Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 365: A Price to Pay (1)
"Do you really think I wouldn’t notice you?" Adrienne continued, her eyes fixated on the woman who dared to seduce her husband. She might have looked calm, but she was simmering with rage inside.
Seeing this woman reminded her of when Ayla went to see her before her passing in her previous life. Back then, Ayla bragged and talked about her rendering escapades with her husband. At that time, her cousin’s words shocked her, and Adrienne could laugh foolishly to herself as she had failed to notice the clues early on. She was clueless then as to why Alistair would tell her there was only her in his heart, despite the massive rift between them.
Adrienne wasn’t planning to cage Lennox and stalk every woman he worked with, but when Jet’s report came to her, she had an idea what Jacob was up to when he sent this woman to work closely with her husband.
"Mrs. Qin, I don’t know what you are talking about." Bree broke into a cold sweat. The news and rumors portray Adrienne Jiang as a young and beautiful woman, but she never thought this cold beauty was frightening in real life.
Adrienne Jiang was smiling, but Bree felt a chill run down her spine. She couldn’t shake the feeling that Adrienne was onto something and feared the consequences of getting caught in the middle of whatever game Jacob was playing.
"You don’t?" Adrienne hummed and touched her chin for a moment. She then walked towards her husband, sitting on the edge of his desk, and looked at the other woman with mockery.
"You came rushing here to seduce Lennox when you heard from Jasper that I’d be arriving today, right? But, Miss Bree, you didn’t know that I already anticipated what would happen. Didn’t Jacob warn you if you failed your ’secret mission’? This isn’t merely a confidential meeting, Miss Bree. I intended to see how you’d seduce my husband, but you utterly failed. Audrey Xiao might be kind enough to spare you from having an affair with her husband; unfortunately for you, I don’t share the same sentiment as her. Haven’t you heard the rumors about me being a vengeful woman?"
Adrienne’s eyes turned cold. She was visibly enraged at others’ audacity to take Lennox away from her.
"Do you have an idea what I could do to you?" She asked Bree. Adrienne’s voice dripped with venom as she leaned in closer to Bree, her eyes narrowing. "You see, I have a reputation for being quite resourceful when it comes to dealing with those who cross me. And trust me, my dear, you wouldn’t want to find out just how far I’m willing to go. Your boss should have warned you what we’re capable of."
The threat hung heavy in the air as Adrienne’s sinister smile sent shivers down Bree’s spine.
Adrienne turned to her husband, who was looking at her with a mix of concern and admiration. She could see the glimmer of pride in his eyes, knowing that he had married a woman who was not to be trifled with. With a smirk, she whispered something in his ear, causing him to chuckle darkly.
"So, darling, what do you want to do with her?" Adrienne asked Lennox.
"If it was in the past, I’d ask Jet to cut one of her fingers and send it to Jacob as a present, but we can’t do that anymore." Lennox sighed in disappointment. "What do you have in mind, Addie?"
Bree’s face turned pale. Obviously, the Qin family members were cruel and ruthless against each other, so what’s more to a stranger like her? She willingly played the role of a pawn in a dangerous game without knowing the repercussions of her actions.
She was unable to move from her place as a streak of sweat ran down the side of her face. Her heart raced, realizing the gravity of the situation she had unknowingly gotten herself into. Looking at Adrienne, Bree knew her fate was in this young woman’s hands.
Adrienne looked at least five years younger than her, but Bree felt an overwhelming sense of vulnerability in her presence. Despite her youthful appearance, Adrienne exuded a certain level of wisdom and experience that made Bree feel uncomfortable. Jacob Qin had truly underestimated the couple before her.
"Such beauty is for everyone to see. Miss Bree is such a sight to see, and I have no doubt many men would want to have her as their wife. However, it seems she had an odd taste for a married man, Len. We should consider her preference." Adrienne said with a wicked smile.
"I heard the manager of Elysian had been looking for her everywhere because of the massive debt she left behind. However, he couldn’t get his hands on her because of Jacob. He would surely be pleased if we delivered this woman to him.
"No, please!" Bree cried out, "Anywhere but that place! Please!"
Lennox looked at Bree with disgust. He couldn’t believe she had the audacity to try to seduce him while his wife was on her way to meet him. Lennox turned to his wife and whispered, "I think it’s time we teach her a lesson she’ll never forget."
He would always support his wife unconditionally and would allow her to deal with his cousin’s other woman.
Adrienne nodded in agreement. She had a plan in mind, and Lennox knew better than to question her. They were a team, and they always had each other’s backs.
"Miss Bree, I hope you’re ready for what’s about to come," Adrienne said, her voice laced with malice.
The door suddenly opened again, and Adrienne motioned for the guards to come into the room. Bree’s eyes widened in horror as she realized what was about to happen. The guards grabbed her towards the door. She struggled and screamed for mercy, but it was of no use.
Adrienne’s lips curled into a cold smile. "Then I’ll have to trouble my hubby to deliver Miss Bree discreetly to Elysian. "
Lennox’s mood immediately improved as soon as he heard Adrienne call him ’hubby’.
