Chapter 63: Young Master Jiang (1)

Adrienne was obviously in a good mood. It was rare for her to see Camilla squirming with unease. She supposed bringing Hunter wasn’t a bad idea after all. Whatever happened between the two, it was clear that her stepmother was wary of his presence.

Lewis arrived just in time to hear Hunter’s words. He furrowed his brows at him, then turned his attention to his second wife. His gaze became relatively gentle as he regarded Camilla. He held her hand and pulled her away from Elise.

Camilla Yan kept her figure slim despite already being in her mid-forties and had given birth to two children. She was dressed in a beige-colored blouse and a pencil skirt that was a little too tight in Adrienne’s opinion. Her skin was still smooth and supple, and there were no signs of wrinkles on her face, giving her an elegant and pure image.

"You’ve been working too hard these days, what do you mean you’re alright?!" He chastised Camilla, but his eyes showed his adoration towards her.

Thinking about it, Adrienne never saw her father give her mother this kind of expression. On normal days, Lewis Jiang sported a stern expression, however, in front of his second wife and Elise, he never showed that animosity.

"Oh, what a loving family!" Adrienne laughed with sarcasm. She couldn’t put up with this scene any longer and made a retching sound like she was about to vomit. Hunter immediately caught her, supported her shoulders, then rubbed her back in circles.

Her father’s smile faded as he looked at her. There was no doubt that this daughter of his was quite a beauty. He had thought that in due time, he could take advantage of this by marrying her off to other affluent families that could help him further his career and status. However, at the rate they were going, Lewis knew Adrienne was trying to free herself from his grasp.

"Miss Addie, It’s been hard on you these days, but allow me to lessen your burdens." He said this with a grin while Lewis glared at his back.

"You! Get out of here!" He yelled at Hunter, but the man remained standing next to Adrienne.

Adrienne grabbed Hunter’s wrist impulsively, her eyes forcing him to look at her.

"Hunter Nian, I will only say this once. In this household, you aren’t allowed to assist anyone but me! My word is the law here. If anyone dares to bully you, whether they are employed here or part of the Jiang family, you have no obligation to entertain their demands!"

Lewis looked at her in disbelief. The daughter before him had turned into a different person. From inside and out, there was hardly any trace of the pitiful girl he was familiar with. His probing eyes met her stare, meeting his gaze straightforwardly. With such a penetrating gaze, he couldn’t believe the freezingly icy chill he felt in his heart.

"So you’ve returned. Aren’t you going to greet me?" Lewis asked Adrienne as he held his conniving wife by his side as if a young girl like Adrienne was able to hurt her. "You’re becoming more unruly these days."

"’I’m home, my esteemed father.’ Is this what you want to hear? I thought we’d already cut our familial ties with each other. So when do you plan to move out?" Adrienne rubbed her temple. "Don’t you think it’s quite shameless to play house in your first wife’s home?"

In her past life, and even now, had her father truly regarded her as part of his family? The apparent answer was no. So it was pretty reasonable for her to treat them indifferently. Her previously foolish self had thought that as long as there was an opportunity to appease her father in any way, with the exception of her mother’s death, Adrienne would immediately clutch the straws.

Since the king of hell had denied her entry into his realm and sent her back to the living world, how could she not resign herself to let these people who offended her have a taste of what it felt like experiencing hell on earth? Adrienne had renounced her kinship with her father from the moment she was reborn.

Hunter then understood Reese’s previous warning about Adrienne. This girl really didn’t know how to hold her tongue. Not even her father was spared from the burn. However, he inwardly agreed with her. Lewis and Camilla had been married for some time now.

If they are ashamed and don’t want to lose face, they should have moved out the moment they got married. Such cruel treatment and indifference from her father even caused Hunter to feel somewhat indignant. Adrienne turned her back on Lewis as though she wasn’t aware of her father’s glare.

"This is my final notice, esteemed father. If you don’t want me to air your dirty laundry in public."

"Adrienne! You stop right there!! You think I, your older brother, would let off the impertinence you showed today? I should give you a lesson and discipline you!!"

Cayden couldn’t take any more of Adrienne’s disrespect towards his parents. He furiously stomped towards his half-sister, intending to slap her. He’d been itching to beat her for some time now, and every time he saw her cold arrogance, it only made Cayden hate her more.

Adrienne braced for the impact of his heavy hand on her face. She had already lost count of how many times Cayden had beaten her like this before while he pampered and spoiled Elise rotten. Cayden had never missed the opportunity to beat and humiliate her.

However, before Cayden’s hand touched Adrienne’s face, he felt his balance thrown off as a tremendous pressure held his arm. Before he knew it, he felt a scorching pain on his back when his body slammed into the cold floor.

A brief silence followed before a piercing scream followed.

’What on earth had happened?’

Unexpectedly, the cold-hearted and mysterious bodyguard Adrienne brought back home had easily turned the tables and beat Cayden without breaking a sweat.
