Rotting Land: Survive-Chapter 493 - 488: Old Fox (Part 1)
The battle outside the factory continued, with the remaining zombies starting to approach the survivors standing outside the vehicle.
Such a scale of the zombie horde was nothing significant for Xu Renjie, Wei Dazhuang, and the others who had seen big scenes.
But for Liu Yunpeng and Li Huiru, it truly almost scared them out of their wits.
So much so that Liu Yunpeng kept loudly urging the people inside the factory: "Hey! What are you all doing! Hurry up and open the door to let me in! Dad! Where are you! Tell them to open the door!"
Tang Xiaoquan watched all this indifferently, knowing that opening the door was by no means easy. However, considering the zombies around weren’t that many at the moment, his side could still manage.
Plus, with Liu Yunpeng still inside the vehicle, there was no immediate worry about his safety.
On the contrary, Liu Fugui’s attitude made Tang Xiaoquan curious. One must know that this great father had previously expressed deep concern and care for his son during radio communication.
But now, his son was outside the factory and in danger, yet he not only didn’t arrange to send personnel for rescue, even his shadow was nowhere to be seen.
This could not help but make Tang Xiaoquan question Liu Fugui’s character greatly.
Just as Tang Xiaoquan was full of suspicion, a voice was heard again from the factory wall: "Alright! Alright! Young master, come over now!"
So that’s how it is! Following the direction of the voice, Tang Xiaoquan saw a wooden ladder being laid down from the wall.
He hurriedly waved at the still frightened Liu Yunpeng in the car, signaling for him to get out and climb the ladder.
Though Liu Yunpeng hesitated a little because the sound of zombie howls outside the car terrified him.
Finally, seeing Liu Yunpeng remain unmoved for a while, Xu Renjie couldn’t stand it anymore. Holding the hunting crossbow with one hand, he took quick steps to the urban management vehicle, pulled open the door, and sternly ordered: "Get out if you don’t want to die!"
Feeling as though he found a backbone, this time Liu Yunpeng didn’t complain. He obediently followed Xu Renjie’s instructions, got out of the car, and quickly followed close behind the latter, arriving at the wooden ladder laid down at the wall.
"Old Xu, you go up first! Test the ladder to prevent it from collapsing and harming Liu Yunpeng!"
Tang Xiaoquan raised his hand to stop Liu Yunpeng, who was about to climb the ladder. The latter was momentarily stunned, but after hearing Tang Xiaoquan’s full sentence, he immediately discarded the idea of rebutting.
The reason was simple. Operating on the principle of life above all, Liu Yunpeng needed Xu Renjie to test the stability of the wooden ladder for him. 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂
Xu Renjie was also momentarily stunned, obviously not understanding the young man’s intention.
But after seeing Tang Xiaoquan give a subtle but strange wink, he immediately stepped onto the ladder without a word.
So what exactly was Tang Xiaoquan trying to do? Was he really worried about Liu Yunpeng’s safety?
The answer was obviously no! With Tang Xiaoquan’s pragmatic character, he wouldn’t care about the life or death of an outsider.
He had two primary goals in mind for doing this:
First, to show those inside the factory that their group was taking meticulous care of Liu Yunpeng. Tang Xiaoquan hoped this would be leverage for negotiating supplies later.
Second, it was out of precaution. Liu Fugui’s avoidance left Tang Xiaoquan somewhat uneasy.
He didn’t want his group to go through all this trouble only to be stabbed in the back by the other side.
So sending Old Xu in, at least with his 92-style pistol and crossbow, could secure the situation and ensure that the other side couldn’t withdraw the wooden ladder.
Once Old Xu was over the wall, he immediately called for Liu Yunpeng to make a move, while Hu Xiaodong and Wei Dazhuang, who were on guard duty, gradually tightened the circle of defense.
Finally, leading Li Huiru, they sequentially entered the factory.
"What are you all doing! Don’t you know there are zombies outside! Yet, you still made me climb the wooden ladder! What do you mean by this! Why didn’t you open the door!"
With a stern face and hands on his hips, Liu Yunpeng, now inside the wall, shed his previous timid appearance and fiercely scolded the raggedly dressed workers in front of him.
Watching this, veins pulsed on Xu Renjie’s forehead as he made a move to step forward and stop it, only to have a hand subtly pull at his collar, and a low voice came from behind: "Old Xu, let’s see how it plays out!"
The speaker was naturally Tang Xiaoquan. Although he too disliked Liu Yunpeng’s bullying attitude, considering the bigger picture here, it was not wise for them to take the lead.
Old Xu was not an impulsive person, so he immediately understood the young man’s meaning, and relaxed his pose, coldly watching Liu Yunpeng’s bullying antics.
"Young master!" Suddenly, a raspy voice came from within the crowd.
Tang Xiaoquan looked over, seeing a lean man walking over from a distance.
The man looked to be around 27-28 years old, of medium height, with distinctive sideburns on a chiseled face adding a bit of character.
The man with the mustache walked towards Liu Yunpeng unhurriedly, saying as he walked, "Young master, please excuse us! We had no choice but to do this; you must have seen the situation in the factory previously. If I opened the door rashly, it would take too long and be too risky, so we could only use a wooden ladder to rescue you."
"Nonsense! I think you just want to get me killed!" Liu Yunpeng completely ignored the mustached man’s explanation, speaking as if determined to say something shocking or die trying.
Yet the man with the mustache showed remarkable restraint, he didn’t show concern for Liu Yunpeng’s rash words, but respectfully bowed and apologized, "The young master’s criticism is right; it was my inadequacy in handling things. I hope the young master can forgive me."
After saying this, Huang Yong slowly straightened his body and with a calm smile said, "Young master, Mr. Liu is waiting upstairs for you, should you go up first?"
Perhaps it was the other’s humble attitude that made Liu Yunpeng enjoy it greatly; he stopped his "unreasonable" reprimand, and with a cold snort, under the guidance of an aide, stepped towards the inner part of the factory.
Seeing Liu Yunpeng leave, Li Huiru quickly followed, but as she passed by Huang Yong, a large hand blocked her way: "What are you doing?"
"I... I’m looking for my husband!" Li Huiru rolled her eyes. Holding the protective talisman of Liu Yunpeng, although she was a bit afraid of the man in front of her, she still felt a bit braver.
To this, Huang Yong coldly glanced at the woman before him. He knew this woman must be the young master’s new fling.
So to avoid causing trouble for himself, he didn’t say much, lowered his arm, and made a gesture for her to ’hurry along’, leaving it at that.
Seeing this, Wang Qiang and the others naturally "refused to fall behind," hastily moving their steps to follow Li Huiru closely.
Though they hadn’t made it 2 meters, Huang Yong’s sharp shout suddenly echoed: "Where do you people think you’re going!!"
