Life Simulation: My Talent Is Wool-Chapter 43: In the Sway of the Net
One week later...
Near a lake, Luan and Catharina were camping.
At first, they thought the days would be difficult living outside, but reality proved to be quite different from what they imagined.
They forgot a very important detail... Now they were Lv2.
Even without the ’animal repellent’, just because of the aura, so to speak, animals instinctively avoided approaching them.
One should not underestimate an animal’s instincts.
Especially those that were more sensitive.
Even during the journey, few dared to approach them.
There was even a scene that made Luan smile when he recalled it.
It was one where Catharina asked with an innocent expression: "Are we emitting some kind of dangerous aura or something like that?"
But, thinking about it, besides being Lv2, they also hunted several monsters in the dungeon. Because of that, were they emitting a dangerous vibration or something like that?
He clearly saw fear and caution even in predators like lions and tigers when he went hunting.
That made him curious.
’I should have read about this...’
Not that it was too late.
He bought several books, maybe among the books he bought there would be information related to this.
"Do you want hot chocolate?" Catharina offered.
"Yes, thank you." He agreed.
"Don’t mention it." She filled a thermos cup and handed it to him: "Here you go."
Accepting it, after blowing on it and taking a big gulp, he sighed: "I must say, although it’s a shame we lost our house in the city, living like this isn’t bad at all."
With a beautiful smile, she nodded: "I agree. I really like this."
She was sincere. Not driven by guilt or anything like that.
In the first days, she really showed guilt, but she detached herself from it when Luan held her by the shoulders, and said: "It was my choice to leave with you, to me, you are more important than living in a good house in the city, understand?"
Saying that she was deeply moved barely began to describe what she really felt.
The feeling of being appreciated, adored by the one she liked and loved was hard to put into mere words.
As a sizzling sound of something frying echoed, a chilling cold breeze blew.
But, Luan and Catharina didn’t need to worry about the cold.
Not only were they being warmed by the campfire, but they were also well warmed with clothes made of wool.
Traveling with a wagon was convenient. Unlike the first time they left, they didn’t lack absolutely anything.
Even taking a good bath, which before was a luxury, had now become possible thanks to the large barrel.
Water was not hard to find. Luan had a map where locations of lakes etc. were described.
This place they were at, for example, was not something they found by chance, it was precisely a place marked on the map.
"How about we stay here for a few days?" Luan proposed: "With this lake nearby, we have also already confirmed that there are no Lv3 animals around, it’s a good place to stay, what do you think?"
’Sounds great~!" She sang happily.
"Really? Then we’ll do that!" She smiled.
While talking with her, he had a brilliant idea.
Before, he wasn’t very capable of creating things with his wool, nor was it very strong and resistant, but now?
Smiling softly, he wove a hammock.
But, before finishing, he went to the grove and cut a green bamboo, very resistant.
Cutting two pieces into equal sizes of 1.5 m, he made holes to pass 3 mm wool threads through.
The threads connected at the end which formed into a ring shape.
"What is that?" Unable to contain her curiosity anymore, when she saw the project he created finished, Catharina pointed, curious.
Smiling mysteriously, he replied: "Just a moment and you’ll know."
That said, he quickly fastened each ring end with wool threads to two trees, soon the hammock was perfectly suspended in the air, swaying gently in the breeze that was blowing.
"That..." Upon seeing the final result, Catharina was left speechless.
After seeing this, even without Luan saying what it was, she already understood.
"Come, lie down with me~!" He invited her.
Turning the meat in the frying pan first, she took two pillows from inside the tent and, without hesitation, went to him, handing one pillow to him, placing hers by his side, and lay down with him in the hammock.
"How is it?" He turned to her with a playful smile.
The sensation was even stranger than floating in water.
"Ohh, ohh..." At first, she let out some strangely cute sounds with her heart racing.
It was strange, even knowing she wouldn’t fall, still, this sensation of being suspended in the air, swaying gently, somehow made her heart race, but strangely she felt an indescribable happiness with it.
"It’s... Very good." She finally let it slip.
Looking into each other’s eyes, Catharina blushed a little, lowering her head slightly, almost hiding her face in her ample chest.
She didn’t understand why she felt so shy now, even though, almost every night they slept in the same bed. Even in the tent, they shared what Luan called a double futon.
"I-I need to go check the meat!" She jumped up.
"Haha!" Finding that funny, Luan laughed heartily.
He saw the tips of her ears turn red when she heard his laughter.
’I think it’s time for us to take the next step...’ He thought about something he had bought before they left the city.
He had been waiting for the right moment to give that, and it seemed he couldn’t delay it for much longer.
Besides thinking that the place they were in was excellent, the main reason was perhaps what he wanted to do in that place.
...
After eating until they were stuffed with Lv2 buffalo meat, Luan and Catharina lay down in the hammock.
Catharina’s initial shyness had diminished quite a bit now, lying beside him with her head on his arm, almost on his chest.
That peace and tranquility had no price.
The swaying of the hammock made a wave of drowsiness fall over them.
They didn’t need to worry about possible ambushes, the area around them was surrounded by wool threads. If something or someone strong enough to break one of the threads appeared, Luan would notice.
...
Lying in the hammock proved to be very good.
When Catharina opened her eyes, it was already night.
She rubbed her eyes gently, and when she noticed the sleeping face beside her, an involuntary smile escaped her lips.
’What are you doing?!’ She scolded herself when she saw that her hand was almost touching Luan’s sleeping face.
But, no matter how much she scolded herself, she wasn’t able to bring her hand back.
Her porcelain hand trembled a little, and when her slender fingers touched his cheeks with the tips of her fingers, she shivered.
’Don’t wake up, don’t wake up...’ She pleaded in her mind, enjoying touching his cheeks with her fingers.
"Fufu~~"
She let out a soft little laugh, finding this very amusing.
...
Meanwhile, Luan felt helpless.
He was awakened from his sleep the moment he felt Catharina’s fingers on his face.
As he was curious about what she intended to do, he pretended to be asleep. Upon realizing that she was actually poking his cheeks, even letting out a warm little laugh... He was both surprised and delighted.
’I bet she has a very interesting expression right now, right?’
He wanted to see, but at the same time, he wanted to continue like this for a little longer...
He knew that if she realized he was awake, or even if he pretended to wake up, being caught in the act, shyness would consume her. Although seeing her blushing shyly would be interesting... He wanted to preserve her dignity.
’This silly girl... If I just keep pretending to be asleep, how much longer does she intend to play with my face?’ He smiled inwardly.
After almost 30 minutes having a lot of fun, Catharina let out a sigh of satisfaction.
She hesitated a bit, but ended up getting out of the hammock while murmuring softly: "Luan might wake up at any moment. I’ll prepare dinner in the meantime..."
Luan continued pretending for another 40 minutes when the smell of frying meat lingered in the air, he pretended to wake up from the smell.
"What a delicious smell~" His voice echoed.
Unaware of his pretense, Catharina looked in his direction, saying: "You woke up! Wash your face and hands, dinner is almost ready."
"Uh-huh." He nodded.
While washing his face and hands, he couldn’t help but laugh softly as he recalled how Catharina’s cheeks were red.
And, no matter how much she tried to hide it with a cold expression, she wasn’t able to conceal it from him.
After finishing washing his hands and face, he returned.
"Here, for you." Catharina handed him a deep clay plate with shiny rice and two generous pieces of juicy steak.
"Thank you." He accepted.
She nodded in silence.
It wasn’t a very elaborate meal, but it was good enough.
Moments like this truly filled him with happiness.
He wasn’t the only one, Catharina’s eyes were shining more than usual.
Even eating in silence, there was a happy synergy around them.
