Saving The Villainous Monster From The Male Lead-Chapter 68 - 67: A Mother’s Love
Her room’s door suddenly bashed open, making her eyes jolt up from the loud thud. She found herself under an unfamiliar ceiling and in an unseen room.
Out of nowhere a woman’s face popped in front of her, her deep blue hair covered around her small face and her eyes were locked on the door, instead of her.
Just as Eleanore started wondering who she was, her gaze turned to her, in the light’s speed.
"Honey!" She called her out. Her voice was sweet yet laced with worry and fear. It was very familiar and yet foreign.
She bit her lips, probably wondering what to say next. Once more she shot a look at the door and then turned back her. "Come on! Let’s play hide and Seek." She speaks.
’Hide and seek? I am no child. Why is this woman acting like I am her child or something?’
The woman suddenly picked her up in her arms. Eleanore found her head lying on her shoulders, when her eyes fell on her hands, she realized they were tiny.
’What the hell? Am I a child? This is a dream, a memory dream.’
"Honey! You must hide in the closet, and I will come find you." She said, as she started towards the only closet in the room.
"How will you find me if you know where I am?" A cute, drowsy voice came out of Eleanore’s mouth. She didn’t mean to say those words; they just came out of her mouth.
’Why does this dream feel so real?’
"Don’t worry, I will—" She paused for a moment as she stood in front of the closet. Before placing Eleanore into it, she stole another glance of the open door, from where no light was coming.
" —Even if I try honey. Mommy won’t be able to find you easily." She completes her confusing words.
She gently opened the door of the closet, creating as little voice as possible. She then placed Eleanore into it.
She sat on the wooden floor of the closet, which was covered with a thick cushion. She caught her soft cheeks in between her two palms, after which a sad smile broke on her face. "Honey! Stay here. Mommy will be back to get you. Okay?" She said,
Eleanore wondered. She was absolutely sure, and she could bet that had heard those same words in the same tone and same voice somewhere.
"No! Mommy. I think I’m scared. I don’t want to play this game." She spoke again. Her mouth was just running on its own.
"Elle! Honey. Please. Don’t make this harder for your mother than it already is." She cries as she lets go of her daughter’s face and turns to leave the closet.
"No mommy." Eleanore caught the tail of her silk metal blue nightdress. She didn’t want her mother to leave, so she tried to stop her from leaving.
But the woman she was calling mommy shoved it away. Every inch of her face showed remorse and agony. Her heart was tearing apart on the separation from her daughter.
"Stay." She says in a voice, almost a whisper, before stepping out and closing the closet quickly.
"No! Mommy." She turned to the door and started to slam them, screaming in fear of being left alone. "Mommy! Open the door. Mommy! Please. Mommy!"
The woman, the duchess of the great duchy Sinclair, leaned her back on the closed doors of the closet, helplessly. The closet was voice resistant. No voice from inside could get out but everything going on outside is audible.
The duchess reached out to the sword she had left near her daughter’s bed, before she went on to hide her in the closet. It had only been a few minutes, and the assassins had already caught up with her. She knew that today was going to be the end of her, but she still hated it.
She hissed in pain when she moved to clash with the swords of her enemies. Her stomach had been badly injured from the surprise attack in her study. She barely made her way here to make sure her daughter was sent to a safe spot.
Eleanore was crying loudly, as she continued to bang on the door like there was no tomorrow. Until she heard loud noises of swords clashing. She covered her ears in fear. For minutes that felt like hours. She remained trapped in that closet, when a loud thud landed on the wooden door, sealed with some special material.
"Where is your daughter?" One of the assassins asked.
But the duchess, who knew her daughter was right behind the door she was lying on, wounded. Didn’t respond to his words.
"You won’t be able to stay alive for long, anyways. Just tell us where she is." Eleanore heard another voice.
’Are they assassins?’ She wondered.
Leaning on the door of the closet, behind which her daughter was hidden, she smirked. "You will never find her." One of them got irritated by her persistence and just lost it.
A sword pierced through the door in front of Eleanore. It’s sharp edge only inches away from her right eye. She screamed in horror, when a few droplets of blood fell on her favorite white nightgown. "Mommy!"
"Mommy, Ah!" Eleanore jolted out of her memories with a loud scream, scaring even Caelestis present in the room.
Tears started to stream out of her eyes as she shivered in fear. The original owner’s mother died in front of her, this memory must have been so sacred that it was hidden deep inside her mind. As if forgotten forever.
Eleanore could feel her heart crunching from pain, her mind continuously replayed the dark memory in front of her eyes over and over again. As if trying to convince her that this is reality, and she must accept it.
She crunched into a ball on the couch, as she started breathing heavily and crying out in pain. Caelestis was completely shocked to see her in that condition.
Just hours ago, when Victor finally left him alone in his study, to attend to his work. He sneaked in and found Eleanore sound asleep while Stella was still unconscious in her bed. Before entering the room, he had made up his mind to apologise for blaming her.
After pondering over the matter the whole night, he finally came to realise that it was indeed his mistake and that he owes an apology to her. Then in the morning he got another bad news, and his anger blasted out again.
He forgot to apologise and was instead thrown out of the room because of the chaos he was causing. He had made up his mind that today he shall at any cost apologise to Eleanore. But then she was so soundly asleep, that he couldn’t bear to wake her up.
Waiting for her to wake up was his only option.
"Eleanore" He rushed to her. "What’s wrong?"
She was weeping in despair, her crying sounded so painful that even Caelestis, the arrogant fool, melted.
"Calm down." He whispered, as she continued wailing.
"Maa!" Eleanore remembered her mother from the real world. Turns out both of them had the same fate. Both their mothers were murdered cruelly.
"Are you perhaps having an asthma attack? Should I get your pump?" He guessed, noticing her unstable breathing.
Eleanore pushed him away, slamming herself back, but Caelestis pulled her close in time. He wrapped his arms around her, restricting her from hurting herself.
"Eleanore? Do you need your pump?" He asked again, while she continued to bury her face in his chest. While his fingers gripping on his loose clothing as she tried to calm her racing heart.
Caelestis moved, he wanted to bring her, her medicine but in return, she only tightened her grip on him.
"Don’t go. I am not having an attack." She stammered, when her crying finally came into her control.
"Are you okay?" Caelestis was genuinely scared for her.
"Yes." She pulled her face out of his chest and instead just rested on that firm support.
They remained in that position for a long time and Caelestis could only hug her back, with an intention to comfort her. He didn’t complain and to be honest he actually liked this warm hug.
If it was possible for him, he would want to stay like this longer, but Eleanore pushed him away, once her heart had calmed down.
"I feel much better now." She says, before moving to the corner of the couch.
Caelestis felt used. She hugged him only because she was not feeling well and once she was better, she abandoned him.
