Rotting Land: Survive-Chapter 492 - 487: Fireworks Feast (Part 3)
"Bang bang, pop pop!"
The massive fireworks soared into the sky like dragons, bursting in the air into vivid colors, dazzlingly beautiful. In an instant, they fell like scattered petals, breathtakingly mesmerizing.
Compared to the brilliant spectacle in the sky, the thunderous booming sound was heart-stopping.
The survivors gathered around the house all covered their ears to lessen the pain brought by the vibrations in their eardrums.
At this moment, the earth seemed to vibrate wave after wave amid the tightly packed explosions.
It felt as if this place was experiencing a small-scale war, with the attacking sides madly bombarding it with shells, clearly showcasing the mighty power of the exploding "fireworks."
This was precisely the intended effect. Tang Xiaoquan, crouched on the rooftop, was very satisfied with the trembling earth and thundering roar; he was confident that soon enough, the zombies gathered at the factory entrance would be drawn by the "fireworks" blooming in the south.
And that would be the moment for them to act.
Perhaps seeing his method working, Tang Xiaoquan couldn’t help but think of Wei Yang, feeling a bit regretful that the latter couldn’t witness such a beautiful scene.
But just as he was "wandering" into a reverie of the beauty nestled in his arms, enjoying the fireworks with him together, a rough big hand discreetly rested on his shoulder.
Soon Old Xu’s deep voice became clearer: "Xiao Tang! Xiao Tang! Look over there! The zombies are moving!!"
Upon hearing this, Tang Xiaoquan dared not delay, instantly pushed away the thoughts of men and women, and raised the binoculars to his eyes.
Indeed, dozens of "Runners" were racing eagerly towards the fireworks site; these advanced zombies adapted to the viral infection moved incredibly fast and showed even more agility under the stimulation of their innate bloodthirsty desire.
"Zombies have emerged from the ’hole’, stay safe, over!"
"What?" Due to the deafening sound of firecrackers, Hu Xiaodong downstairs couldn’t understand the voice through the hand-held radio.
In response, Xu Renjie abandoned the communication through the hand-held radio, instead crawling backward slowly.
Though he was over several hundred meters in a straight line from the factory, he was still cautious, fearing that any rash movement might alert the nearby creatures, thus exposing their target.
Gazing at the house corner near the eaves, Old Xu slowly peeked his head out, then waved at Hu Xiaodong and Wei Dazhuang downstairs, signaling them to get in the car.
In response, Hu Wei showed no hesitation, collected their weapons, and boarded the vehicle individually.
And Hu Xiaodong, too, started the engine immediately after boarding.
Tang Xiaoquan was still crouched on the rooftop, observing the zombies’ actions closely; meanwhile, during Old Xu’s order, a score of "Runners" had already charged to the firecracker explosion site.
These brainless creatures were now gathered around the explosion site, seemingly enthralled by the continuous bursts and soaring fireworks.
This made Tang Xiaoquan curious; could these zombies truly understand the power of "explosions"?
But soon the zombies dispelled Tang Xiaoquan’s doubts with their actual actions.
A few "Runners," after waiting for about ten seconds without finding prey, impatiently shuffled into the pile of firecrackers.
Instantly, the scattered fiery explosions hit them, tearing their clothes almost immediately ignited; under normal circumstances, anyone facing this terrifying situation would instinctively run away.
Yet, the creatures charging into the "release site" showed no expression of pain, rather moving back and forth within the site, eagerly seeking the so-called "prey."
Perhaps influenced by them, more zombies began joining the "HAPPY" crowd, each taking step by step, exceptionally "joyous," to enjoy the "firework feast" laid out by the survivors.
A bunch of lunatics! Once ensured most zombies were drawn inside the factory’s outer wall, Tang Xiaoquan felt the moment had arrived, promptly put down the binoculars, and said to Xu Renjie beside him:
"Old Xu, let’s go! We can break through!"
"Alright!"
Two minutes later, the ready survivors sat nervously inside the urban management vehicle, with Hu Xiaodong shouting "Hold tight," the vehicle moved in sync.
In the distance, the "cannon sounds" persisted, the scattering fireworks painted the entire sky bright red.
However, at this moment, none of the survivors inside the urban management vehicle had the mood to admire these; the vehicle was racing full throttle towards the circular turntable.
Upon nearing the exit of the turntable, Xu Renjie decisively stomped on the brake, then steered the wheel, executing a beautiful tail drift, heading towards the factory’s rightmost direction.
On the roadway, still many trailing zombies, they staggered around, shaking their heads. As the urban management vehicle swept past, they all waved, expressing their concern.
The urban management vehicle sped rapidly, Xu Renjie’s nerves were fully tight, his eyes unwaveringly fixed on the road ahead.
When possible, he dodged; when not, he simply crashed through.
After an exhilarating speed ride, the survivors finally reached their destination successfully.
"Phew!" After reaching, Xu Renjie exhaled, but he dared not relax as creatures still roamed around the warehouse.
Until safely entering the factory, anything could happen.
"Everyone disembark, be alert, Liu Yunpeng, quickly call your dad to open the door!"
Orders swiftly distributed individually, Liu Yunpeng also promptly rolled down the car window to shout into the factory: 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝚠𝚎𝚋𝗻𝗼𝕧𝗲𝐥.𝚌𝚘𝐦
"Dad, it’s Yunpeng! Hurry up, open the door, call someone to let us in!"
Shortly, a dark silhouette poked its head from inside the wall, then the person said: "Young master, don’t be anxious! I’ll let you in now!"
Hu Xiaodong was not using arrows to kill approaching zombies, while Tang Xiaoquan closely observed the factory’s inner movements.
Through observation, he found no wonder this warehouse managed to hold for so long; usually, factory gates were aluminum electric control sliding doors, useless against zombie pile and crash.
But although Liu Fugui’s factory also had weak electric control sliding doors, behind it was a row of small forklift trucks for transporting goods, and not only that, parked behind were trucks, cars, looking around, at least three layers thick, such a sturdy defense probably couldn’t be shaken even with twice as many converged zombies.
But every advantage comes with its drawback, at least before this solid steel door, Tang Xiaoquan felt a bit stumped.
After all, while the door definitely blocked zombie attacks superbly, the issue was, if zombies couldn’t enter, then it wasn’t easy for their group to get in either!
So, what should be done now? (To be continued. If you like this work, welcome to come to Qidian (qidian.com) to cast recommendation votes, monthly tickets, your support is my biggest motivation. Mobile users please read at m.qidian.com.)
