STRIKER: Independent Beast Tamer-Chapter 793: Part 2: Terror in the city
5th Zone, Wilderness
Boom!
The black spear struck hard and tore through the beast’s body. The massive, 100ft Sky Crocodile roared.
Blue lightning spiraled out of control. It released a wave-like burst of electricity once again.
More than thousands of lightning bolts spread across the city. This time, the range was greater. 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
Most of them struck the entangled, thorny vines. The rest of the lightning bolts shot outward and struck the city wall.
The beast tamers patrolling the wall were annihilated by the lightning’s power.
The bolts didn’t stop there; they reached the frontline and caused massive damage to the Beast Tamers. A few of the elders, supervisors, and tamers were killed instantly.
Seeing that, the faces of the remaining Beast Tamers filled with rage. The Beast Taming Association Head and the Central University Head saw the destruction as well.
Roar!
The Tier-9 Sky Crocodile had been injured by the sneak attack. It wanted to destroy the city and its attackers but before the blue lightning went out of control and struck the city again.
Boom!
Multiple black spears appeared in the sky above the Sky Crocodile. They appeared in an instant. The vast majority of the population was clueless, but the Tier-8 Beast Tamers saw the situation.
Boom!
Like falling raindrops, the black spears landed on the body of the 100ft Sky Crocodile. Each spear penetrated the beast’s flesh. In a flash, its body was riddled with holes.
The Sky Crocodile roared in pain. Blood seeped from the wounds. This all happened within seconds. The vitality of the beast was reaching its end, and its massive body began to lose balance.
If it fell, its massive weight would squash the whole area. The entire city would be gone.
Swoosh!
A second later, something descended from above the clouds.
Two massive claws entered the black clouds and caught the beast’s body. In a flash, the unknown entity captured the Tier-9 beast and carried it away from the city.
In the blink of an eye, the black clouds vanished and the sky cleared. Everyone saw that the beast attacking them was gone.
The Beast Taming Association Head and the Central University Head realized that something had taken the beast away.
The black spear attack from earlier had been executed by someone powerful.
The Beast Taming Association Head retracted the thorny vines. He took his lifeline beast back into the mental zone. Then, everything became clear, and a full view of the city was revealed.
Swoosh!
Just then, the two Heads saw two figures leaving the city through the sky. Both Heads stood a distance apart and looked into each other’s eyes.
They could tell that help had arrived. Only the Lords from the Human Alliance could do that.
The two Lords were Tier-9 Beast Tamers. They could handle a Tier-9 Sky Crocodile.
Normally, the fight would have been tough, but the Sky Crocodile had been caught off guard. Otherwise, the beast wouldn’t have been injured so quickly.
They sighed in relief and turned toward the city. The infrastructure was damaged. Smoke and flames were everywhere. They knew what to do next, so they left the area and began to quell the fires.
However, they could tell that the damage was already done. There was destruction everywhere, and the casualties were still unknown.
...
Frontline
The sounds of cries and agony filled the air. Blood-stained body parts were scattered everywhere.
The lightning bolts were not ordinary; they were attacks from a Tier-9 Sky Crocodile.
The strikes had not only killed the Beast Tamers in an instant but had overturned the land itself. Some of the Red Moon Chamber members had died.
The casualties among the Beast Taming Families were high as well. Catherine Rosewood survived, but her family’s Beast Tamers had died. She had been protected by them until the end.
She was supposed to be hit by a lightning bolt, but at the last moment, someone pushed her away and faced the attack instead.
She didn’t know what had happened to her family, and then she thought of one more person: Jeremy Night.
...
Right then, Jeremy recovered his thoughts and darted toward the frontline. He reached the spot and saw the destruction.
The damage was even more visible now. His eyes flashed with seriousness as he saw smoke and flames covering the city.
Jeremy’s arrival wasn’t noticed by the people because of the chaos. They didn’t have time to look at him.
He couldn’t believe his own eyes. He saw a gory scene; the ground was dyed with blood and mutilated body parts were everywhere. He saw some beast tamers who were missing arms and legs.
It was the first time he had seen such a scene. He quickly found a spot and sat down. He didn’t know what had happened during his absence, so he listened to the conversations around him silently.
At first, his face was calm, but as he learned about the attack on the city, his eyes filled with fear.
This was the second time a corrupted beast had attacked a city where he was staying. Previously, it had been a single spider web attack from a Colossal Beast.
Now, it was a Tier-9 beast attack. It was nowhere near the level of the Colossal Beast, yet this creature had the ability to fly. It had been able to defeat everyone and target the city.
He then learned that something had carried the massive beast away.
"It appears help has come. It must be the Tier-9 Lord who helped and saved the city from the beast," Jeremy thought.
As he looked around, he felt the damage was already done. He felt the higher-ups were not serious enough about the safety of the people.
Tier-8 Beast Tamers were not enough. The city needed at least a single Tier-9 Beast Tamer present at all times.
In that way, a Tier-9 Beast Tamer could drive away Tier-9 beasts and protect everyone. He knows he was not the only one with same idea. Others might have thought about it.
