Shattering Humanity-Chapter 85: The Eyes Of Wisdom

Katsu looks at his Big Bro in scared confusion.

Katsu: "What do you mean by our ’Creator’? Like it’s ’God’? Why does it look like an Iceman then? I didn’t hear it speak to us at all! Saku suddenly collapsed after he was in obvious pain. We could be in danger! Hurry up and make a portal back home!"

Daisuki is looking back and forth between the Iceman and Katsu. The Elder Iceman then does an assuring nod again at the man.

Daisuki takes a nervous swallow of saliva before he starts.

Daisuki: "Kid, when I tell you, if you gave me a time limit of ’forever’ to guess, I probably still wouldn’t be close."

A short and weak chuckling can be softly and barely heard from the Iceman as if in agreement.

Daisuki: "But from what I have pieced together either by myself or from this thing’s eye ability, it’s communicating with me telepathically through my own inner monologue. I have no idea why but I have a pretty good idea now, I think it’s friendly... for now."

The Iceman looks at Katsu and nods in agreement then back towards Daisuki. It extends its icy arm, palm up, slowly, like it was offering the human to take a seat. Its body can be heard and seen breaking off small pieces while it delicately moves.

Daisuki, sits on his butt, puts his elbows on his knees and his head on his linked hands, looking at the ground in silence.

Daisuki: "It says, ’First, I want to apologize for waking you all up while you were sleeping. Second, I feel incredibly guilty for forcing you all here and that you’ve each had to go through different pains, either to get here or while you were here, in Saku’s case."

Katsu, shocked, listens while peeking to make sure the Iceman stays stationary. Katsu crawls back to his friend’s side.

Katsu: "What happened to Saku then? Why did you control Big Bro and Saku but not me?"

Daisuki(looks like he’s listening): "’Saku is 100% fine and It can’t apologize enough for the pain Saku has gone through not only now but in his entire life. He asks that we relay his truest and deepest apologies. While unconscious, Saku is currently having a conversation with Its ’partner’."

Saku begins squirming as if in discomfort.

Saku(unconscious):"Why do you look like-"

Katsu looks at his friend, both his eyes are closed like normal. Daisuki reassures his disciple.

Daisuki: "Even if it’s not physical pain, whatever he’s going through is probably even more confusing. As for your second question, believe it or not, those frozen vessels only last 120,000,000 years, and the strength left in this one isn’t enough to control 3 eye users and force one to use their ability. This Iceman is on literal borrowed time and only has enough energy for a ’blessing’ after its connection with me."

Daisuki then lays on his back, hands rubbing his eyes in stress. There’s silence for a second. Then Katsu breaks it.

Katsu: "What does it want with us and why are we here?"

The Sensei sits back up and looks directly at the creature that they’ve known as the enemy. They EyeEngage while it looks back at the eye that has been stolen from its species. He doesn’t look away while he talks.

Daisuki: "Katsu, as the Division Leader of Izanagi, this will be your first mission from me as the Coordinator of Takamagahara."

Katsu remembers his position and puts a war face on for his Big Bro. The two EyeEngage with serious expressions.

Katsu: "Yes sir, Big Bro sir!"

Daisuki (continues): "Katsu, if my body at any point moves or if I get up from this spot, even one inch closer to you and Saku, you are to treat me as a threat and you are to kill me without hesitation and treat this thing as an enemy."

Cracks form from both the corners of where the Iceman’s closed mouth is, creating a smile.

Katsu is caught off guard and loses face.

Katsu: "Wait-wh-"

Daisuki (interrupts): "I’m not finished!"

Katsu winces in fear.

Daisuki: "This Iceman is telling me since he has one of the remaining ’eyes of wisdom’ he can communicate with other eye users without language or speech and control the users with ’recreations’ of the ’Anjell Eyes’. He also asked me if he could ’take over the driver’s seat’ and speak through me to both of us, before he ’blesses’ the power to you and your ’gifted’ eye. Only the eyes received after being ’gifted’ or ’sacrifice for another’ can receive a ’blessing’. Those who kill to take, are unable to receive a ’blessing’."

Katsu is still processing the order to kill his mentor.

Katsu: "B-B-Big B-bro. N-n-no nah I can’t. I-"

Daisuki: "KATSU!"

The military man now treating the situation as if they were captives of war, realizes what he’s saying to the young man who sees him as a big brother figure along with all the new terminology, even he’s not sure is true. He breaks the EyeEngage with the Iceman and turns to his ’Lil Bro’.

Daisuki (with a reassuring smile): "You guys are my little brothers, because of you and Saku, I now have more ’Treasures’ than anyone could ever hope for. I would rather be dead than live having lost what I view as my treasure."

The cracks on the old creature slowly grow progressively more vertical. The eye drops a single tear that, once it falls off its cheek, turns into a gently floating snowflake.

Daisuki closes his eyes with his head down and clenches his teeth.

Daisuki: "Goddamn this is freaking weird! Ok."

Daisuki stands back up and once again EyeEngages with the alien.

Daisuki: "Ok, go ahead."

Katsu watches as Daisuki while standing, lowers his head and then raises it with just the Iceman eye open, and in pink and purple diamond checkerboard pattern signifying the Elder Iceman is in control.

Daisuki’s body looks at his arms and legs that, then jumps up in excitement barely keeping its balance.

Daisuki(Elder Iceman{EI}): "Woa-woaah...WOAAHH!!

As the mentors body begins to fall, his left leg braces the body and Daisuki’s human eye opens which closes his IceEye. 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

Daisuki(himself): "AYE WHAT DID I SAY ICEMAN!? Huh?

He realizes that he took back control faster than he thought. He looks at a shaking Katsu holding Saku’s knife. His human eye closes and the IceEye opens.

Daisuki(EI): "See my child? I don’t mean to alarm you with my excitement you see? It’s just been a while since I had a vessel able to move so ’freely’! (hops and lands perfectly) If at any point my actions seem suspect, you are free to take control."

The mentor’s IceEye closes and the human eye opens.

Daisuki(himself): *takes deep breath* "Ok. Ok. My fault Iceman, just don’t cause the kid to shit himself."

(Eyes switch)

The weird pattern eye looking at the boy protecting his friend even if in fear. Daisuki’s face smiles and the IceEye stays open.

Daisuki(EI): "Young Katsu, I’m sure you already know that your name means "The Winner", but seeing how you treat those most lonely with respect and kindness, your gained friends are the true winners."

Katsu’s shaking begins to slow down. He stares at his mentor who is speaking with his voice, but the "aliens words" are being heard. Daisuki walks towards the Iceman vessel sitting in the seat.

Katsu: "Ok, now answer my question. What do you want with us? How do you know anything about me? Can you read Big Bro’s memory too?"

Daisuki (EI): "No, but I’ve been watching through all your eyes, as well as that Commander Gray, his replacement Nephilim, and all the others who have those ’eye beings’ that were recreated in the image of the ’Anjell Eyes’. Knowing your mentor’s ability was the only possible way to make this meeting possible, I asked my ’Anjell Eye’ to use its ability to connect to Gray’s subconscious. To make sure, the mentor Daisuki was matched with Saku, and you, Katsu, into the same ’Squad’. So I could give you this ’Communication Eye’ and bless your friend Saku with the ’Absorption Eye’. But seeing as you were luckily gifted an eye by your female partner, I can bless your replica eye!"

Katsu looks down at Saku still asleep, his teammate mumbles incoherently.

Katsu:"Why? We’re complete opposite personalities, who have lived two completely different lives, and have two completely different purposes. Why us two?"

Daisuki’s body is stretching and he sighs in relief.

Daisuki (EI):"Woooooo! So this is how muscle fibers feel?! Just stretching makes me proud of our accomplishment, Lilith."

(Eyes switch)

Daisuki (self): "Lilith? Is that the name of your ’partner’ that you said was talking to Saku right now as he’s unconscious?

(Eyes switch)

Saku is shown breathing heavily and sweating in Katsu’s arms.

Daisuki (EI): "Yes, Lilith is the ’name’ of my partner who helped me create the meteor that contained the genetic code for ’Intelligent Complex Life’. That same meteor crashed into your planet and was the launching point for human evolution today!(looks at Katsu) It’s the very fact you both acknowledge your differences that end up drawing you two closer to each other. Like your mentor relayed to you before, the reason I’ve brought you and Saku here is to ’bless’ your left ’Anjell Eyes’ as the new ’Communication Eye of Wisdom’ and his Anjell Eye is in the process of receiving a blessing as the newest ’Absorption Eye of Wisdom."

Katsu (suspicious): "Communication? Absorption? Are there any more of these ’Eyes of Wisdom’? And I thought you said you had to use your powers to control Gray into making us a team? Now you’re saying our differences attract us together like magnets?"

Daisuki’s face turns into infatuation and amazement.

Daisuki (EI): "Yes there are...were four. Now there are a total of three ’Anjel Eyes of Wisdom’.

Communication, Absorption, and Creation.

The fourth, the Destruction Eye is no longer in existence. As for your concern about Gray, I never said I interfered. I only used the ability to make sure you two had already been put on a team. Isn’t it amazing!? Both of you boys, coinciding, the personifications of Yin and Yang together.You Katsu, the personification of the brightest of light keeping the darkest of horrors dormant, represented by odd numbers, born looking through the same eyes as your father as well as his morals, and azure blues that are always present with you."

Katsu: " Born looking through the same eyes...as my father? Azure blues?"

He realizes Shelly’s eye color is blue.

Katsu: "Shelly?!"

Daisuki (EI): "Out of all those coincidences you immediately thought of the one that connects with a female? Even more proof."

Katsu(upset): "Why does everyone point out that she’s a girl?! She’s stronger than all of us combined and has gone through something more terrifying and mentally painful than what we’re all going through now...(looks at Saku) ...and that’s combined."

Cut to Shelly back at Sanpaku, her back against the wall and her legs in a sleeping bag. She sneezes, wakes up momentarily. She looks at a polaroid picture of her and Katsu when they were at the academy. In the picture she is blushing with Katsu behind her smiling with his arms over her shoulders. Shelly snuggles the picture.

Shelly: "Thank you, Tristan."

She then goes back to sleep.
