Saving The Villainous Monster From The Male Lead-Chapter 110 - 109: The Sparks of Cold War
Eleanore walked back to the ballroom. She truly wanted to save this friendship, she never knew or had felt. But when she entered, there was a bigger thing waiting for her.
As if there was not enough chaos in her life, a new one had emerged. The whole crowd in the ball room along with the royal family were shocked by this sudden fight that had erupted between the two pillars of the kingdom. The only two dukes of the kingdom were now fighting over a woman.
How shameful is that!
Eleanore quickly rushed to her brother and her childhood friend. Both their hands were grabbing each other’s collars and their eyes glaring at the other like they would kill them at any time.
"What the hell is wrong with you two?" She shouted through the hall as she almost ran to those two. "Shop it!"
The crowd’s attention turned to Eleanore who was passing through them, like a hero who had come to save the day. She jumped between the two and pushed her brother’s hand down quickly, as she faced him and asked him to let go with just her eyes speaking.
She then grabbed Caelestis hand and tried to free her brother, but he wouldn’t let go. "Grand duke, what are you doing?" She glared at him over her shoulder. "Stop this madness."
Caelestis remains quiet, glaring back at Eleanore having no interest in listening to her orders. His indifference angered Hael again, he raised his fist, but Eleanore stopped, by catching it in her hand.
"Brother?!" She looks at him in disbelief, as she pushes Caelestis a little behind, with an intention to save him from any more fists coming his way. "Please." She begged.
Then tried to bring down Caelestis’ hand that had still not let go of her brother’s collars, by putting her weight on it, before turning to him. "Grand duke, please, stop this, please." She begs again.
His eyes shift to hers and he lets go. "Hael, you have no idea what you have done."
"Oh, really. I know very well what I am doing though." Hael responds.
Eleanore is still standing between the two, her palms on each of their chests trying to keep them apart from each other.
"Both of you please stop fighting. At Least see where you two are standing." Her gaze shifts between the two newly emerged enemies. "We are in the royal palace, and this is the Founding Day Celebration, opening party. You two are insulting the royal family. So just shut up now!" She increases her pitch in the last sentence, to add some weight to it.
"Eleanore, this man is degrading in etiquette day by day. This is outrageous." Hael begins, but Eleanore stops him.
"Whatever it is, we can deal with that outside." She says in a low but firm voice.
Caelestis walks behind, far from Eleanore and Hael then storms out of the room, without a word. Her eyes remained fixed on his back as he left. What might have happened? Did he perhaps pounce on Hael because he couldn’t see Stella with him?
"This is all my fault." Stella walks to her. "I should have never come here with the duke."
"It isn’t your fault, Stella." Hael assures her.
"That’s right." Eleanore adds in. "Let’s go home." She grabs her hand, but Stella doesn’t move.
"No, I can go on my own—"
"Shut up! Let’s go already." Hael cut her off, grabbed her arm and pulled her out of the ballroom.
Eleanore looked around, feeling embarrassed under the stare of these useless nobles, as she left the room as well, following far behind her brother and Stella.
The carriage was waiting for her. She took the help of a knight of the Sinclair family and climbed in. She sat next to Stella and the carriage started rumbling as it departed out of the royal lands.
She remained quiet for a while. But soon curiosity got the best of her, and she couldn’t help but ask. "What happened?"
Her question drew their attention towards her. Stella looked at Eleanore for a while before turning away to the window and Hael’s gaze travelled from her to Stella. He quickly understood that Stella didn’t want to talk about this, so he too turned silent.
Eleanore pressed her fingers against her temples in disbelief. These two aren’t even a couple yet but are already hiding things from her.
"I must know about this matter, as part of the family. So, it would be good if you two tell me what happened or else I have other ways to find out." She speaks.
"Like?" Hael questioned her sources.
"Like asking the grand duke himself." She reveals the information about her other sources.
"You are not going to that scoundrel." He yells.
"Fine." Her eyes widened in anger. "Then how about you tell me what happened?"
"Elle—"
"I proposed to your brother." Stella said, keeping her gaze on the window. "He said no."
Eleanore’s face jolted to her brother’s way. He looked shocked too. "I didn’t say no. I said, I’m not sure."
"That’s the same." Stella argues, glaring at him.
"No, it is not." He retaliates.
"Whatever." She turns to Eleanore, sitting beside her. "Anyways, I think he must have seen my sad face and rushed in to ask what was going on and assumed correctly that Hael’s words had saddened me. So, they got into a fight, over me." Saying that, she turned to the window again, ending the discussion.
They again turned quiet until her shop arrived and it was time for her to leave. Hael got down first and held out his hand, but Stella didn’t take it and instead jumped down. She started to the entrance, but Hael grabbed her wrist and stopped her.
"I didn’t say, I don’t like you." He begins. "I am just not sure about my feelings. The proposal was so random—"
"Oh my! Dear Duke. I apologise for proposing to you randomly." She turned around, her platinum hair flying in the night sky due to the sudden gush of wind passing between them.
"Stella. You know I didn’t mean that." He tries to calm her down.
"Oh, really?" She frowns.
"What I am trying to say is that I need time."
Stella turns silent. She opens her mouth twice but closes it every time, eating away her own words. Her gaze fell on Eleanore, sitting in the carriage. She had her eyes fixed on her. She moved her mouth and said a word, Stella instantly grabbed.
"Then can I court you?" She asked, a smile emerged on his face almost instantly.
"Of course." His response made her feel better and her love achievable.
"Fine, then meet me tomorrow at noon for a date." It almost sounded like an ordered.
"Wait, I didn’t say we are dating or anything."
"But you said, I can court you." She argued.
"That’s right but—"
"Then come tomorrow at noon."
Hael felt defeated by her urging request, that was more of an order which he didn’t dislike at all. "Okay."
A small smile sparked on Eleanore’s face on hearing that conversation.
