Chapter 90: Unjust Treatment (2)

"Is that young girl really his mother? What a promiscuous girl at such a young age! No wonder her child is unruly, just like her!"

Adrienne knelt and wiped Noah’s tears from his face. She forced a smile on her face as she promised to take him away.

"Why don’t you go first to your Aunt Bea and let Sister Addie deal with them? I need to have a good talk with these old aunts."

The two women beside them gasped upon hearing how Adrienne regarded them. They certainly weren’t that old yet, so they felt offended. Obviously, these two were close to each other and were harboring ill thoughts toward Noah.

Noah ran and held onto Beatrice while Adrienne removed her long coat and handed it to Hunter. She then removed her shoes and pulled up her sleeves. She then glanced at Beatrice and said, "Cover Noah’s ears for me, please. I don’t want him to hear what I will do with these women."

Beatrice could only watch in horror as Adrienne grabbed the unit owner’s long hair and pushed her inside the room where Noah was locked in earlier. She then slapped the other woman hard before pushing her inside too. The door slammed hard behind Adrienne, and more slapping and breaking things could be heard inside the room.

The parents and guardians in the living area were forced to cover their children’s ears as more cries resounded from the room. None of them expected the young girl to dare to do such a thing in front of everyone. Who knew such a devil was hiding beneath that beautiful face of hers? Wasn’t she worried about the consequences of her actions?

Beatrice covered Noah’s ears, too but flinched whenever she heard something break inside the room. Hunter remained calm beside her and patiently waited for his miss to vent her anger on these vicious women. He was also upset about how they treated Noah Qin, but knew he could not meddle in Adrienne’s affair too much. If it were him, he would be helpless as he wouldn’t know how to deal with this kind of person.

No one knew how long the beating happened, but the parents pulled their children away in fear when Adrienne stepped out of the room unscathed. She sighed and turned her right wrist, and casually commented. "I have never beaten up such shameless people in my life before. However, today, these kind-hearted old aunts have broadened my views. I realize now that you can still be heartless to another child despite having one. My hand really hurts, slapping them to my heart’s content."

Adrienne instilled fear in those who heard her words. She smiled and then turned her attention to the other adults who feigned ignorance of Noah’s plight earlier. She didn’t feel an ounce of pity for these people who were willing to turn a blind eye when bullying was happening right in front of them.

"Earlier, someone slandered me without bothering to confirm the facts. Is this what boring housewives do in their free time? Slander someone they barely know? Noah calls me his mommy, but I’m actually his sister-in-law. Are you afraid your children might pick up and learn something from Noah? But shouldn’t you be more cautious of what you say in front of your child? Who knows that after hearing your careless remarks, they might also offend someone they cannot afford to."

One of the two women came out of the room, revealing her swollen face and busted lip. She pointed a trembling finger at Adrienne.

"You... I won’t let you off!" She yelled at Adrienne.

Adrienne looked over her shoulder and gave the other woman a menacing look, enough to make her knees tremble, and she fell on the cold floor.

"You can try, but I assure you, the Qin family will utilize all our avenues to sue you for kidnapping Noah Qin, illegal detention, and child abuse. I will use all methods to destroy you and your husband’s careers, leaving you with nothing to your name. You want to sue me for assault? Go ahead! Let’s see who would run out of money in the end, but I assure you, that wouldn’t be me!"

"You... you..." The woman could only pass out from anger.

Adrienne didn’t waste another word with them and picked up Noah from the ground. She hoped the child didn’t hear the abhorrent thing she’d done to those ladies. The last thing she wanted to happen was for him to fear her.

"Mommy, are you done now? Are we going home now?" Noah asked curiously, much to Adrienne’s relief.

"Yes, Noah. Also, didn’t I tell you I’m not your mommy? What would people say if they heard you calling a young girl mommy? Sister Addie would be troubled like this."

Hunter led them away from the apartment and opened the door for them. He wasn’t sure what would happen later, but considering Adrienne had exerted her effort to teach those women a lesson, she would surely take responsibility for her actions.

"You’re Sister Addie?" Noah repeated as he looked up to Adrienne’s beautiful face. "But I thought the prettiest woman was my mommy."

Adrienne laughed at that. She patted Noah’s head and was relieved he wasn’t bothered by what had happened earlier.

"Is that why you keep calling me mommy? What will happen if you meet a more beautiful woman than Sister Addie?"

Noah pouted his chubby cheeks. "Sister Addie is the prettiest!"

Noah had already dozed off in Adrienne’s arms when they arrived at Beatrice’s apartment.

"I’ve inconvenienced Miss Jiang today. I’m really sorry for what happened." Beatrice lowered her head in shame as she apologized to Adrienne.

"What are you saying, Miss Qiu? None of us expected something like this would happen. I’ll report everything that transpired today without omission to Lennox. Since Noah is being treated like this, it would be better if we could transfer him to a better school near Jinxiu Garden." Adrienne looked at the sleeping child in her arms. She never wanted Noah to go through that traumatic experience again.
