Saving the Heartthrob Frenemy-Chapter 450: Cherry red lips
AN: Please note Luo Muchen for the next three Chapters refers to Qie Xieling as a she because he doesn’t know yet that he married a man. Enjoy!
The air was thick with anticipation as the crowd watched in awe, their eyes fixed on the beautiful young bride. The Bi clan leader put on a front patting clan leader Lee’s shoulder. Madam Bi gripped his arm tightly and despite her disdain for him, she wore a facade of happiness, pretending to be genuinely delighted with her daughter’s union.
The atmosphere crackled with a mix of nervousness and excitement as Madam Bi led Qie Xieling toward the fire bow, a symbol believed to ward off bad luck. Qie Xieling could feel the heat radiating from the flames as he carefully stepped over the threshold. Though Madam Bi’s hold on his arm was painful Qie Xieling didn’t focus on it. That’s because he was nervously waiting to see Luo Muchen. His heart was racing and he had a stomach full of butterflies. He could barely see anything underneath that veil.
When he raised his head his breath was caught in his throat as he finally met Luo Muchen’s gaze. He stood tall and handsome looking at him his gaze so intense it made Qie Xieling’s knees weak.
He was dressed in a vibrant red wedding attire made of luxurious silk fabric with a long robe flowing down to his ankles. The long robe was intricately embroidered with red dragons both in the front and back bringing a sense of majesty and nobility to his appearance.
To complete his ensemble, he wore a long skirt layered beneath the long robe, adding elegance to the overall attire. The garment also had subtle dragon embroidery, subtly blending with the design of the main robe.
Luo Muchen’s hair was styled in a half-up hairdo, where some of his hair was pulled back and tied neatly at the crown of his head. To accentuate this hairstyle, he wore an intricately designed jade hairpin with a small dragon wrapping around it. He was undoubtedly dashing and regal making Qie Xieling’s Adam’s apple bob.
He regretted running away before. It was most definitely worth the sacrifice. He would gladly give birth to two, okay maybe one virtual baby just so he could call him husband.
Qie Xieling was led to stand beside Luo Muchen. He lowered his head having realised that in this world he had lost his height advantage by a few inches. Ahhh, he couldn’t stand the fact that he had to be the one looking up at Luo Muchen.
’Leong Jinn is an ass,’ he complained internally and Jolie acquiesced,
’Tell me about it. All this good food and I can’t eat it. *Sigh what a shame.’
Qie Xieling, ’....’
’Just go and find that sweaty man you were talking about. You can eat and then find another body later,’ he replied to her giving her a suggestion.
’You don’t know how disgusting he was. Ugh I am even nauseous just thinking about it
Before he died I saw him come out of the toilet and smell his fingers,’ she complained and Qie Xieling’s lips contorted.
’Oh for fuck sake. You are ruining this for me,’ he said. Because he was distracted by Jolie, he didn’t realise that someone was trying to hand him something to hold.
Luo Muchen noticed his bride was distracted and couldn’t help but wonder if she was busy thinking about her boyfriend. He looked around the crowd to see if there was anyone who remotely resembled the stature described by Bo Ailun or had a displeased expression.
He did find one person who fit that bill but he was... her brother, Bi Yize. He was staring at them with a disapproving gaze and his arms crossed like he didn’t want to be here. He was rumoured to be a well-mannered young master but it didn’t look like that at this moment.
Thinking he was just a brother disgruntled by his sister’s future husband he sneered as he turned back to his bride. He leaned down and whispered, "Wife... take it," in a deep, charming voice causing his knees to weaken. It was velvety and smooth, with a hint of huskiness that added a captivating allure.
The words flowed effortlessly with each syllable carefully enunciated, drawing Qie Xieling in with the power of seduction. The timbre of his voice was rich, enveloping his senses and inducing a tingling sensation as if a secret spell was being cast. His captivating voice could command attention and ignite desire, leaving him breathless and yearning for more. It wasn’t the first time he had been seduced by his voice but this time the feeling was so intense that he almost wanted to skip over to the bridal chamber and press him down on the bed.
Seeing that he had her attention Luo Muchen felt so satisfied. He glanced at Bi Yize and sure enough, his expression didn’t look so good. Qie Xieling glanced down at the ribbon the older woman was handing to him and accepted it. "Sorry," he whispered having realised he was distracted.
He held on to one end of the red satin flower ball ribbon while Luo Muchen grasped the other. The delicate ribbon symbolised their union, their lives intertwined from this moment forward. Luo Muchen finally stopped looking at him and Qie Xieling let go of his caught breath.
’I think I just fell in love all over again,’ he said and Jolie found it laughable. They could have been together a long time ago if one wasn’t dense and the other a coward.
As they stood side by side, Qie Xieling found it difficult to focus on the flurry of activity surrounding them. His attention was solely captivated by Luo Muchen’s enchanting presence. Even as they walked Qie Xieling couldn’t help but steal glances at Luo Muchen that he almost tripped twice.
The second time around Luo Muchen reached over to help her. When she stumbled his reflexes kicked in and he said, "Careful," as he reached out to steady her, his strong hands gently holding her arm. As she straightened herself, Luo Muchen’s eyes inadvertently caught a glimpse of a fraction of her face underneath her veil.
His breath hitched as his gaze fixated on her cherry-red lips, peeking out from beneath the delicate fabric. The soft lighting enhanced their allure, drawing him closer to the edge of temptation. Luo Muchen swallowed hard captivated by her charm.
Qie Xieling regained his composure and stepped aside freeing himself from Luo Muchen’s hold. He was afraid he would notice something was wrong and that his bride was not a woman at all.
He continued walking, unaware of the effect he had on Luo Muchen. As they approached the front, Luo Muchen averted his gaze only to meet Madam Lee’s annoyed gaze. She truly couldn’t hide her feelings and so couldn’t her daughter.
Surrounded by the hushed whispers of the gathered guests the wedding master shouted, "Bow to Heaven and Earth." Together, they bowed in reverence to the heavens, expressing their gratitude for the blessings bestowed upon them, and the earth, acknowledging their roots and the foundation upon which their love would grow.
Next, they bowed to their parents, honouring the sacrifices made and seeking their support for this sacred union. The four parents put on smiles each with their own ulterior motives.
Finally, Qie Xieling and Luo Muchen turned to face each other, their eyes meeting through the sheer veil that covered Qie Xieling’s face. Luo Muchen’s lips curved into a gentle yet mischievous smile making Qie Xieling’s heart jolt. He suddenly feared that this man wouldn’t let him go tonight.
After the ceremony the feast began and Qie Xieling was led away while his groom was entertaining the guests. He couldn’t help but wail internally seeing all those interesting-looking meals he couldn’t eat. There was lobster, and squid among others and he couldn’t even have one bite despite being the bride. ’Isn’t this abuse? Why can’t I have a jar of wine too? Damn, that lobster looks good. Jolie, I am suffering,’ he cried out and Jolie could only drool while crying,
’Me too. We are both suffering.’
He was led to the bridal chamber by his new mother-in-law’s maidservant and a couple of other maidservants. To his surprise, Luo Muchen’s courtyard was far from the main house. It was all the way up a hill and a little isolated. As they walked into the courtyard with the guide of lanterns lighting their path, someone suddenly joined them. "Sister in law, I couldn’t help but come and personally see you and welcome you to the family," said Lee Ya with malice dripping in her voice.
Qie Xieling had a lot of words to say to her but he was afraid he would expose himself. When she didn’t respond Lee Ya leaned down to see her face but Qie Xieling looked away.
"You think you can bring your princess attitude from the Bi clan over here ha! If I were you I would run away immediately. Your so-called husband is a vile heartless bastard and as his wife you will be treated accordingly," she continued to say as they entered the bridal chamber.
Qie Xieling set on the bed while clenching his fist away from their view. He was finding it very hard to restrain his anger.
