingness to lose to him silently in my mind before forcing a smile to my lips.
“Wow! Just look at how it sparkles...” one of the maids said to Jenna as her eyes widened even further.
I lifted my hand up next to my face and wriggled my fingers as I pretended to look proud and overjoyed to show them the new diamond ring that Bradon had gifted me. Their excited reaction did entertain me a little.
Now, if only Bradon’s ring was as eye-catching as mine...
“Master Bradon surely is a generous man, and he has clearly taken a liking to you, My Lady...” Jenna said before clapping her hand together. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
She looked like a very proud mother who had just witnessed her son’s graduation or something along those lines. I was tempted once again to tell her that she had gotten it all wrong and that she was nothing more than another victim of Bradon’s schemes.
“Well, I did try to tell him that the diamond is a little too big...” I said before smiling a little.
“Oh, not at all. It suits you perfectly,” Jenna quickly dismissed my concerns.
I was certain that all of Diana’s fans were having the same reaction as Jenna and the maids right at that moment. Just as we agreed, I posted a photo of the new mega diamond ring that I now had on my ring finger. It wasn’t just a normal photo of the ring, but I had intelligently taken the phone while Bradon was holding my hand. I had to say that the photo looked very romantic while the large rock only made it all the more impressive. A mischievous little smirk came to my lips when I thought of the caption that I had chosen for the photo.
‘A ring for every month...he says...’
“Did Master Bradon mention to you that you’re supposed to attend a party with him in a few days?” Jenna inquired with a pleased smile.
“No, it must have slipped his mind,” I replied.
As if something like that could slip his mind. After spending time together almost all morning, I couldn’t believe that he never mentioned something so important to me. It wasn’t just a regular party, but it was the first official party that Diana and Anthony were going to attend together as a married couple. All eyes would be on us, and I didn’t want to think of what would happen if we were to make the slightest mistake. I sucked in a breath and closed my eyes before slowly letting it out.
There will be no such mistake...
“Here are the details of the party. The time, date, and also the venue. Apparently, the daughter of the host of the party is an old friend of yours,” Jenna informed me as she handed me an envelope.
I took the envelope from her and began opening it to see the invitation card that was inside. Just hearing someone refer to Diana’s friend made a tight knot form in the base of my stomach. I wonder which friend of hers was inviting her to a party and for what purpose. My eyes narrowed slightly at the host’s last name.
“Oh, this friend. I guess it’s been too long since we last really saw each other...” I said as I kept on staring at the invitation card in my hand.
Does Bradon know about this?
I guess not and there was no reason for me to tell him anything.
“That’s great. You can see your old friend. I was informed that you two went to school together,” Jenna said with a joyous smile.
“Yes, we did...” I replied simply.
This party is going to be fun in more ways than one...
