Saintess? Not Anymore! I'd Rather be a Destroyer-Chapter 80 - 67: Carol is Back
______
The rhythm of Aurianna’s heart intensified, the sound of its thump echoing through her chest, as she and Leila stood defiantly before the towering entity. Though it resembled a void Reaver, this one exceeded all expectations, stretching over six hundred feet tall and bristling with malevolent spikes that emitted a pulsating, sickly violet glow.
Despite their valiant efforts, Aurianna and Leila bore the marks of a harrowing battle, their bodies mangled and marred by countless cuts and bruises. In stark contrast, the entity before them appeared unscathed, its wrathful gaze bearing down upon them with a chilling intensity.

"Despite her large size, she sure is fast," observed Leila, to which Aurianna concurred with a silent nod.
’I kinda regret provoking her now?’ Regret gnawed at Aurianna’s core as she recalled the events that led to their perilous predicament. When she and Leila infiltrated into the core of the Void Reavers the duo relentlessly destroyed all the eggs, killed and devoured the stronger Void Reavers protecting the area.
Unfortunately, they didn’t notice the danger that lurked in the shadows, a danger that arose from the agonizing wails of a newborn Void Reaver. In a flash, a colossal entity sprang forth from the depths of a dark pit and attacked them with blinding speed, too swift even for their trained reflexes.
Now in the current timeline.
"Trespassers I do not care if you’re in relation with Eva because soon your revival time would run out," sneered the beast, grinning maniacally as she flexed her scythe-like fingers. Her emerald eyes glinted with an insectile menace as she towered over them.
"What the hell do you mean?" Aurianna questioned cautiously, her fingers clenched tightly around a sleek bazooka as she surveyed her surroundings.
The Void Reaver Queen grinned wickedly as she circled around them, her every step oozing with arrogance and malevolence, "I’ve noticed we’ve been fighting for a few years without rest, but do you think as long as you’re in this domain you’re immortal?"
The Queen sneered, her voice dripping with disdain, "Eva just placed a time rewind magic on you, her spell may grant you an accelerated revival, however, it is also your weakness!"
Aurianna’s patience wore thin at the Queen’s taunts, "Enough yapping, let’s fight!!" she bellowed in defiance before unleashing a white-hot beam of destruction from her bazooka, obliterating the Queen in a colossal explosion. But the triumph was short-lived as the Queen materialized before her in a flash, her movements too swift for Aurianna’s senses to discern. In an instant, the Queen sliced Aurianna’s body to ribbons, reducing her to a heap of quivering flesh. 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂
’She’s faster! In less than a second, she took Aurianna out. This is bad,’ Leila thought nervously, and her body underwent a transformation, taking on the form of a majestic white dragon. With a mighty roar, Leila sunk her teeth into the Queen’s impenetrable exoskeleton, only to have them shattered upon contact. The Queen of the Void Reavers glared at Leila with an insatiable hunger, her jaws widening to swallow the dragon whole. In a brutal flash, the Queen decapitated Leila by biting off her neck, her severed head rolling to a stop at the Queen’s feet before turning into white light.
The Void Reaver Queen cackled wickedly as Aurianna and Leila charged towards her. "How impatient you two are," she taunted, "What do you think would happen if you die faster than the magic can revive you?!!" she growled causing the ground to shake beneath their feet.
"Aurianna," Leila called out to Aurianna who was next to her.
"Yes Leila?"
"She’s right." Leila looked up at the Void Reaver Queen nervously. "I feel the revival time is getting slower, same goes for our healing time."
"You’re right, I thought we could use her to strengthen our skills, but it seems we don’t have much time on our side," Aurianna’s lips curled and so did Leila as they dashed towards the Void Reaver Queen . "Did you notice that I made a pun, we’re talking about less time?"
"Yes, yes, I get it, let’s try because we’ll never know if we can defeat her unless we try," Leila encouraged.
"I don’t want to lose," Aurianna blurted out and gnashed her teeth until they bled, ’I feel so frustrated that I can’t beat her!!’ she jumped high in the sky and her guns were immediately placed with two twin blades.
"Phantasma and Babylonia!!" Aurianna yelled out loud and landed on the Void Reaver Queen’s shoulder and slashed repeatedly with her blades, but none of her attacks seemed to have any effect. Frustrated, she jumped away.
"This boring skill again?" the Void Reaver Queen said dully as she looked up at the sky to see a white space opened up and ten large hands, each wielding a different type of gun fired at the Void Reaver Queen relentlessly, causing massive explosions before disappearing.
"Leila your turn!" Aurianna yelled as the guns floating around her left her and followed Leila who charged to the Void Reaver Queen and slashed her large broad sword at the Void Reaver Queen as the clothe around her eyes got burnt off by her flaming hair. The Void Reaver Queen caught Leila’s broadsword and crushed it into dust before grabbing Leila, but before she could crush Leila to death, her body got caught up in a flame, but she didn’t seem affected in the slightest.
"Shit the chaos flame doesn’t work on her," Leila cursed out loud before she was crushed to death. Steam then came out of the Void Reaver Queen’s body, and the white flame around her disappeared.
"Chi, chi, chi, to think her speed and reaction is beyond what we can handle," Aurianna laughed maniacally.
"Aurianna are you fine?" Leila asked calmly, and Aurianna looked at her with a smile, "I’m quite shocked you can be so calm with our current situation."
"I’m not, I just can’t afford my heart to waver because once it does my fighting patterns and attack output would reduce highly. However, you tend to have a more higher output the more unstable your thinking is," Leila concluded and Aurianna looked at her a bit surprised.
"That’s what you think, but I’m so mad. I can’t even see her damn level!! What the hell is she?!" Aurianna asked angrily and before she and Leila realized it, the Void Reaver Queen was before them, her hand raised high, and her nails became longer.
"You guys seem to be having fun without me," Aurianna heard a familiar voice and looked up to see a being about the size of an average human flying before the Void Reaver Queen, who immediately jumped a few meters back and trembled in fear. A slight chill ran down their spines as they felt a dark energy emanating from the being, causing the air around them to grow heavy and thick.
The gray skinned being had long black wings on her back and bird like legs. The place where her eyes were replaced with two black horns, and her hair looked unkept and messy.
The Void Reaver Queen, who moments ago had been poised to strike, now cowered before the newcomer. "Why are... you in...my territory, Carol?" she stammered as she glared at Carol.
The dark figure let out a menacing chuckle, the sound echoing in the vast emptiness around them. The Void Reaver Queen trembled at the sound, feeling the shivers run down her spine, "And why can’t I be here?" the figure spoke in a low, menacing tone. "You attacked my students, and as their dear teacher, I have come to their aid." Carol appeared in a flash, right before the Void Reaver Queen.
"You dare attack me, Carol? You know that we, the top fifty rulers of this domain, are forbidden from attacking each other. If you kill me, the others will come after you!" The Void Reaver Queen yelled nervously, trying to reason with Carol. She grinned when she noticed Carol wasn’t attacking her and straightened herself.
"Now if you can excuse me, I have an unfinished business with those girls," the Void Reaver Queen said in a mocking tone and Carol smirked.
Carol merely smirked at her. "I never said you could leave, insect," she spoke coldly, her smile twisted and creepy. The Void Reaver Queen found herself frozen, unable to move at Carol’s command.
’Why can’t I move?!!’ the Void Reaver Queen trembled at the thought.
"You biiittcchhh!!" The Void Reaver Queen yelled in anger, unleashing massive beams of green light from her back at Carol, causing explosions that made even Aurianna’s seem insignificant.
Leila and Aurianna dashed away from the explosions as they watched the two monsters battle with each other.
"Poor, poor, insect," Carol’s voice could be heard through the clearing smoke. "It’s a pity you got on Eva’s death list. So, even if I kill you, no one isn’t going to care! So, now die."
Carol’s words were cold, and the Void Reaver Queen’s heart stopped beating.
Sweat dripped down her face as she reached out her claws at Carol, but before she could reach Carol she slumped on the ground dead.
The Death Harpy appeared before the girls, whining like a child. "You’re so mean, leaving poor me alone," she complained to Carol. Aurianna trembled slightly in fear, while Leila readied her spear.
"Calm down, I know her," Aurianna reassured Leila, placing her arm in front of her to stop her from attacking.
"I also know her," Leila revealed, and Aurianna blushed a bit embarrassed.
"Oh, I remember you, Aurianna’s twin, right?" Carol appeared before Leila with a smile with revealed her row of pointed teeth.
"You guys know each other," Aurianna asked confused, as she looked at Leila then and Carol with a dumb expression.
"Unfortunately yes, a very annoying Death Harpy," Leila said as veins popped up on her face and Carol grinned.
"You shouldn’t be so rude. Without me, you wouldn’t have been able to defeat the Void Reaver Queen," Carol interjected.
"There was no need for you to kill her, me and Aurianna could have tempered our bodies and skills by dying and coming back to life," Leila frowned at Carol.
"Tempering skills, yes, but body no. It doesn’t work like that. You guys were too weak to defeat her anyway," Carol replied, her words making Aurianna grip her palms until they bled.
’I know I’m weak, that’s why I want to grow stronger. Stronger than anyone else,’ Aurianna thought, her voice echoing in the depths of her mind. ’If this so-called Iris can reach the level of that of a god, then so can I!!’ Her determination burned within her like a white flame, fueled by her desire for power.
Leila smiled as if she could hear Aurianna’s words, marveling at the young woman’s ambition. "It’s hard to believe someone could achieve such power at just 25 years old," she mused.
Aurianna’s thoughts shifted to their current situation. "Carol, why not beat the monsters to near death, and we land the finishing blow?" she asked, her voice filled with curiosity.
But Carol’s contemptuous look cut through her like a blade. "What kind of stupid request is that?" she retorted.
Aurianna felt her nerves fray as Carol berated her question. "You won’t grow stronger if I did that. What’s more you won’t get enough exp, and you’ll also lose your fighting skills. I call that lazy fighting. The fact that you have a strong person to support you doesn’t mean you have to rely on them for every situation," Carol scolded. "Lazy fighting won’t make you strong. You need to fight on your own and hone your skills." Carol berated with her arms crossed and Aurianna reluctantly nodded.
Leila chimed in, her white and blue eyes fixed on Aurianna. "I agree. It’s better to grow stronger and fight together."
Aurianna couldn’t help but notice that the strange effect Leila’s eyes usually had on her wasn’t working. "I wonder why I’m not burning up, despite looking at you?" she blurted out and Leila perked up at the sudden realization.
"Maybe you got an immunity to my skill?" Leila suggested and Aurianna shook her head.
"I highly doubt that."
"Or am I getting better at controlling my eyes?" Leila muttered proudly.
"Probably, I don’t know. But it’s still a good thing," Aurianna shrugged.
"Now then..." Carol interrupted their conversation, "You two should eat the Void Reaver Queen heart," she beamed as she held in her hands eight horrible looking hearts that were as small as a fist.
Aurianna felt a wave of disgust wash over her at the sight of the grotesque organs. "How can such a big monster have such a tiny heart?" She asked.
"I compressed it." Carol replied.
"Do we really need to eat it, it looks quite revolting compared to the others?" Leila said in disgust, her two hands over her mouth.
"If you want to grow stronger," Carol said, and Aurianna and Leila looked at each other before sighing together, "Fine."
Aurianna picked up the heart and the taste almost made her gag, but she forcefully gulped down the four hearts given to her and tried her best not to chew it.
After they were done eating the hearts, Aurianna and Leila felt a horrible pain run through their bodies. They writhed on the ground, dying and reviving again and again, their bodies continuously being racked with agony.
Carol watched over them, her eyes fixed on the countdown clock on the tablet screen. Two weeks until their next battle, until they could test their newfound strength.
________
Aurianna rose to her feet, her eyes burning with a fierce determination. Her skin was a testament to the transformation, glowing with an otherworldly light purple glow that soon disappeared.
"I feel a bit better," Aurianna mumbled lightly.
"I think our bodies fused with those hearts," Leila said as she watched her own skin now showing a faint purple light that soon disappeared.
"Yes, but the consequence was unbearable pain and death, I don’t think I could have survived if I wasn’t here," Aurianna replied and touched her chest.
Leila and Aurianna then turned to see Carol, who was sleeping soundly whiles sitting.
"Was she watching us, while we were going through that?" Aurianna asked curiously, a bit surprised by Carol’s behavior and Leila nodded. As they stood there, Aurianna could not help but wonder if Carol was truly watching over them during their ordeal. Had she truly been protecting them, or was there some other motive at work?
"Tch, even if she protected us while we were going through that, I’m not going to forgive her anytime soon," Aurianna pouted and a hand patted her on the head.
"Aww, I never knew you liked me so much!!" Carol squealed.
"Scram!" Aurianna lashed out, smacking away Carol’s hand off her head.
But Carol, ever the jester, seemed unfazed by Aurianna’s fury. She smiled, "You should eat the heart of beings you kill, it’s very helpful," Carol advised.
"I see," Aurianna nodded thoughtfully.
"Now you’re done, you can leave, shoo, shoo," Aurianna pushed Carol away and angrily hissed at her.
’Cat?’ Leila thought as she stared at her angry sister behind her.
"Awe Aurianna why are you so mad at me?" Carol asked, and her horns retracted into her eyes and were replaced with a pair of beautiful black eyeballs.
"Did you forget what you did??!" Aurianna growled.
"What I did?" Carol asked innocently.
"Don’t act innocent!" Aurianna pointed at her.
"I really don’t know what you mean."
"The time you ate me, remember?!"
Carol’s widened, and she thoughtfully placed her hand on her chin, "Ohh that, well, I was just testing out something, but no worries you’re perfectly fine now."
"Testing my ass!! You caused me to be traumatized!!" Aurianna fumed, her face was red.
’Tomato?’ Leila thought as she stared at her sister’s red face.
