Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 366: A Price to Pay (2)
However, as he looked at her beautiful face, Lennox could sense her displeasure.
"Are you mad?" he asked.
He didn’t know Adrienne would come to visit him at work, only for him to be caught with another woman in his office. Lennox was relieved that he chose to push Bree away and wasn’t forced into a compromising position by her.
When Adrienne appeared, Lennox’s heart jumped to his chest. He was worried that his wife would misunderstand the situation and jump to conclusions. He desperately wanted to explain himself and assure her that there was nothing going on between him and the other woman.
"If our positions were changed and you found me with another man, what would you feel?"
The smile on Adrienne’s face remained, but Lennox noticed the coldness and subtle anger in her voice.
"I’ll not be upset and would ask you to explain. I trust you, Addie. I don’t believe you’ll betray me for another man." He answered truthfully.
"I feel the same, Len." Adrienne frowned. "But as I said, I don’t trust those women who go after you. You must be happy with such a stunning beauty as Miss Bree coming after you to seduce. Not every man would have such an opportunity to see a willing beauty come to him."
Lennox’s mind went black upon hearing her words. It was the first time Adrienne expressed jealousy towards him, and it caught him off guard. He realized that he needed to reassure her of his loyalty and make her understand that he only had eyes for her.
Suddenly, he pulled Adrienne into his lap and wrapped his arms around her, a smile threatening to spread on his lips. When Adrienne remained indifferent after exposing Jacob and Bree’s scheme towards him, his heart sank a little. Lennox thought she didn’t take the matter to heart and wasn’t concerned about the other woman who vied for his attention.
"Oh, my sweet, sweet Addie. No one can compare to you. I love you even more today," he whispered in her ear. "But how did you know Jacob was up to something?
"Myrtle frequently receives calls from him, asking about my whereabouts and how we’re faring. I found it suspicious, as I have no business with him whatsoever. We aren’t even close to each other, so I asked Jet and Jasper to look at the newly hired employees, especially the ones working closely with you. That’s where I found Miss Bree’s involvement with your cousin."
Adrienne tried to break away from him, fearing others might suddenly come and see them, but Lennox held her tighter.
"It seems to me that he’s interested in you, Addie. He took Audrey and forced her to marry him. Now, he wants you to leave me so he can snatch you away." Lennox’s eyes darkened as he thought about it. But Jacob miscalculated and didn’t anticipate that his wife wasn’t easy to trifle with. He made the mistake of lumping her with other women, who could easily be dissuaded by a mere trick.
Adrienne let out an amused laugh and rested her arms on Lennox’s shoulders.
"He must be foolish if he thinks he could easily break us like that. He must have trusted Miss Bree that much and never considered that you were nothing like him." She commented.
Lennox was relieved to hear that she trusted him. He had been worried that Jacob’s manipulation might have caused doubt in their relationship.
"Please don’t get mad with the twins. I forced Jet and Jasper to cooperate with me. I also told them not to bother to inform you, as you already have a lot on your plate. You should focus on your work, Len. Let me deal with the schemes and underhanded tricks your family is throwing at you."
Lennox felt a rush of gratitude towards his wife. Adrienne had always been supportive of him, even in his darkest moments. She understood him like no one else.
"Thank you, Addie. You always have my back." He said this, looking into her eyes.
Adrienne smiled warmly, and Lennox knew that everything was going to be alright. They had each other, and that was all that mattered.
Feeling relieved and content, Lennox leaned in and pressed his lips to hers. Adrienne responded eagerly, her arms tightening around his neck. They kissed until they were both breathless, their bodies entwined in a passionate embrace.
As they broke the kiss, Lennox looked at his wife with a deep sense of love and adoration. He knew that he was lucky to have her in his life.
"You know, Addie, you really don’t have to worry about me being seduced by another woman." He said. It suddenly dawned on him why Adrienne brought out this issue two weeks ago. Lennox understood now that his wife wouldn’t ask some random questions without a reason.
Adrienne looked at him with a hint of teasing in her eyes.
"Oh really? And why is that?"
"Because I already have everything I want right here," Lennox replied, his eyes tracing the outline of her face.
Adrienne smiled, and Lennox felt his heart swell with affection. He experienced overwhelming repulsion when Bree attempted to touch him earlier, but not with his wife. In fact, Lennox wanted nothing but for Adrienne to possess him and brand him as hers.
"You’re such a smooth talker, Len. But I’m glad to know that you’re devoted to me."
"And there’s more, "he added, his lip curling mischievously as he took her right hand and placed it on his growing erection. "This one only reacts to you. I think you’ve ruined me for others, Mrs. Qin."
Adrienne’s face flushed red.
"Lennox Qin!" She exclaimed, earning a hearty laugh from her husband.
Lennox leaned in and kissed her again. This time, it was slow and tender, a gesture of their deep love for each other.
As they parted, Adrienne looked at him with a mischievous glint in her eyes.
"But just to be sure, why don’t we go home early today?" She suggested. "I have a surprise for you."
Lennox raised an eyebrow, and his interest peaked.
"A surprise? What kind of surprise?"
Adrienne smirked.
"You’ll just have to wait and see." She said, standing up from his lap.
Lennox followed suit, feeling a sense of anticipation coiling in his stomach. He couldn’t wait to see what his wife had in store for him. Whatever it was, Lennox knew it would be a night he would never forget.
