Chapter 339: One Hell of a Woman (2)

Waylen looked torn, his eyes shifting between Adrienne and Chantal, his mistress. It was clear that he was grappling with a difficult decision, one that could determine the fate of his family and himself. Of course, he was aware that Maryam and Ayla were the ones who suggested marrying Adrienne off to the Gu family to settle their debts, but Waylen never thought Adrienne would find out about it.

As he looked at his niece, Waylen couldn’t help but fear Adrienne. She was young, but she was already this cruel. If someone had told him in the past that his young niece would singlehandedly destroy his Jiang family, Waylen would have laughed in their faces.

However, as he stood there, witnessing the turmoil within his own household, he couldn’t deny the truth any longer. Adrienne’s ambition and ruthlessness had become a force to be reckoned with, and Waylen knew that if he didn’t make the right choice now, his future would be irreparably damaged.

"Do I have to make a decision now?" He asked.

Waylen knew that if he left with Chantal and their son, Maryam and Ayla would be left to their own devices and could not defend themselves from Adrienne. However, Waylen knew he was helpless and could not protect his family from Adrienne if he stayed. The weight of the decision hung heavy on his shoulders as he contemplated the potential consequences of each choice.

"You have to," Adrienne affirmed. "You are running out of time, Uncle." She added it with a mischievous glint in her dark eyes.

Waylen swallowed a lump in his throat as he broke into a cold sweat. Adrienne was forcing him to choose between his two families, and the thought of betraying either one tore him apart. He knew that no matter what decision he made, there would be no turning back.

He’d been married to Maryam for so many years, but she only gave him one daughter. Though there was no denying that he adored and pampered Ayla from the moment she was born, Waylen also yearned to have a son he could be proud of.

He couldn’t help but feel a sense of longing whenever he saw his friends playing catch with their sons or teaching them how to ride a bike. The desire to have a son of his own grew stronger with each passing day until he met Chantal, who managed to fulfill his dream.

"I’ll agree to leave if you can promise me that you will leave Ayla from now on," Waylen demanded of his niece.

The thought of leaving Ayla behind was difficult for him, but he saw it as the only way to protect himself and his son. He thought that since Ayla was married to the Han family after the scandal died, they wouldn’t treat his daughter harshly.

"Sure, Uncle. You have my word." Adrienne smiled at her uncle’s naivety. Even if she did nothing for Ayla, there was no assurance that Ayla would be safe from her husband. Alistair had a bad temper and had already shown signs of being abusive towards Ayla.

"Okay, I’ll agree to your terms. I’ll leave with Chantal and my son, but I need time to prepare," Waylen said, trying to sound as confident as he could.

"Take all the time you need, Uncle. But remember, if you fail to keep your promise, I won’t hesitate to ruin your life and your family’s," Adrienne warned him, her voice cold and unforgiving.

Waylen nodded, thinking that he had made the right choice. He turned to Chantal and whispered, "Pack your bags and prepare to leave the country with our son. We’ll start fresh somewhere far away from here."

He felt like he had made a deal with the devil, but he had no choice. He had to protect himself and his own family, and he would do whatever it took to do so.

Still, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of dread. He knew he was leaving his daughter behind to face the repercussions of his actions. He prayed that Ayla would be safe and that she would find a way to overcome the scandal that had tarnished her reputation.

Chantal smiled warmly at Waylen, grateful for his decision. She had always wanted to leave the country and start anew, away from the prying eyes of others. Finally, her dream was coming true, and she couldn’t wait to build a new life with Waylen and their son. She was tired of hiding from Maryam and the rest of the world for the longest time, and she couldn’t believe Waylen chose to be with her this time.

As Waylen and Chantal made their way out of the room, Adrienne watched them go with a sense of satisfaction. She knew that she had won this battle, and her aunt Maryam would be left to deal with the aftermath of their own actions.

"This won’t end well for all of them," Uncle Shark commented once he and Adrienne were driving back home in Chiangshi. Knowing Adrienne, Uncle Shark knew she was merely giving Waylen Jiang false hope to save himself. He’d been working with Adrienne and knew that she wasn’t a forgiving person when it came to the members of the Jiang family.

"Ayla would be brokenhearted once she found out her father abandoned her for a son." Adrienne rested her chin on her hand as she stared out the window, a wicked smirk playing on her lips. "But that’s just the beginning of the downfall of the Jiang family. They will regret crossing me. Once I’m done with them, the Qin family should also watch their backs from now on."

Uncle Shark nodded in agreement, knowing that Adrienne had her reasons for hating the Jiang family. He had seen the way they treated her when she was younger, and he understood why she wanted revenge.

As they drove through the bustling streets of Chiangsu, the sun began to set on the horizon, casting an orange glow over the city. Adrienne felt a sense of satisfaction wash over her as she thought about the power she now held over the Jiang family. She knew that they would never be able to recover from the scandal she had orchestrated, and she couldn’t wait to see them fall to their knees.

"Adrienne, you’re one hell of a woman," Uncle Shark said, a smile creeping to his lips. He still couldn’t believe that a kind and gentle woman like Rosemary Zhao managed to give birth to such a menace.

Adrienne turned to him, a smirk playing on hers. "I know, Uncle. That’s why I’m going to make sure that no one messes with me or my family ever again."
