Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 89: Unjust Treatment (1)
However, Adrienne was proven wrong three days later when she and Hunter returned to Jinling City to see Noah Qin for the second time. They found Beatrice Qiu arguing with the homeroom teacher because a parent of his classmate had taken Noah away for a birthday celebration. Adrienne stared at the homeroom teacher incredulously. How could they allow a stranger to take Noah Qin away without Miss Qiu’s permission?
"Why did you allow Noah to be taken away? I specifically told you to inform me first if anything was to happen to Noah!" Beatrice had a long day at work and hadn’t been able to pick up Noah on time. If she knew something like this would happen, she should have called Adrienne to check on Noah.
"May we have the address of his classmate? Noah must have been waiting for Miss Qiu to show up. Next time, please give us a call before deciding on anything related to Noah. Who knows what could happen to the child while he’s unattended." Adrienne commented. She was smiling, yet, it didn’t quite reach her seemingly bottomless eyes. Those who could see her right now could feel inexplicably chill running down their spines as they looked at her.
The homeroom teacher had no choice but to hand over the address of Noah’s classmate to Beatrice. Hunter drove them to an expensive apartment complex in Jinling City. Beatrice waited in the lobby impatiently as they needed the unit owner’s permission to let them in. Once permitted to go up, Adrienne didn’t waste time and stepped into the elevator with Hunter and Beatrice, who were following closely behind her. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Hunter glanced at Adrienne’s reflection in the mirror before them, sensing her simmering rage. He’d never seen her this angry and never expected an innocent child could evoke such an emotion from Adrienne. It seemed as though someone was eager to start their journey to hell and had indirectly offended the wrong person today.
Once the elevator door opened, Adrienne didn’t waste time and charged straight to the unit where Noah was. She gave three steady knocks and waited impatiently for someone to open the door. A woman in her early thirties opened the door and smiled at them.
Adrienne moved past her and walked to the living area where the children were playing, their guardians keeping an eye on them. She couldn’t see Noah anywhere and questioned the owner.
"Noah Qin was invited and brought here to celebrate his classmate’s birthday. How come I don’t see him anywhere?"
However, even before the mistress of the house could answer Adrienne, they all heard a loud wailing of a child coming from one of the closed rooms. Adrienne and Beatrice shared a knowing look before Adrienne went to the room, attempted to open it, and failed. She then glared furiously at the woman before her.
"Open the door. Now!" She demanded.
Another woman came and handed the keys to the owner. They had a look of mockery on their faces as they regarded Adrienne, who was considerably younger than them. When the door opened, Noah Qin’s tear-stricken face was revealed to everyone. He rushed and hugged Adrienne’s leg as soon as he saw her.
"What are you doing inside, Noah? Why are you on your own?" Adrienne asked the child worriedly.
How could a four-year-old child be left alone in an unfamiliar place like this? The apartment unit wasn’t that large. It was a three-bedroom unit with a massive kitchen and living area. It was obvious that the owner of this place had some money to live in such a grand place.
"Mommy! Mommy! I’m so scared! Wuuu... I accidentally locked myself inside while looking around. I’ve been crying and knocking on the door, but no one came to help me..."
Adrienne saw red at that moment. She knew that the child was different from the rest of his peers, yet she never thought adults would treat him unjustly. He was just a child, trying to understand the world around him. How could they bear to celebrate outside, knowing Noah was trapped alone here?
She looked at Noah, who was still trembling in fear before her. She couldn’t imagine the boy’s fear of being excluded by everyone. These women were so vicious towards an innocent child, who posed no harm nor threat to them.
"Mommy, I’m scared. Can we go home now? I don’t wanna stay here anymore..." Noah continued to cry, leaving Beatrice and Hunter feeling resentment for the boy, yet had no way to vent.
"Noah, I told you to stay put with the rest of your classmates. How could I possibly know you had locked yourself here?" The owner of the house said with feigned concern.
"With how loud the rest of the guests were, we didn’t notice you were missing. Miss, this was all a misunderstanding and an accident." Her companion chimed in, and there was a hint of mockery in her eyes as she looked at Noah Qin.
Couldn’t hear the child’s crying? Were they deaf or just good at pretending that a child was excluded from their celebration? Adrienne’s rage continued to rise as she listened to their nonsense. There were a couple of adults here, yet no one came to stand up for Noah.
Someone from the living area commented. "Clearly, the boy has special needs. It’s a wonder why they allowed him to interact with the rest of the children. What if they learn something odd from him? Correcting a child is hard, especially if no mother is around to discipline him."
Beatrice’s face turned red upon hearing those words. Wouldn’t this mean that all her efforts in raising Noah were for naught? Despite Noah being a silent kid, he never caused trouble for anyone. He preferred to be alone but sometimes, he would still play with kids around his age. He was a child, so how could Noah not want to play with his classmates, given the occasion?
