Chapter 105: Chapter 105: Rhiannon’s 70% Resemblance to the Lancasters

Wren Sutton knew she had stood him up. She could just imagine the furious look on Adrian Lancaster’s face.

But it was for a good reason. Besides, she’d already apologized. ’He should be able to understand, right?’

’It’s just one meal, not the end of the world.’

Having reassured herself, Wren Sutton pushed the matter from her mind, refusing to waste energy dwelling on it.

She glanced in the rearview mirror. The little girl was sitting obediently in the back, quietly and earnestly combing her doll’s hair with a small comb.

Wren Sutton sighed inwardly, her feelings complicated. She looked away, not wanting to disturb the little girl, and let her remain immersed in her own world. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

Back home, Wren Sutton carried the little girl to the sofa, wiped her face and hands with a damp towel, and gave her some snacks and fruit.

"You can sit here and watch some cartoons for a bit. I’m going to make dinner."

In the unfamiliar surroundings, the little girl nodded shyly. Her eyes were crystal clear and achingly sweet.

"You’re still not willing to talk." Wren Sutton patted her head and gave a helpless smile. "But that’s okay. You can talk whenever you’re ready."

’Her intuition told her the girl wasn’t mute; she was just unwilling to speak for some reason. And in that case, it was best not to push her.’

Soon, Wren Sutton finished cooking and sat down next to the little girl.

"Do you want to eat by yourself, or should I feed you?"

The little girl shook her head, indicating she didn’t need to be fed. She picked up her chopsticks and began to eat with relish. She was remarkably well-behaved.

"Amazing," Wren Sutton said, giving her a thumbs-up.

A happy smile spread across the little girl’s face.

Wren Sutton’s heart melted.

After dinner, the little girl lay on the sofa to rest, cuddling her doll.

Wren Sutton suggested she sleep in the bedroom, but she shook her head and insisted on sleeping on the sofa, her big, round eyes full of pleading.

Wren Sutton couldn’t bring herself to refuse. She agreed, fetching a pillow and a summer quilt from the bedroom.

The little girl was exhausted and fell asleep in minutes. Her long eyelashes cast faint shadows on her eyelids, trembling slightly with each breath.

Wren Sutton leaned against the sofa, staying with the little girl and carefully studying her features.

The little one was destined to be a beauty; every feature on her face was as delicate as a porcelain doll’s. Whoever she ended up with would be one lucky guy.

"Sweetie, your parents must be gorgeous to have a daughter as pretty as you," she murmured.

Wren Sutton’s gaze was doting. But as she kept looking, in a flash, the smile on her lips froze. Her expression shifted to something strange, then to pure shock.

’What in the world!’

’Was I just seeing things?’

She could actually see a shadow of the Lancaster family in the little girl’s face—especially that trace of Rhiannon between her brows, which bore a strong resemblance to Lucia Lancaster.

’No wonder. From the moment I first saw this little girl, I felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity.’

’Could such a coincidence really exist?’

Wren Sutton looked away, her thoughts a tangled mess. She couldn’t make heads or tails of it.

She got up from the sofa and walked out to the balcony, trying to distract herself.

’It could all just be a coincidence. It would be far too reckless to jump to conclusions about family ties based on looks alone.’

The little girl slept until she woke up on her own. When she opened her eyes and sat up, she didn’t see Wren Sutton. Panic set in, and the little girl burst into tears, her bare feet hitting the floor as she searched everywhere for her.

Hearing the crying, Wren Sutton rushed out of the bathroom.

’I was only gone for a few minutes! I didn’t expect her to wake up so suddenly.’

"What’s wrong, sweetie?"

The little girl turned, ran, and threw herself into Wren Sutton’s arms, hugging her tightly. She cried as if her heart was broken, sobbing out a single word, "Mama..."

Wren Sutton froze.
