Chapter 452: Wedding night

After a minute or two he lifted his head slightly and found that Luo Muchen was back to chatting it up with the guests. Qie Xieling licked his lips as he slowly got up and jumped onto the next roof his footsteps light.

He ran toward the direction of the pond, his lithe form moving with grace and precision. He crouched down on the rooftop and as expected Bi Yu was lurking in the shadows waiting to talk to somebody else’s husband. She was hiding within the dense foliage of the bushes nervously checking the direction Luo Muchen would come from. She had sent her maidservant to give Luo Muchen a letter. After he read it he would most definitely come to see her.

Qie Xieling’s eyes narrowed feeling enraged. Without hesitation, he leapt off the roof, his agile body soaring through the air, and landed with remarkable dexterity. In one fluid motion, he closed the distance between them, seizing Bi Yu by the back of her collar.

"What are you doing?!" she asked but soon there was no conversation between them. She could tell that this person had intentions to harm her thus she retaliated.

She fought back fiercely, her movements mirroring his own training. It was because they both shared the same master, their skills perfectly matched. Their bodies twisted and weaved, exchanging blows and parries with lightning speed.

With a well-placed strike, Qie Xieling managed to subdue Bi Yu, momentarily incapacitating her. He swiftly bound her wrists with the belt of her robe ensuring she would not escape.

Taking a moment to catch his breath he secured her tightly to a sturdy post near the pond. He planned to leave her here for all to see tomorrow morning.

"Next time stay away from my man," he whispered while gently slapping her cheek. Bi Yu was completely knocked out cold and felt nothing.

Qie Xieling chuckled softly before disappearing into the night. He couldn’t wait for tomorrow’s shit show. He could imagine how theatrical it would be.

After jumping over a few roofs Qie Xieling was back at the courtyard. He straddled the windowsill, carefully manoeuvring his body back into the bridal chamber. The moonlight cast a pale glow on his face, revealing beads of sweat forming on his brow.

With trembling hands, he reached up and untied the knot securing Luo Muchen’s hooded robe, sliding it off his delicate frame.

Hanging the robe back in its rightful place, he took a deep breath, attempting to calm his racing mind. He was very nervous about tonight. He didn’t know how he was going to manage to survive tonight without Luo Muchen noticing something was wrong.

He hoped the man was possibly too drunk to notice. He quickly pulled on his wedding robe and smoothed out the creases, before deftly pinning back his veil, obscuring his face once more. He was glad no one noticed he was gone otherwise it would be a whole separate issue.

His nervousness grew the longer he waited. He even contemplated pretending to have fallen asleep but that was also bad because Luo Muchen might lift his veil while he was lying down and chop him like a fish on a chopping block.

The room seemed to close in on him, its walls whispering his doom. With a shaky hand, he poured the wedding wine into a small cup, the liquid shimmering under the candlelight’s gentle gaze. Downing the first cup, his throat burned, but his nerves seemed to calm.

Just as he was about to pour out a second cup the sound of the door handle turning startled him. He swiftly set the cup down trying to make it look like it looked before and hurriedly composed himself, forcing an innocent expression onto his face as he sat down on the edge of the bed. He looked like a very obedient wife eagerly waiting for his new husband’s instructions.

The door creaked open followed by the heavy sounds of boots stepping on the wooden floor. Each step they took caused his heart to jolt his breath caught in his chest. Luo Muchen got closer and closer but right before he reached him the sound of women chatting filled the room. They were most likely Lee family members curious to see what the bride looked like.

His heart skipped a beat as his mind churned trying to come up with a reason not to have his veil removed. Just as he was about to speak up and give an excuse, Luo Muchen said, "You can leave."

"But, young master... we aren’t done with the other rituals."

Luo Muchen turned to look at them before saying, "Leave us alone," his tone making it sound like it wasn’t a request but an order.

Soon the room fell into an eerie silence. They closed the door behind them but they hadn’t left. Qie Xieling heard Luo Muchen’s footsteps move towards the table. He bit his lower lip while rubbing his thumb and index finger together in nervousness.

Luo Muchen picked up the steel yard and walked towards his visibly nervous bride. He reached the steel yard toward the veil but the moment it touched it, his bride grasped his wrist and Luo Muchen’s brow furrowed when he felt her grip.

"Wife what’s... what’s wrong?" he asked. His voice sounded normal but Qie Xieling could tell this man was wasted.

He cleared his throat before saying, "I am... I am not ready for you to see me. I am uncomfortable," his voice slightly high-pitched channelling his inner diva.

Luo Muchen paused for a very long time and the two of them didn’t move for a while. The entire time Qie Xieling was holding his breath. He planned on knocking out Luo Muchen if it came to that but he didn’t realise how difficult of a task it would be. There was no way in this world Qie Xieling would have been able to knock him out.

After what seemed like an eternity, Luo Muchen retracted the steel yard and took a step back. Qie Xieling exhaled deeply. He could hear Luo Muchen pouring out some wine into the cups. Luo Muchen on the other hand could tell that his wife had already helped herself to some because the other cup had clearly been used.

He showed a slight smile before pouring out the wine and adding the aphrodisiac given to him by his father to both their cups. He walked over to the bed and sat beside her. "Here... it will help you relax."

Qie Xieling whispered, "Thank you."
