Chapter 451: Playing the victim

Qie Xieling hated that she was talking crap about Luo Muchen but he couldn’t say anything as of yet. Lee Ya didn’t really appreciate being ignored so she leaned down with a sneer as she said, "Hey, I am talking to you." She was quite intimidating her voice tyrannical.

’Aish, I just want to slap her face. A ger is just as weak as a woman right?’ he asked Jolie.

’No, if I were you I would act like a green tea bitch. You better act pitiful like she was bullying such a weak helpless creature,’ replied Jolie and Qie Xieling suddenly sniffled his shoulders shaking.

’Welp that will do it. Put more passion into it. Weep like you just lost your favourite sneakers.’

Qie Xieling, ’Huh?’

’That won’t do. Cry like you lost your pendant that Luo Muchen gave you. Cry like you lost it while swimming in the ocean and it’s gone forever,’ said Jolie and Qie Xieling’s eyes stung and he actually started crying for real.

Everyone, ’...’

’Too much too much. Dial it down.’

Qie Xieling couldn’t resist saying, ’But it’s so sad.’

Jolie, ’Oh god.’ 𝒻𝑟𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝑛𝘰𝓋ℯ𝘭.𝘤𝘰𝘮

"Young miss, we wouldn’t want to upset the new in law and anger the young master," said Madam Lee’s close confidant.

Lee Ya’s lips twitched before flicking her sleeve and storming out.

"We will wait outside. If the young miss wants something please let us know," she continued to say and before he could answer they scurried out like they were afraid Luo Muchen would walk in and find them at the crime scene while his wife was crying. They would be the ones to be punished, not the culprit. As soon as the door closed Qie Xieling abruptly stopped crying and sneered.

’I now know why people play the victim. It gets you out of trouble sometimes,’ he said to Jolie but Jolie didn’t seem to be there. ’JoJo,’ called out Qie Xieling trying to get a reaction but there was nothing not even a peep.

"Huh... interesting," he said before taking the time to admire this stunning bridal chamber. The room was awash in hues of crimson and gold, with richly embroidered tapestries on the walls. A massive bed, its canopy embellished with golden threads, stood as the centrepiece—a majestic stage for the union of two souls. Delicate silks cascaded down its sides, creating a mesmerizing cascade of colours.

A low table adorned with auspicious fruits, fragrant tea, and delicate pastries stood near the window, a symbol of fertility and prosperity. The soft glow of candlelight illuminated the room, casting a warm and intimate ambience. Best of all there was a jug of wine just waiting for him to drink.

Qie Xieling bit his lower lip before getting up and walking towards the table. He sat there for a while watching for the door. There was no movement for a very long time.

"It won’t hurt if I take a sip, right?" He whispered trying to convince himself that this was a very great idea. "Besides, it will help me loosen up a little and calm my nerves," he said to himself but just as he was about to pour out some Jolie suddenly yelled,

’Don’t drink it yet. We have an emergency.’

"Oh for fuck sake. Can’t a man enjoy a drink in peace," he whispered while putting the jar down.

"What is it?" he asked and Jolie explained that if he didn’t get his butt out there he might die just like the previous character.

"Here is the thing. The reason why your character got unalived is that that bitch Bi Yu waited for Luo Muchen to come up to the bridal chamber and then told him that his bride was fake and that it was all her parent’s doing. When Luo Muchen arrived at the bridal chamber there were no questions asked. One slash the ger was executed on that spot and that’s going to be you in the next thirty minutes so you better not be inebriated otherwise you are dead.’

"Shit," swore Qie Xieling as he got up on his feet. "Do you know where she is now?"

’Yep, hiding behind the bushes looking like a thief,’ replied Jolie and Qie Xieling had no choice but to remove his outer robe before grabbing one of Luo Muchen’s dark hooded robes. He removed his veil and pulled up the hood before opening the window.

"Why can’t she just let it go," he whispered before jumping out of the window. His hand suddenly slipped on the window sill and with a loud thud he crashed to the ground.

"Ugh fudg-," he exclaimed under his breath only for his voice to abruptly die down as he heard someone coming in their direction. There were two maidservants gossiping about the bride and how she was so tall. He also heard something about the young master becoming a man tonight. "... Xiao Fen didn’t get to the young master first. The way she was always yelling Young master this young master that. You would think she was the young master’s wife."

Qie Xieling, "..."

He sat up immediately the taste of vinegar intense in his throat. "Who the fuck is Xiao Fen," he said in a low voice before disappearing into the night.

Qie Xieling sprinted through the garden, his footsteps muffled by the soft grass beneath his feet. The moon cast an ethereal glow over the Lee mansion, while the distant sounds of laughter and music drifted on the evening breeze. The banquet was in full swing, and time was of the essence. If Luo Muchen wasn’t in the banquet it would mean that it would probably be too late.

He swiftly approached the mansion’s towering walls. Like a shadow, he effortlessly scaled the stone barrier and propelled himself upward. Soon, he found himself perched atop the roof and he could clearly see the entire banquet.

He soon spotted his groom standing among the guests who were congratulating him. For a person who had married someone he didn’t know he seemed quite happy. Luo Muchen on the other hand sensed something and looked up in his direction. Qie Xieling quickly ducked down his heart pounding in his chest. He lay flat on the roof face up looking at the big round moon.
