Star Gate-Chapter 1438: Slaying a Chaos Beast (I)

“Relative time?” Li Hao murmured to himself. He didn’t mind the chaos tribulation, despite it being stronger than the one they’d encountered last time. That one had nearly obliterated three faux exalted emperors.

Those hadn’t been true exalted emperors because they’d been confined to Silver Moon.

While the tribulation was stronger this time, it didn’t pose much of a bigger threat to Li Hao. That would depend more on what came after.

Kaboom!

Thunder and lightning descended, rushing straight for the young man. A humanoid figure seemed ready to annihilate Li Hao where he stood. This was just the first thunderbolt, but even Celestial Pole paled with horror!

He stood behind Li Hao, but he could fully perceive how strong it was. When it came to the last tribulation, Celestial Pole felt that he could survive seven to eight bolts from it. The tenth would’ve exceeded the limits of his capabilities.

But now, just the first bolt alone made him fear for his life! Was this chaos tribulation aimed at Li Hao or the entire world?

Li Hao was just a half step emperor, but the first thunderbolt could already destroy half step emperors. One had to keep in mind that Li Hao was a ninth level Fused Dao of two daos. He was a bonafide peak half step emperor!

And yet, this thunderbolt seemed to rival the young man.

Boom!

The humanoid of lightning sizzled down, seeming to wield a sword and bringing it down on only Li Hao. It ignored the world.

Meanwhile, Silver Moon was expanding rapidly and devouring the chaos. It hadn’t been that big moments before, but was growing at a fast clip now.

The two dao universes began circling around the world, Silver Moon at their center. They were forging a new core of dao that was not Li Hao’s star of time.

There was only Li Hao standing outside the Star Gate. He raised his longsword, also bringing it down on his target! This was only the first bolt. If he couldn’t withstand even the first bolt, then he really was too incompetent.

Although the first bolt seemed capable of eradicating half step emperors, an enormous collision when it encountered Li Hao’s sword intent. The thunderbolt exploded, the humanoid figure dissipated.

Li Hao had executed his opponent with one blow!

The humanoid fell apart, scattering as shapeless chaos strength that melted into Silver Moon.

“Hmm?” The massive chaos beast emitted a very faint sound. How strange! The chaos tribulation wasn’t targeting the ascending world, but the master of the world. Why was that?

It wasn’t very experienced with chaos tribulations and had only seen one from afar a long time ago. It couldn’t speak to how one operated. Was the tribulation targeting the master of the world first because he represented the rising world?

The master’s strength was not bad!

It’d taken all of the world’s resources to nurture a premier half step emperor. His strength was evident to the chaos beast, but what a pity it was that the master had encountered a chaos tribulation. If not, he might’ve had a chance to set foot into the ranks of exalted emperors if he utilized the world’s ascension!

If he was the master of a mid world, he would soon become an even stronger existence. What a pity that he wouldn’t have the opportunity to do so!

The chaos beast watched silently, calculating when the chaos tribulation would end. Since it was very targeted and wouldn’t strike anyone that wasn’t its target, the beast could easily intervene and even kill Li Hao.

Its only concern was that the tribulation wouldn’t dissipate after it killed the master of the world. Instead, it might turn on the ascending world instead. Without anyone to stop it and the chaos beast being unable to stop it as well, the world would be blown to pieces.

That would be such a pity!

The second thunderbolt commenced while the chaos beast grappled with its thoughts. The tribulation was acting so swiftly that it didn’t give anyone time to prepare.

Longsword in hand, Li Hao didn’t say a word. A long river manifested and ran through the surroundings, turning into another sword that assimilated into the Firmament Sword. The weapon swung down!

“Hmm?” hummed the chaos beast again. What was that? Was the river the dao of this world? It was a bit unusual! It’d sensed a unique energy from the river—very unique. The beast wasn’t certain what it’d sensed.

Li Hao struck a second time after the river materialized—a surge of sword intent exploded like millions of stars. The blow evaporated the second thunderbolt and chaos strength once more dispersed through the area.

The two thunderbolts could kill many weaker half step emperors, but they were nothing in front of Li Hao!

Even the chaos beast was startled and appreciative of the fine little fellow. The resources of an entire world had produced an incredible powerhouse that was infinitely close to exalted emperor! There would be quite a future ahead for this master of the world if the chaos tribulation and itself wasn’t here. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

A third thunderbolt was upon the little guy!

A massive sword appeared in the void. Li Hao grunted and sprang into the air, choosing to meet the third bolt head-on. It was his first step outside the Star Gate; he swung his sword at the cosmos. The resulting sword intent brimmed with solemn killing intent. It was a similar sight to the Silver Armor they’d seen in Battle Heaven, the one who led a troop of the Battle Heaven Army into waving their swords at the firmament!

“KILL!” Li Hao was cold, harsh, and stern. There was no doubt that he would cut down his target! The long river rippled and killing intent undulated. His sword sped for the third thunderbolt!

This was just the third blow and as such, an appetizer. Li Hao was very clearly aware of that!

Therefore, he wanted to scatter it with the fastest speed that he could. The young man wished to make it through the chaos tribulation as soon as possible, before more powerhouses in the surroundings noticed the disturbance. He would absorb the power contained with the tribulation and set foot into the exalted emperor level.

Otherwise, it would be very difficult to survive this trial!

Kaboom!

Killing intent shook the heavens and the third thunderbolt quickly collapsed. The longsword shook in Li Hao’s hands and destructive power crept up his arm, disintegrating it!

Someone paled behind him. Two someones.

The Great Li king and queen!

They were ashen-faced as, according to their promises, Li Hao would have them each endure one thunderbolt. But the problem was, this tribulation was damned strong! The first three bolts were already formidable, but Li Hao didn’t call for them.

So the young man wanted them to take on the thunderbolts to come!

Holy shit!

This third thunderbolt was the equivalent of the sixth bolt from the previous tribulation. If Li Hao wanted the two of them to help... wouldn’t they be weathering the equivalent of the ninth or even tenth bolt from last time?!

He’s gotta be joking! We won’t even know how we die!

The Great Li king was as pale as a sheet, as was the queen’s heart in her mouth. Be realistic now! We’ll be dusted in half a second!

The tenth bolt from last time had killed three premier existences; Li Hao only returned because he’d been resurrected. That had been the result from the bolt being spread out over three people, but this time, the queen and the king were to take on one thunderbolt each??

“What are you waiting around for?” Li Hao’s voice rang in their ears as he cleared out the third bolt. “Silver Moon is about to ascend, which means it will generate nearly infinite energy for a while. This is your chance to progress to seventh level Fused Dao or higher. Only then will you survive. You’ll die without a doubt if not!”

The two exchanged glances; they only wanted to cuss out the young man with everything they had! They would still die even if they became half step emperors!

Why don’t you let us try the fourth bolt? We might stand a little bit of a chance with it. It’s just courting death if you send us against the later ones!

But clearly, Li Hao wasn’t going to give them that chance.

The fourth thunderbolt was yet to arrive. He looked into the void and called out in an unbending manner, “Who goes there?! I am Li Hao, the master of Silver Moon! Silver Moon world is a vassal world of New Martial! The ascension of my world is deeply tied to New Martial. Retreat at once! New Martial powerhouses will soon be arriving!”

“New Martial...” The chaos beast blinked with abrupt understanding. So this was the case!

I wondered why there was a backwater suddenly rising to mid world status, so this is a New Martial vassal world!

The chaos beast knew of some current events, that Red Moon had sent an expedition of exalted emperors to Silver Moon a few years ago. The Sword Sovereign had been in residence then and the two sides met in battle in the cosmos. Red Moon had lost quite a few exalted emperors from it.

No wonder Silver Moon dared outright ascend to a mid world, it was fully confident in doing so. But...

I may not be able to provoke New Martial, but I can certainly handle a Silver Moon!

The chaos beast had long wanted to depart this territory. It was in too much turmoil and the New Martial contingent was too brutal. But now... this area suddenly seemed just fine. The beast was actually comforted at knowing this was a New Martial vassal world. It knew of a few more details, such as there being no New Martial exalted emperor in this area!

Everyone was aware that the New Martial exalted emperors were waging wars in various places. They left as soon as they finished their business. The chaos was infinitely vast—although New Martial’s world of Yin and Yang was also big, could it possibly hunt down one chaos beast into other territories?

Not to mention, this was Silver Moon. If the beast devoured Silver Moon and notified Red Moon, that major world might reward it!

Granted, it could go without those rewards. Just this world alone would take a while to digest.

“To the fellow hidden in the dark, the Human King of New Martial will be here shortly!” Li Hao shouted. “If you are willing to render minor assistance and help me weather the chaos tribulation, New Martial is bound to thank you for it!

“Silver Moon is very important to New Martial. The ascension of a minor world to mid world is due to a dao universe developing in my world. No one has fully consolidated control it yet. Once it integrates with the core origin universe of New Martial due to their shared origins, the Human King is sure to take another step forward and conquer the chaos!

“New Martial will certainly repay you once the deed is done...”

The chaos beast shook with shock. What?? A dao universe?! How was that possible?!

No... perhaps it was possible.

It was due to this dao universe that a backwater could vault straight into the ranks of a mid world. The beast’s eyes grew bloodshot. There were countless minor worlds, mid worlds, and even a portion of major worlds that didn’t have its own dao universe.

Under normal circumstances, a dao universe was a requirement for a world to be labeled a major world. A major world represented a heritage, endless potential, and countless futures.

But for some major worlds, that wasn’t the case. Some of them reached their positions through gradual accumulation and time. They’d produced stunning powerhouses, but did not have their own dao universe!

Who would’ve thought that the chaos beast would encounter a pitiful world with its own dao universe today! A New Martial vassal world! It’d struck gold!
