Saving The Villainous Monster From The Male Lead-Chapter 69 - 68: Forgotten Memories
Caelestis bought a glass of water from the table side of the bed where Stella was lying. He passed it onto Eleanore. She silently took it and gulped it all in.
"What happened?" He asked.
Eleanore turned to him. Her face was filled with patches of tears that had streamed out of her swollen eyes. She looked at him for a moment. "I dreamed about my mother." She says.
"The late duchess?" He asked. If his memories served him right, Eleanore had forgotten about the murder of her mother on that day. The day he lost everything.
"Yes." She leaned behind, holding the empty glass, feeling confused and down. "I heard her voice when I and Stella were hiding in the closet."
"She died in front of the closet, you were hidden in, when you were little." He leaned back as well.
"How did I forget something so important?" She asked. It was a question to herself. She didn’t expect Caelestis to have an answer for it.
"You were emotionally taken aback, when your father was murdered in the middle of the road of the capital city." He began telling her the past, she deserved to know. "Two years later, your mother died in front of your own eyes. And if all that was not enough, a year later you lost your godmother and godfather."
"Your parents? How did they die?" Eleanore asked out of curiosity.
Instead of answering that question, Caelestis preferred to remain quiet. What is the point in bringing out the old wounds? They are best hidden away in the dark.
His silence was the answer. He probably was not comfortable, and Eleanore noticed it, so she changed the question. "Why do I not remember anything?" A question that had been lingering in her mind from the moment she had entered this fantasy world.
"You had an asthma attack after my parents passed away. When you woke up again, you had forgotten everything related to the death of your and my parents. If we were to ever try and help you remember those memories, you would act just like how you did today. Although, it used to be worse than this." He explained, staring at the ceiling, not having the strength to face her.
"I predicted as much. I think my memories are coming back to me. The assassination event reminded me of the deepest wound in my heart." Saying this, she got out of her seat but Caelestis was not done talking.
He still had the apology he was supposed to give her in the back of his mind. This was the right time. Now that he knows what had happened to her that made her unable to move. She deserves the apology even more. In a hurry, he just quickly grabbed her wrist and pulled her towards him.
It was an absolutely unintentional move. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝒆𝔀𝒆𝙗𝓷𝒐𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝓸𝓶
The glass fell out of Eleanore’s hand from the sudden pull, and she lost her balance and fell on his lap, while her open hair flew all over his face.
Caelestis was just as shocked as Eleanore. The sudden soft feeling of the tiny strands of her blond hair on his face. Her warm back leaning on his firm chest and her sitting on his lap. It was all strange. This sudden physical touch made them both feel awkward and stunned. They froze for a while, before Caelestis got his lost senses back.
"I—" He began, but before he could say anything more.
Victor entered into the scene out of nowhere. Just like them, he also froze. Completely surprised from the image in front of him.
Two enemies, who only believed in tormenting and fighting with each other from the last few months, have suddenly turned back to how things were before?
No! It was the opposite; the pursuer has changed.
Eleanore, on seeing Victor, snapped out of her nonexistent feelings and quickly got out of his lap. She turned to get a final glance of Caelestis, before leaving. He was flustered, just as much as she was. ’Is his heart also racing at the same speed as mine?’ She wondered, then shook off that thought.
"I— I—" She stammered. "I need to see how Marina is doing." Saying that she rushed out of the room.
Victor stepped forward to Caelestis, who had his eyes still locked on the open door from where Eleanore had left. He sat next to his lord and wondered. Could it be that this man was perhaps, maybe, harassing her, like always? There is no way one could stop hating a person they have hated for fifteen years.
"What were you two doing?" He asked, breaking down Caelestis’ internal turmoil.
"What?" He was unaware as to what Victor was talking about. He was too flabbergasted to understand the weird question thrown his way.
"Why was she on your lap? Isn’t she liking your biggest enemy?" He asked in a bit clearer word.
"No—" Victor cut him off, with a strange question.
"Wait! Were you harassing her?" He asked, letting his wild thoughts take the form of words flying out of his mouth.
"What?" Caelestis jolted out of the couch in surprise. "What— Nonsense." He shouted, before excusing himself from the room as well.
Eleanore covered her cheeks with her palms and could feel the heat transferring into them, as she rushed out of the mansion to grab some fresh air. She didn’t know what was going on with her heart, it just wouldn’t calm down. No matter how hard she tries. What to do?
When she stepped out of the Mansion, she found a carriage standing next to the closed main gates of the estate. The gate was very far away from where she was standing, and she could only narrow her vision to see what was going on.
A knight stepped out of the carriage and started having a conversation with the gatekeeper. Unknowingly, Eleanore started to make her way forward to the gate.
"Hael?"
