Chapter 64: Young Master Jiang (2)

"AHHHHHHHHH!!! You bitch! You’ll pay for this! You’ll pay for this!" As Cayden curled on his side, his entire body trembling in pain.

"Cayden! Cayden!" Camilla lost her composure, pulled away from her husband’s grasp, and raced to Cayden’s side. "Quick! Call an ambulance! It’s crucial we don’t move him!"

Adrienne crossed her arms and looked at Camila, trembling next to Cayden. Camilla stared at Cayden with wide eyes as if she couldn’t believe what she was seeing. Since she couldn’t lash out on Hunter, she scolded Adrienne instead. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚

"Addie! How could you let this happen?! Cayden is your brother!" She cried out, while Elise panicked behind her and Lewis stared at the scene before him blankly.

"But Aunt Camilla, how could you allow Cayden to hurt me? Am I not his younger sister? He and I came from the same mother and yet, why do I feel estranged around him?" She was saying these, but her eyes glinted with mockery towards the woman before her.

"Hunter is merely doing his job as my bodyguard. If he couldn’t stop my brother from beating me, then won’t the Zhao family think he’s useless?" She hummed, giving Cayden one last look before turning around.

Cayden continued cursing him and Adrienne, calling her degrading names and shouting every insult one could find in the dictionary.

"Adrienne Jiang, you just wait! Just wait! I’ll kill you with my own hands!" Cayden yelled at her. "Adrienne! I want you to pay with your life!"

Hunter stopped in his tracks and casually buried his hands in his side pockets. He indifferently shot a glance at Cayden. His expression remained cold and cheerless. When Camilla saw his peerless face, she was taken aback. She could feel a piercing, bone-chilling gaze on her body.

"Well, I can’t say I’m sorry. I see now that the eldest son of the Jiang family is a wimp. You only know how to hurt women? If you’re free I’ll give you a free lesson. However, since you voiced such vicious words to my miss, do pray I don’t kill you soon first."

Such strong statements from Hunter made Camilla fall on her hind. For the first time since she met this conniving snake, Adrienne witnessed how Camilla had completely lost her composure. It was a first, and was probably most defining. She then thought she shouldn’t allow Hunter to act rashly. Who knew if Camilla and Cayden would plot to kill him too because of this.

Adrienne was impressed by how easily Hunter could adapt to his new surroundings. The best part was that he wasn’t giving the Jiang family any face at all. If they were part of other affluent families, Hunter would have been dragged out by now. He would probably even receive a beating before getting thrown off the property.

As the two took the stairs up, Hunter casually glanced at his miss.

"Did I pass your test, Miss Jiang?" He asked, a hint of amusement glinting in his eyes.

They could hear the continuous shouting downstairs, but they ignored it. Lewis had joined the cursing, but Adrienne paid him no heed.

"You say it as if I purposely allowed that to happen. Don’t slander me, Mr. Nian." Adrienne answered with a faint smile. "But you shouldn’t forget that in this household, you only serve one master and that it is me."

Hunter shook his head. How could he not notice that Adrienne had purposely angered Cayden? She knew Cayden couldn’t stand her disrespect, hence she pushed his triggers, luring him to snap at her. Since Hunter had beaten Cayden tonight, it was certain that Cayden would hold some grudge towards him.

Adrienne led him to the third level, the highest floor at this estate. There were only three rooms on this level and she handed a key to her bodyguard.

"Since you’ll be staying with me, it’s better that you remain close. My room is next to yours." She pointed at the farthest room on the left. "The room across from ours is my mom’s. You aren’t allowed to enter any room without my permission. I fear my Aunt won’t forgive you and will attempt to chase you out."

Hunter nodded and opened the door of his room. He was surprised that Adrienne had already prepared this place for him. Was she so confident that he wouldn’t deny her offer?

"Mother Wang has brought some towels, clothes and basic necessities you might need. Tomorrow, you should give me a ride to school but you don’t have to follow me around." Adrienne crossed her arms over her chest and leaned against the doorway.

"Am I not your bodyguard? If I’m not following you, what should I be doing while waiting for you?"

Hunter Nian sat at the edge of the bed, noticing how comfortable it was compared to the previous ones he slept on. The Jiang family sure knew how to spend money.

"You’ll stay with my mother at the hospital until Uncle Reese’s people transfer her to another one. I don’t want to risk any mishaps before then."

There was a murderous glint that flashed in Hunter’s eyes upon hearing what she said, but he easily hid it behind a smile, making Adrienne wonder if it was just a trick of light.

She nodded and allowed her arms to fall on her side. Adrienne felt at ease knowing that no one would dare to beat her after Hunter’s defensive move on Cayden.

"That would be all for today. I’ll leave so you can rest, but tomorrow, you should be ready before the sun comes up."

Hunter watched her leave and shut the door behind her. He took a moment to look at his surroundings. The room was plain, but every furniture and material used looked expensive.

He then stared at his right hand, the one he used to stop Cayden from beating Adrienne. Now that he witnessed it, he finally understood why Reese Zhao was on tenterhooks because of his niece.

The real Adrienne Jiang seemed to be different from the good-for-nothing rumors circulating around her.
