Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 463: "That’s not my problem."
Suddenly a man dressed in a striking red and black robe came on the platform and began to recite his poetry. His gaze wandered across the room only to meet Qie Xieling’s gaze. Something flickered in his eyes and the poem that was being recited for the entire crowd suddenly felt like it was being directed to him in an attempt to captivate him.
However, Qie Xieling remained unfazed, unmoved by the attention that he unwittingly garnered. In fact, he averted his gaze before whispering to Jolie.
"Do you want to go and eat? I am starving," he said his stomach growling. Jolie who always wanted to stir drama for her amusement said,
"No, not yet. Let’s hear two more." Qie Xieling sighed while fanning himself with the hand fan.
Unbeknownst to Qie Xieling, the man in red and black was intrigued by her indifference. Curiosity got the better of him, and he decided to approach her after he finished reciting his poem. The young women were swooning over him and even the cold-faced Lee Ya was looking forward to him coming over but there was an unexpected turn of events.
He approached Qie Xieling and greeted him. Qie Xieling who had never in his life been approached by a man directly was a little surprised. He thought that the whole eye contact would end at that but who would have thought the man would pursue him?
"How rude of me. Let me introduce myself. I am young master Ying... and who might you be?" he asked but anyone could tell at a glance that he was a playboy.
Qie Xieling snorted while finding it rather amusing. He was the human version of a handbook on how to charm anyone so his trick wouldn’t work on him.
"I am a married man, that’s what... so move right along," he said but to his surprise, young Master Ying wasn’t deterred. In fact, he looked like he was even more intrigued and curious.
"A man?" he exclaimed while looking him up and down. "A ger yes but not a man," he said with a sly smile.
Qie Xieling, "..."
Jolie, ’This is good. Keep going.’
"Young master Ying please respect yourself," said Qie Xieling gritting his teeth but the man found it rather amusing. He laughed softly before saying,
"I am just jok-," but his words abruptly stopped. That’s because behind Qie Xieling was a figure wearing a dark cloak with the emblem of the Lee family. From the shadows of the hood was a pair of fierce bloodshot eyes daring him to say another word.
He suddenly felt a biting chill travelling up his spine as he subconsciously took a step back. "I... well," he stammered and Qie Xieling unaware that his man was standing behind him mocked the young man.
"I, well what? Go make yourself useful elsewhere," he said and the man swallowed before bowing.
"My apologies," he said before turning to scurry away. The people around them had long noticed that figure they could never mistake anywhere. They were already mumbling under their breath. Luo Muchen was undoubtedly disinterested in such events they were surprised to see him.
Someone tapped Lee Ya on the shoulder and whispered something. She turned back and saw her half-brother standing behind a young woman. She stood up and walked over to him with an air of arrogance but before she reached them Luo Muchen grabbed the woman’s wrist and pulled her out of the hall.
Because the woman was covered with a hand fan on half her face she couldn’t tell who it was so she asked her maidservant. "Who is that?"
The maidservant had no idea either. "I will find out young miss," she replied and Lee Ya laughed.
"He has always been the pure kind who never even looked at women no matter who my mother sent to his bed... yet here he is as a married man chasing skirts. How fascinating."
Luo Muchen had no idea that he had been labelled as promiscuous. He kept dragging Qie Xieling along while Qie Xieling yelled at Jolie inwardly.
’You were supposed to warn me in advance. Fuck, his grip is too tight,’ he said and Jolie shrugged her shoulders before saying,
’I didn’t see him coming. He was like a ghost in the night.’
Qie Xieling didn’t believe that one bit. ’I wasn’t born yesterday. You freaking knew he was standing behind me.’
Jolie pretended to clutch her invisible pearls and said, ’I would never. I would have told you if I knew.’
Qie Xieling was shoved into the horse drawn courage and hit the back of his head on the carriage wall. Unable to accept this injustice he kicked Luo Muchen’s chest and Luo Muchen who didn’t expect him to retaliate was caught unprepared. Granted the strike was like being shoved by a cat but still.
"You!" he exclaimed in utter shock. Qie Xieling rubbed the back of his head and retorted,
"You started it. The fuck did you have to be rough for?" Luo Muchen glared at him for a while but he soon realised that Qie Xieling had a point. It was he who was rough first.
He closed the door and the carriage began to move leaving behind Bo Ailun and Jolie. Jolie glanced at him and asked, "Do you want to get some skewers?"
Bo Ailun almost rolled his eyes before following after the carriage. Jolie shrugged her shoulders nonchalantly before heading towards the bustling market. Was she concerned that Qie Xieling might be in trouble? Maybe, but she thought it wasn’t anything that Qie Xieling couldn’t handle. If he needed help he would ask.
Meanwhile, the carriage rode a short distance before reaching the Lee family home. Luo Muchen still grabbing Qie Xieling’s wrist dragged him towards his courtyard and the servants looked on curiously with some hoping that the young master would beat Qie Xieling and then divorce him.
On the contrary, Qie Xieling was pushed into the bedroom and Luo Muchen ordered, "You are not to step a foot out of this courtyard without my permission."
Qie Xieling, "..."
He sneered before saying, "You must be joking, right? What am I supposed to do all day."
Luo Muchen gritted his teeth before saying, "That’s not my problem."
Qie Xieling, "..."
