Chapter 783: Part 5: Beast Invasion (5th Zone)

5th Zone, Wilderness

Governor Martin and Orion were fighting against the Tier-8 Corrupted Beasts.

Hiss!

A Black Anaconda was troubling them the most. It was taking two of their lifeline beasts just to keep the giant snake at bay.

The beast’s head was at least 100 feet above the ground, and its size was over 10 meters. It was a massive head.

If any one of them were hit by the beast, their condition would become critical.

They had to stop the Black Anaconda at all costs.

"I didn’t expect this snake beast to appear out of the unexplored area," Martin said in a serious tone.

"What’s taking them so long?" Orion asked.

"Leon might be giving them warnings," Martin said with a chuckle.

Boom!

The Black Anaconda tried to hit them with its tail. Both of them avoided the attack.

The tail slammed into the ground, and in the blink of an eye, the hard earth cracked and extended further. The impact caused a huge pit in the ground.

Martin and Orion were tense. They didn’t want their lifeline beasts to take unnecessary risks. The body of the Black Anaconda was undoubtedly tougher.

Kee-Kee!

The next second, a giant bird-type beast appeared in the sky.

The monstrous bird looked small in front of the Black Anaconda, which showed just how dangerous the snake truly was.

Martin and Orion looked toward the bird.

Swoosh!

The bird quickly dived down and attacked the corrupted snake beast with its claws. A middle-aged man appeared near them.

Martin and Orion looked at each other, understanding that backup had finally arrived.

They felt relieved. In the blink of an eye, more and more people rushed forward, engaging the Tier-8 Corrupted Beasts directly.

Boom!

The ground shook. The force of the impact overturned the land once again.

Martin and Orion retreated mid-air, calling their lifeline beasts back into their mental zones.

There were three Tier-8 Corrupted Beasts being held back by the two City Governors; one of them was the Black Anaconda.

The other Tier-8 beast team moved to attack the remaining corrupted beasts.

Head Harold was there as well. Unlike the others, he didn’t engage in the battle immediately. He observed the surroundings first.

He saw that the ground was completely littered with corpses, most of them Tier-6 and Tier-7.

Only a few Tier-8 beasts had been killed recently. He understood why they had been called here: the number of Tier-8 beasts had increased.

"This is not good," he thought.

Tier-8 beasts are intelligent. For this many to appear in such a short period of time, Harold suspected they were being forced out of their territory.

Tier-8 Corrupted Beasts were afraid of Tier-9 beasts; only an overlord could make them flee like this. However, it was rare to come across even one Tier-9 beast.

Apart from the three Tier-8 beasts here, he could feel another wave of attacks coming. He knew anything was possible inside the unexplored area.

He collected his thoughts and began to face the corrupted beasts.

Robert Hill was on the other side. He paid close attention to the task at hand, not daring to do anything reckless in front of the two Governors.

Governors Martin and Orion looked ahead. They could see another beast wave approaching.

"What’s going on there?"

"Should we go deeper inside? It could be a Tier-9 beast," Orion said.

Martin shook his head. He had considered the idea, but it felt too risky and unnecessary.

"Tier-9 overlords have tempers. Our appearance could trigger their anger. Who knows? It might decide to attack us the moment it sees us," Martin replied.

Gulp! Orion swallowed hard.

"Let’s take turns to kill as many Tier-8 Corrupted Beasts as possible. We cannot let them get near the city."

"Even one of them could easily bring down the city," Martin added.

Orion agreed. Right now, they had to eliminate the beasts before them.

....

Frontline

Jeremy Night noticed the edge of his katana blade. The power of the starlight thread was gone; it had been used up completely.

He didn’t know how many threads he had used already, but the starlight power inside his mental zone was half consumed.

Only the other half remained. If the beast tide continued for another couple of hours, he would have to fight without starlight power. 𝕗𝐫𝚎𝗲𝘄𝐞𝕓𝐧𝕠𝘃𝕖𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝚖

Jeremy had an idea. He put away his katana and decided to use Star Fist.

The Beast Tamers nearby were stunned. They didn’t know what he was up to.

Catherine Rosewood watched him from time to time; seeing him sheath his blade, she assumed he was going to summon his lifeline beast. Not only her, but others wondered what his beast could be.

Supervisor Jersey noticed this as well. He had been impressed with the young Beast Tamer’s battle talent earlier and wondered what he would do next.

Boom!

The next beast wave arrived. Hundreds of lower-tier corrupted beasts made an appearance. Everyone shifted their attention to the battlefield.

Jeremy Night’s eyes flickered. He began the Star Fist move, controlling the starlight thread and circulating it.

He could feel his body tempering once again. The starlight thread flowed through a specific path until it reached his right hand.

He felt a surge of strength in his forearms. He clenched his right fist, feeling the power hidden beneath the flesh.

Swoosh!

He had already spotted his target: a rhino among the other four-legged beasts. The rhino beast was known for its thick defense. He wanted to test his fist against it.

Before he could reach it, a four-legged hybrid dog beast launched a sneak attack. However, his eyes caught the movement.

He side-stepped, easily avoiding the beast’s jaws, and his right fist snapped out suddenly.

Boom!

His fist collided with the side of the beast’s body. The hybrid dog felt a moment of terror, but it was already too late.

Jeremy’s fist penetrated the body and crushed the internal organs. A second later, the body was blasted apart by the Starlight power.

Puchak!

Blood and mixed organs splattered across the ground.
