Reborn Young Miss: Phoenix Burning Red-Chapter 364: I Have No Interest in You (2)
He knew it would take time for her to fully trust him, but he was determined to prove to her that he would never hurt her. He held her close, his arms wrapped tightly around her waist.
"Addie, listen to me. There is no one else in this world for me except you. I love you, and I always will. Nothing and no one can ever change that," Lennox said, his voice soft and gentle.
Adrienne looked up at him, her eyes searching his face. She could see his gaze’s sincerity, which made her heart swell with love and affection. She leaned in and kissed him deeply, pouring all her love and trust into the kiss.
Lennox deepened the kiss, his hands roaming over her body and pulling her closer to him. They broke apart, gasping for breath, their foreheads resting against each other.
"I love you, Addie," Lennox whispered, his voice filled with emotion. "I will always love you."
Adrienne smiled, tears of happiness filling her eyes. She knew, deep in her heart, that Lennox was the only man for her. No one else could ever compare to him. He loved her unconditionally and proved it to her every day. She couldn’t believe how lucky she was to meet him in this lifetime.
Since then, Lennox has been careful with his encounters with other women. Although he remained respectful to them, he avoided physical contact and kept his conversation short. Since the twins, Jasper and Jet, accompanied him most of the time, it was easier for him to avoid any situations that could potentially jeopardize his marriage. However, that didn’t stop some women from trying to get his attention, especially when he was alone or had set the twins on an errand.
But despite his efforts, one woman in his office seemed to have her sights set on him: the marketing assistant, Bree. She was beautiful, intelligent, and hardworking, and she didn’t hesitate to flirt with Lennox every chance she got.
Lennox tried to ignore her advances, but it was becoming increasingly difficult. Just like Adrienne told him, some women could be quite persistent. He wondered if rejecting her directly would make the woman stop. Stacy made him uncomfortable for some reason. Was she a spy her uncles and aunts put near him to observe?
One day, Bree entered his office wearing a tight-fitting dress, accentuating her curves. Lennox had just asked Jasper to collect the files he needed for a minor project at Qin Motors, and Jet had just gone for a bathroom break when Stacy arrived. He frowned when she approached his desk with a seductive smile on her lips.
"Boss, I have some files for you to sign," Bree said, leaning over his desk and giving him a perfect view of her cleavage.
Lennox remained unmoved, his focus on the papers in front of him. The woman before him stiffened. She was used to having men on her foot and their gaze fixed on her body, and she had never been ignored or spurned like this.
She observed Lennox Qin. His profile was exceptionally handsome, and there was no woman who wouldn’t find him attractive. He had a graceful bearing that seemed to have come naturally, something she hadn’t seen in other men she’d been with. Even without the prestige of the Qin family, his looks and poise alone were enough to stir a woman’s heart.
Bree felt she was on a hunt, and Lennox Qin was her prey. Jacob Qin sent her here to seduce his cousin and cause a drift between Lennox and his wife, but she never thought this man was an ice block. Bree started to wonder how Adriene managed to marry such a man as Lennox when he was unresponsive to her previous attempts at flirting with him. At that instance, she felt envious of Adriene Jiang for being fortunate enough to marry this man before her.
Seeing no reaction from Lennox, she decided to lean in even closer, taking an empty cup of coffee from his desk. She bent down in an alluring fashion, her body almost grazing his arm. Lennox’s brows narrowed, and he coldly said, "You can leave it there. If there isn’t anything else, you may leave as well.
But the woman before him was quite persistent. Bree took the cup and saucer and was about to touch Lennox’s shoulder when his left arm pushed her away, sending her to the cold, marbled floor. The cup and saucer she was holding made a crashing sound while Bree felt pain in her back and abdomen. Did Lennox Qin just hit her?
"How dare you act inappropriately in my office and, even worse, try to touch me without permission?" Lennox said, his voice cold and firm. "I am a married man, and I have no interest in you. Your behavior is unacceptable, and I will not tolerate it. If you cannot behave professionally, I suggest you find another job."
Bree scrambled to her feet, her face red with embarrassment and anger. She couldn’t believe that Lennox had rejected her so harshly. She was used to getting what she wanted, and no man had ever treated her like this before. She felt humiliated by him, and her face was extremely red. It was like she made her best effort to present herself, only to be considered a mere joke by him.
When someone pushed open the door, Lennox was just about to say more. Adrienne took a step into his office, and with one glance, she noticed a woman sprawled on the ground while her husband was clearly not in a good mood. She didn’t need half a brain to know what transpired before her arrival, but still she asked, "What happened?"
Lennox contemplated for a while before answering. He should have taken her warning more seriously.
"She tried to seduce me, so I pushed her away."
Adrienne turned her eyes on Bree, her expression placid, before she gave him a cold smile. Her eyes were charming but hinted at ridicule and disdain as she looked at the other woman.
"Jacob Qin surely lacks some brain if this is the best he could pull against us." She laughed behind her hand, stunning Bree and her husband.
"Addie?" Lennox asked confusedly, "What are you talking about?"
"Len, I’m sorry if I overstepped my boundaries this time. I asked Jet to give me the complete list of employees that are working closely with you. It’s not that I don’t trust you, but I want to pull out some weeds that would derail your success. It turns out that Miss Bree here used to work as one of Jacob’s personal secretaries. Why would a woman who’d been working for him for three years suddenly appear here when she’s not needed? How is it that you weren’t seduced?"
Lennox was stunned but smart enough to see the bigger picture his wife presented. So this was what Jacob was up to. Lennox had no doubt that person would have fallen under Bree’s seduction if he were another man. Then, at that point, he would have touched her so that when his wife ’coincidentally’ appeared, she would find them in a compromising position.
